After finding his quarters and making sure his codes were active, Hammor made sure he was presentable… which for him meant everything as close to perfect as he could make it. Checking himself in the mirror, he took a breath and nodded once to himself. He turned and walked out of the room and made his way to the bridge. Stepping onto it for the first time, he allowed himself a moment to take it in.The Athena was a big ship, and Hammor knew he had his work cut out for him. She wasn’t quite the size of the Dresden, but that ship was pretty straight forward. This one was much more versatile… and therefore much more complex.
Nodding slightly in appreciation and excitement for what lay ahead, he moved to the Ready Room door and fist-bumped the chime.
Hammor, Ops
“Enter,” came a richly accented voice. While it could convey many emotions, currently it seemed, well, almost bored.
Inside the spacious office space, Ghubari was at her desk off to the side of the room, not too far from the door. Two chairs sat in front of it for guests, while a sitting area with a sofa and coffee table sat in the back of the office along the windows that offered a wonderful view of space and wherever their locale might be. In this case, it was space and the traffic coming to and from around their berth at Starbase 157. There were a couple leafy larger potted plants in the sitting area, and smaller flowering plants were dotted strategically in places, including the set of selves opposite the desk where Ghubari kept her personal effects. There was an ebony wood masked, carved in a somewhat abstract manner, a carved statue of a couple entwined in an embrace and sitting on a rock (in a glossy finish of ebony wood), a small handwoven basket, a picture of Ghubari and an older woman (with even darker skin who resembled her) sitting on the steps of a small white washed house, and another photo of Ghubari and Konral taken at their impromptu wedding on the Athena.
Koraia took one look at her guest and smirked. “Well, of all the people traipsing through my office lately, you are the one I don’t have to guess at.” She gestured to the seats in front of her desk. “Please, join me Commander.”

Hammor smiled, his red lips parting and the brilliant white teeth showing against emerald skin. “I do tend to have that effect, Captain. And thank you.” and he moved forward and extended his hand to her before seating himself.
She reached out and shook his hand with her own dark one, not in the least bit intimidated by his size or how his hand dwarfed hers.
Settling his bulk into the chair, he said to his new Commanding Officer “I assume from your greeting that I was expected, then? Im happy to know that Command actually got the paperwork to you on time.” and he chuckled as his eyes darted around the room and then settled on her.

The half-Napean chuckled. “Well, I think that was more by luck than anything planned. I didn’t even know the name of my new first officer before she arrived.” She gestured around her in a circular motion. “We tend to fly by the seat of our pants around here, in more ways that one. Consider it a bout of luck- something else we seem to have in considerable supply. That of course will be one of those things you’ll have to coordinate the stock of,” she deadpanned.
Folding her arms across the edge of her desk, she gazed at the COO. “Anything not in the file I should know? I’m not a huge fan of surprises, despite how our missions tend to go.”

Hammor spread his hands open wide and said “I am an open book, Captain. What you read is what you get. Only thing that isn’t in there is my favorite color - blue- and that I am qualified on all ship systems from worker pods up to Dreadnaughts… praise the gods for standardization of systems, right? And in a pinch, I can cook pretty well, too. But don’t ask me to bake. That never turns out well.” and he chuckled.

She gave an easy laugh and nodded. “Can’t say I’m skilled in that area but I make a mean banana beef curry.” Ghubari herself was never an open book and recent events had seemingly only made that more true, but in her decade as a commanding officer she had found her groove, her way of being with her crew. That really hadn’t changed even if she had become Mama Lion, rather than the solitary Leopard.
“I will warn you that whatever you may or may not have heard about the Athena, nothing will prepare you for the reality. It’s a … peculiar assignment,” Koraia said with some amusement.”
