“I think it depends on the situation, but for the most part I would agree.” She sipped on her coffee. “What do you think will be your biggest challenge on the Athena?” Janna asked, crossing her legs at the knee and leaning back in her chair a bit more.

Séan put a hand to his chin as he contemplated the question. “Short term or long term? I’m not sure that I’ll have any big challenges in the long term as time will allow me to adapt and fit in. It will also take time to earn the trust of my patients and some I may never be able to. And that’s the biggest challenge in the short term, there just isn’t enough time to to earn everyone’s trust and be as effective a counsellor. I’ll do my best of course and just hope that it’s enough. Our case loads sound awfully daunting right now.”

CNS Iven

Janna couldn’t help but snort. “I’ll say. We’ve got a priority list but there’s only six of us and a thousand people to get through. Now not all of them need an actual assessment, but even if half of them did that’s going to take awhile. We’ve set up a schedule to work through it but we still have to leave room for urgent appointments and boarding evals. All I can say is that there is a lot of coffee in my future,” she said with a grin before siping some more.

“Well you’ll be happy to hear that the Captain gave me the go-ahead to contact the Ogawa and get some reinforcements on that front. I wouldn’t sign off on the ship being ready to leave the Starbase even if it was physically repaired. The crew needs rest and support for their mental well-being too. In the morning I’m going to call their Captain and see how much help they can provide us.” Séan revealed before he took another drink of his tea.

CNS Iven

Janna looked genuinely surprised. “That is great!” she said with sincerity. “Even if they are able to lend us two or thee people, it will make a difference. And I agree we can’t let the ship get new orders just yet.” She shook her head, her blond curls swaying to and fro. “It’s too much too soon. We don’t even know what the word vacation is anymore,” she added with a small laugh.

Séan smiled and shook his head with a chuckle. “I’ve been overworked and given nary a wink of sleep before but I’m astounded at the activity the Athena has kept up for so long. So everyone is essentially on medical leave as far as I’m concerned in the meantime. Besides the ship can’t leave without her Captain and it sounds like she has a little vacation planned anyway.” He finished the rest of his tea before he set it down on the table in front of him. “How much time do you have until your next session?”

Janna leaned over and tapped a PADD on the side table. “Half an hour. Anything you want to go over while we’re here?” She gestured with her hand to him. “Clearly you’re fit for duty, though I should warn you that this ship is… something else. Whatever you think you should expect, give up now,” she said with a smirk.
