They were both too close to their respective answers for this to go on much longer, but she was still highly amused. “Correct on one account,” she said, not clarifying. She figured it would be more obvious which of his answers was the correct one. She was sure Mshuri would give her a hard time for playing unnecessary games, but then again she hadn’t exactly done any consulting with her spiritual guide in awhile. Quite on purpose too. She wasn’t sure she felt like the creature’s unique method of enlightenment. Nah. Right now she was riding the high of survival. It was like being high on a drug, and considering she used a hallucinatory substance in her meditations, she was rather familiar with the feeling.

Stepping away, the playful grin remained. “Wow, those were days. I had braids down to here-“she tapped just above her hipbone-“when I was an XO.” And with that she spun on her toe and began to walk away.

Séan blinked again and grinned to himself as he followed behind the woman. He inferred from the little game they had just now, the way that she established dominance but didn’t end the conversation directly, that their interaction wasn’t over. This was alright with him, whatever she needed for this interaction to be at her pace. He was curious anyway, about where they were going and where her seeming whimsy would lead them.

“Captain.” He started, knowing that Ghubari was a Fleet Captain but knowing that the full rank was rarely used in conversation. Besides, she’d likely correct him if she wanted the full rank used and that would provide him with some more details about her. “I am your new head Counsellor. I was planning to visit you a little later today or maybe even tomorrow to report.”

Almost at the door, she spun back easily. If she had kept going it would have flowed into a lovely pirouette. “So late? I’m disappointed Lieutenant Iven. I’d have expected the head of a department on my ship to be ready to go. The Athena waits for no person,” she said matter-of-factly as she planted her hands on her hips. But whereas her fighting skills could have made this stance seem aggressive or imposing, there was a slight tilt of her head and lifted right heel. Her expression was amused.

Now the question was, had she known who he was the whole time or was she just that quick on the incoming personnel files and able to place a name? Either or neither could have been the case and she wasn’t about to share.

Séan stopped a good distance from Ghubari and observed her behavior. Not in a way one would to be defensive but in respecting her space. He tilted his own head a little to mimic part of her posture. “I can appreciate that Captain and will strive to be more prompt in the future.” He smiled in response while neither acknowledging the seeming playfulness of the rebuke nor pointing out that new arrivals typically have a day to report in after getting settled aboard ship. He wasn’t concerned one way or the other about how she knew his name. He knew the names of all of the senior staff, even the replacement XO, but couldn’t place faces to the names really until meeting them.

Ghubari didn’t show whether his response was acceptable to her or not, instead just continuing to gaze at him.

“How were you sure I wasn’t new to security? I’ve been told often enough that I missed my calling in life there due to my build.” He asked curiously.

She tapped her head with two fingers. “Empath. Different trainings often give me a different feel. Security trained people have some common traits and learned behaviours I can also pick out on casual observance. It’s not perfect, but I’ve been in Starfleet a long time now. I’m well practiced,” Koraia said casually.
