There’s a point where the stakes are just so continuously high that it’s hard to go back to… I don’t even want to say normal because nothing about the last 10 years as a captain have been normal,” she said with a humourless chuckle.

She filled her lungs, stalling the answer that she wasn’t even entirely sure of. Ghubari shook her head slightly. “You have to factor them in, always, but you can’t think about it all the time or it will make you second guess yourself. I did command training. I grew ad learn along the way and at some point when the responsibility is yours you just have to trust yourself, that you know what you’re doing and rely on others who know more than you. And then together you share that burden, even if ultimately it’s really o your shoulders.” There was no easy answer and it often changed. “Some days are harder though.”

“I can imagine,” Ghubari said with a small frown, “I have an ulterior motive for asking, Memory Omega have asked me to sign on and if I do they plan to give me a command position of my own.”

“Ahhh,” Ghubari said, leaning back on her hands again. “Well, honestly, no one can know what is best for you but you. Though some will try to say otherwise. And nothing you do can truly prepare you for being in command of others. You can have all the training and it matters little. Because once that responsibility is truly on your shoulders, only you can know what you need to do and how you will handle it.”
