Jonathan stepped into the Ready Room, following Ari.

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

“Captain, I look forward to serving with you here on the Bonaventure.”

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

“I appreciate that, Commander. We are in a bit of a bunch here to get you up and running and caught up to speed. I’ll have you run to medical to check in just to be sure all’s well in the computers in case this mission goes sideways in any particular fashion,” she said and turned to lean on her desk. “We are on the edge of an anomalous nebula that may or may not have 21st Century shuttles with augmented humans in it. We are to explore the nebula without waking its inhabitants, if they are in there, and find out why this nebula. We’ll be doing a passive sweep as we go, just to be sure we are aware of others before they are aware of us. But I have also deployed the pods to do immediate area scans of the nebula to see what makes this one different than the rest.”

She set her hands at her sides, bracing on them as she looked at him. Despite her brunette hair being coiled in a knot at the base of her neck and her uniform being nearly inspection perfect, she still had the aire about her of someone relaxed, laid back and almost non chalant about their current mission. The only difference, if anyone bothered to look, was the shine in her eyes. This was a science mission and she was a scientist at heart… at her very soul. This was exactly the kind of mission she had been waiting for. “So, now that I’ve dumped all that on you, do you have any questions before we toss you to the fire, so to speak?” She smiled and nodded to him.

If there was really a 21st century ship out there, he would totally want to get his hands on it. Not only would it give him a chance to get his hands on some old school tech, but things were built competent different back then. And the fact that it might still be operating… Johnathan was about to respond when the ship shook.

The shake of the ship as the nebula affected it, made Ari frown as she shifted unexpectedly. “Seems the ‘fire’ is getting hotter, so to speak. Do you have anything to ask or say before we get to it and see what the heck is going on with my helm?” She was laughing but it was obvious she was bothered.

“I think we can skip most of the usual conversation Captain, for now I don’t have any questions. But if I think of any, I’ll be sure to let you know. For now though I will swing by sickbay really quick while you see what is shaking up the ship.”

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

Ari nodded. “If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask. I know this is a bit of an ‘into the fire’ situation, but you wouldn’t be here if you couldn’t handle it. As to medical, how about we skip that for now, unless you have a major change since the last time you were seen. I’d appreciate you check in with engineering and see what’s shaking things up.” She rose up. “I know it’s a bit unconventional, but right now, unless you are sick, this is a bit more pressing. Don’t you agree?” She headed for the door, but waited till his response before opening it.

Jonathan just nodded, it was definitely going to take some getting used to working with Captain Bovar. “Of course Captain, I have no problem with just diving right in. One of the best ways to get to know the ship and the crew.”

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

Ari nodded. “Perfect. Then I’ll leave you to it. If you feel you must, go ahead and swing into medical but make it brief. I just want to be sure you are on file if things go sideways. You can do a full and proper work up later.” She opened the door to the bridge. “So it begins…” she laughed and entered the main bridge to head for her seat. “Welcome aboard, Commander.”’

“Thank you Captain.”

As she headed for her seat, she shook her head and laughed. “I can’t seem to step away a moment. Report!”

Following the Captain out of the ready room, Jonathan kept going and headed for the lift.
