SNIP
15 minutes later she walked back into the Intel office. Her clothes were cleaned and pressed and her hair was braided and coiled, albeit a little damp at the base of her neck. She had her uniform which she swiftly placed in the small closet by the door, replacing the one she had taken when she had cleaned her stuff out a few days ago. She added the uniform boots and sat at her console to tap up whatever request or work he had sent to the station for her. She was in long black slacks with a slight flair at the bottom to give the material some motion, and a tunic top that was short sleeved and a sapphire blue to compliment her eyes. She didn’t have much makeup on, just enough to be refreshed looking and hide the nearly gone mark on her cheek. After a moment, she glanced back. “Coffee, Commander?” Realizing she hadn’t asked when she came in.

Sec/IntelBaumann shook his head. “You have a file in your priority correspondence. Read it and make sure you are familiar with the contents.”
Baumann, Intel
“Yes, Commander,” she said and tapped out the query to get the file he spoke of. She then settled in to read it, her PaDD beside her for taking notes.
Prescott
Sec/IntelThe file was heavily redacted, but it was broken up into segments and each would only open when the ship was within a few days of the location of the report. The file that opened concerned the nebula. All that she could glean from it was that prove had been sent some time in the past and that it was possible there were Earth vessels lost in the area.
“Questions?” Baumann asked.
Baumann, Intel
She read the small file a second time then leaned back. “Earth vessels…” she turned to look at him. “Not Federation vessels. Why does this hint at possible worm hole, time issues?” She nodded to his computer. “Do you have any additional information? Like which vessels or from when?”
Prescott
Sec/IntelHe looked at her and said “21st Century… transports… does that mean anything to you, Lieutenant?”
Baumann, Intel
Prescott frowned a moment, then she shook her head. “I can’t think of anything off the top of my head, Sir. I’m sorry. What am I missing?” She turned her chair completely to look at him. “What’s going on? I don’t know you super well, Baumann, but I do know when something is under your skin. What is it?” She tilted her head slightly in curiosity.
Prescott
Sec/IntelHe shook his head. “Nothing. I will brief you if we reach a point where you need to know. Hopefully, this particular segment of our journey will be something we will not need to concern the ship with.”
Baumann, Intel
She nodded. “So in other words, keep my eyes and ears open. And if something seems ‘off’, don’t ignore it. Come and tell you or ask you about it. Right?” She tried to smile like things were back to normal, but it wasn’t quite the same.
Prescott
Sec/IntelHe nodded and said “Exactly. And when is doubt, ask. But you might want to keep some clothes here in the office. If things occur that are possible, we may be in this office for a while.”
Baumann, Intel
A look of curiosity flickered over her face, but was gone swiftly. Much quicker than last time she’s been curious what was to come. “Yes, Sir. I’ll make sure the coffee storage container is full, with backup as well. You’re mentioning change of clothes. Shall I get a kit of away rations as well? In case we can’t get to the mess?”
Prescott
Sec/ IntelHe nodded to one of the cabinet and said “I have already seen to that, but good idea.”
Baumann, Intel
She was quiet for a moment, then lifted her chin. “Sir, do you still want me to come to you in 3 weeks to put you on your backside?” Her face was as professional as she could keep it. Though her micro-expressions were getting better, they weren’t mastered in the short time since he’d told her to work on them. But she was getting better. Unfortunately, he would certainly sense her apprehension as she awaited his answer. The slight clench of her jaw, the hard swallow that bobbed her throat and the slight, though swiftly ceased, fidgeting of her hands in her lap were signs she hadn’t mastered to a precision, yet.
