The day before had been rough. Prescott moved towards the MACO’s office and wondered just how badly she was gonna get it today from another superior officer. After three days, the bruises were starting to face, but she still looked like she’d taken a beating. The marks on her arms were still colored, though fading, as were the grip marks on her wrists. Her black eye was fading to just the dark impact point on her left cheekbone. She had let the Doc treat her, but knew there were some things she had to get over on her own.

As she reached the woman’s office, she straightened her uniform and tapped the chime. She was inspection ready… for the most part. And she knew the next few minutes may mean the difference between her staying on the ship, and having a job, or being sent away for her incompetence.

Melissa looked up “Enter Lt.” She said leaning back in her chair. Melissa had already read Prescott’s file and now the woman stood before her looking like the worst part of a bad night. Melissa stood up “You have three minutes to explain to me what the hell happened to you and why I should give you a chance to remain on this ship.” She said firmly. Melissa believed in second chances, hell she had had several second chances in her career, some she probably should have never had.
