Lawson turned around and shook his head. “You just come back and already up in everyone’s business, Fleet? You don’t even know what’s going on. Prescott has been sparring with Jensen for quite some time. But now, suddenly, she’s crying ‘assault’? Yeah… they break up and he’s the one in the brig.” He shook his head and turned back to his friends. “Go see your girl friend. I’m sure whoever she’s been with this last six months won’t mind stepping aside.” The group laughed and wandered off.
NE Lawson
EngineerKenny frowned. “Bruises are never OK, Lawson. No matter what the story. Remember that. I thought our society had moved past that kind of toxicity.”
He stepped away from Lawson and his cronies, slipping over and approaching Naomi. Then someone entered and started reading off the teams. Spoiling the surprise.
Just then, a Lieutenant walked in. His voice easily bellowed over the conversations in the bay. “All right, ladies and gentlemen! Let’s get this started so you can go back to whatever nothings you were doing before. We have cargo coming from the station and it all needs puttin’ away. So here’s the list of teams, get with your team leaders and let’s get things going. With any luck, we’ll be outa here in a couple hours!” He then began to read off the teams. As each team was read, the list was posted on the screen behind him where flight schedules usually were.

IC: Naomi turned to the security officer that spoke to her, her eyes caught the bruises and she froze in place. Unwanted memories flickered across her mind as she stumbled over what to say. Thankfully, an engineer officer addressed the topic. She snapped herself from the shock by shaking her head clear. Her crossed arms slacked then fell to her sides while she listened closely to their exchange.
At the mention of a simple sparring match causing all that damage, her stomach soured. Her arms clutched her middle in reaction. She didn’t notice the look that El gave her until too late.
The moment Lawson spoke, her expression scowled and she shot a venomous glare at him. While she didn’t say much, Kenny entered and took arms in the fight. She mumbled under her breath then looked at Elizabeth.
“Name’s Naomi Locke. Science department.” She introduced each of them, spotting Kenny return to their side.
Introductions ended shortly as the person in charge waltzed in. With a quick assignment of tasks and teams, he left them to their own devices once more.
“Don’t worry, I know that creep. Lawson. Kay wanted to smack him a month ago over his slimy comments. I think I’ll whip up some itching powder and slip some into his next wash.” A mischievous glint entered her eyes then walked to read the teams.
OOC: All right, want the four of us in a single team? I wouldn’t mind having Noami getting to know more about the new faces.

“Hey, Nomi,” Kenny said with a sweet smile, soured slightly by the bad taste left in his mouth from his interaction with Lawson. “Surprise!” He did jazz hands and grinned slightly. “I’m back on the ship!”
“And lastly, Lt. Fleet, Ensign Prescott, Ensign Locke, and Ensign El.” The lieutenant finished his list.
Lt. Fleet, Helm
The assignment for the four of them was to sort the incoming crates, barrels and other items into to the stacks for where they needed to go.
Prescott smiled and pushed away from the wall. “Well, let’s get going. Everyone else has grabbed their first batch, so we’ve got time to get some of this sorted before they come back.” She headed for the most recent pile of things and started moving them into piles for the different locations; science, engineering, mess, etc…
Prescott
Sec/Intel(relieved)El was used to this sort of detail and this kind of being placed into teams. Doing this would certainly break up the day and maybe give her a few more things to cart down to the machine shop. Following Prescott she moved around and looked at the labels on it. A lot for the mess by the look of it at least in that grouping. “Looks like a lot for the mess,” she commented, wrestling a barrel around a couple of boxes. It was more awkward than heavy with the deck cluttered with other things. She did notice some frames, lathe parts and lengths of metal that would be used in it. Good.
- El, EngLt. JG Sanks came in last, after sending all the messages the CO had made him send. He went up to Lt. Fleet for his orders. “Sorry, I’m late, CO had a ton of messages for me to send to everyone on the ship. I thought I was never going to get to leave the bridge.” He said smiling as he made that joke.
Lt Sanks, linguist“Ah, I’m not the guy in charge,” Kenneth gestured to the other Lt. who’d given out the assignments. “He’s the one you wanna talk to. I’m just a helmsman with more rank than I need,” he said with a chuckle.
Pretha smiled at the linguist. “Welcome to the party. Guess you’re with us. We’re sorting that huge pile,” she pointed to the crates, barrels and tubs near the shuttle exterior door, “into separate piles based on final location.” She moved back to the pile to get another item. The bruises on her wrist and arms obvious to anyone who looked. As well as the shiner on her left cheek that was fading like the arm marks.
Pretha
Sec/Intel (relieved)Kenny got to work silently when Pretha took over talking to Sanks, going after the heaviest accessible boxes first, with the thought that by the time they reached the end of this job, they’d be tireder, so it was best to start with the hardest stuff first. He hummed a little as he worked, focusing on finding where things went and moving them to the right places.
Lt Fleet, Helm
Naomi’s heart fluttered in her chest. A strong desire to simply kiss him rose up as she looked to him, admiring even his chirper traits. Months had made her realize how much she missed him. Her lips curled into a returning smile and her eyes softened toward him.
“Welcome back and I can see that. You also need to learn, nurses suck at lying.” A small chide for his efforts, but a chuckling edged into it.
Little did Kenny know, Naomi had called in early this morning to check on him. When the nurses had refused to wake him or give an explanation, her alarm bells went off. She thanked her days pranking her friends for this instinct.
She had been about to give into her earlier wants before Prescott chimed in with her group. For a moment, a bitterness washed over her. She wanted this to last a little longer. Instead, she just sighed then shook her.
“When we’re both off duty, we’re going to have a long talk.” She turned to follow Prescott and El, smirking mischievously.
As she stood there, listening to the other officers, her eyes noticed another person come in. Naomi thanked her stars she wasn’t late. Her eyes shot to Kenny and she shook her head.
“You earned that rank. Don’t you push it away and act like you didn’t.” She held her smile, finally moving to a crate and reading the label.
“If we look at the labels, we could have one person sort them into groups, and the rest of us put them away.” She spotted Kenneth trying to haul the stuff weighing the most, deciding to address it. Her worry could be heard in it.
“Kenneth! For the heavier stuff, we might need a cart. You just got out of a coma and I don’t want you going back into it!”

El pointed to a long flat box and tapped one end with a knuckle. Message boy whom El didn’t know was orbiting near and she caught Sanks’ eye. “Get the other end of this with me. Looks like it’s a console top.” She moved to the other side and wiped her hands on the bandana at her waist while she waited. “I’m El. I overheard you mention messages. What do you do?”
