El took the aft lift up to A Deck. Imagine, a starship with four decks! She had not been on one this large in training yet and this was a heady experience. She would have lots to tell Zeffie later about that. She was nervous, however. This had not been in her ‘orders’ per se regarding onboarding. Medical yes, as well as her chief. Maybe this was something that everyone did here? She was only a very junior officer. She was proud of that much, though it was daunting to think of her seeing ‘the’ captain. As she came onto the bridge - thankfully without the sea bag this time (that would have so not looked good!) - she peered about and took it in. It seemed smaller than she had thought it would be - the training simulation buildings with mock models of bridges tended to have no roof on them making it look bigger. With a ceiling it felt a bit more claustrophobic.

Quickly pulling herself away from the assessment of the architecture she keenly gazed about to spot the Captain. She knew it was a she. Noting the rank on one who looked .. well, she looked lovely. El felt a stab of jealousy that she pushed back. Approaching, El came to attention and saluted in a very ‘British’ fashion. “Ma’am, the chief engineer suggested I check in with you.” She made her tone to be such that it sounded entirely like it was a normal thing, though her stomach had a full battery of butterflies in them.

Ari was sitting in her chair, Padd in one hand, cup or tea in the other. As the JO came up and saluted, she looked up with a slightly confused face. The woman was wearing an engineering uniform and the Ensign pip meant she probably had no clue what was going on. Trying to make her face less confused looking, she set the PaDD in her lap. “Forgive me, Ensign. But did you say the Chief Engineer sent you up here? You had your boarding orders, I presume. Medical, then Engineering Chief then settle in your quarters. I don’t recall my presence being some place you needed to be. Are you sure he said for you to come see me?” She was a bit stimied why the Chief would send a JO up here unless it was to man a station. She glanced over her shoulder and another NE was sitting in the Engineering spot, glancing this way with equal confusion. Obviously they weren’t expecting a relief.

Ari went back to the woman’s face to await the answer.
