Ari tapped the comm on her chair, her finger rising a moment to pause Bohannon a moment. [O] Get them to a central evac point. The ship will be docking with the ring. It’s Bane’s ship.[O] While it was really Bane, and not so much a separate ship, it was easier than trying to explain at this moment. The important thing was to rescue who they could, as quickly as they could.

Turning to Bohannon, she smiled. “Take up the engineering post, I need to make sure we are ready when this fight arrives.” She nodded to the vacant post and turned back to the view screen.

Ari
CO

[O]Yes Captain.[O] She said as she began directing others to a central evac point for the incoming ship.

MACO

She said and stepped away and took out her communicator [O]Bonnie this is Barber-Tafoya. We need an emergency transport of three people to the Bonnie. We have a critically injured woman and a child. Isaac is coming back with them. I will be on the Bane. [O]

It did seem to take a while - certainly more than anticipated - before they could detect the formation of ‘something’ not far off from the City Sphere. At first it was nothing more than a swirling mist not much bigger than a shuttle pod. This grew slowly into a form of a rectangular box like shape that was no larger than the Bonnie, though it moved up against the Sphere and docked.

At that moment, though, another gravity repulsor failed and fell into the void. Alarms went off - the City Sphere was being pulled against the huge chains and cables that held it. With the repulsor gone the City shifted on its moorings …
- Wookiee

[O]Copy that… three for medical. They are standing by. Get everyone else on that ship. We need to get out of here before the enforcers show up.[O] She wasn’t sure who they were expecting. She just knew they would surely be here at the wrong time.

The sensors monitoring the motion of the City Sphere went off on the Bonnie and Ari caught it even as her engineering post notified her. “I saw it!” She hadn’t thought to ask Bane how to communicate with his ship, so she merely reached out to the others.

Suddenly another comm would come to the MACO. [O] BARBER![O] The call was impulsive. She knew they were there, but her mind reeled a moment and she just needed to hear the woman’s voice that she was still standing and capable. If she was, then the team was. If it was different, she knew Melissa would tell her.

She kept her face to the view screen as she called absently over her shoulder to those on the bridge. “I want to know if the tractor beam is strong enough to stabilize the sphere till Bane gets everyone off.” She was at her wits end. And her ideas were running out.

Ari
CO

The mass was pretty high with the City Sphere. It would be more likely that the Sphere would bounce the Bonnie about. The greater concern would be if the chains that held the city down to the surface gave way … something perhaps may be better done that way ..
Wookiee

Melissa’s voice came back hard and cold, giving the indication that things were not going well on the sphere [O]Captain, we’re here. Issac is transporting back with a woman and a child. The woman is is critical shape.[O]The groaning chains could be heard and Melissa’s voice growing louder directing people to the ship that had now docked with the sphere [O]I will be on the Bane. [O] She said and the comm link went dead.

MACO

The sway was evident and it was causing greater panic amongst the people. The only real way to the outside ‘hull’ was via the swing bridges. They were, with the momentum of the City Sphere affected more. As the Sphere found its far pendulum swing it held there. The Sphere shuddered and then started swinging back. Eventually that sway would cease and a new equilibrium found. For now, however, it was quite frightening for many.

Isaac returned to the bridge after he made sure the little girl was ok “sir it is a mad house down there”
He said taking his set back.

Lt. Isaac Black (AC)

Lt. Sanks sat at his console constantly typing away, keeping all the frequencies that the captain needed open for the communications of the ship, her personnel and Bane’s ship. He barely got to look at the main screen to see what was going on, he was focused on keeping the communications console working.
Lt. Sanks, Comms.

Ari nodded to Isaac but not much else. Suddenly she had an idea. “Helm, get us as close to the city sphere as we can. I need someone in that shuttle RIGHT NOW. We are going to use the shuttle phasers to weld the supports on the chains. We can use the Bonnie’s tractor beams to pull scrap metal to the chain to use as support.” She glanced around and shook her head. “Let’s hurry folks, we need to give them more time!”

She directed helm to get closer and set the tractor beams, and sent word to NE Masters and Nelson to man the shuttle. Then she tapped her comm for the MACO and Bane’s ship. [O] Keep hustling guys, but we are gonna try and little welding on the City chains to see if we can buy you some time. [O]

Ari
CO

As the Bonnie moved into position there they could see that the danger was twofold. One was that the strain and gravity was compromising the structural integrity of the outer hull of the City Sphere. There was no SI field there and, technically, little to do there but pray for it to not just shatter and give way. Underneath where the City was anchored to the surface of the Dyson Sphere by huge chains was another story. Ancient chains were strained and two areas in particular were showing fracturing in the metal structure of the links.
- Wookiee

Naomi found herself grateful to be on the bridge. She monitored her station as the CO gave direction and the helmsman followed them. Her eyes spotted the ancient chains fastened to the Dyson Sphere weaken. The stress building up began to get the better of them.

“Captain, the chains connecting the City to the Dyson Sphere are suffering from heavy stress. I located places suffering the most fracturing.” Immediately she slid to the side, allowing the Captain a better view of her screen. She pointed out the exact locations.

–ENS Naomi D. Locke, Sci

“Prepare to tractor to the given coordinates,” she said and tapped the comm near Naomi as she looked, [O] Shuttle, prepare to phaser on my marks. Incoming coordinates now. We will raise the debris, you stick it in place. Got it? [O]

She rested one hand on Naomi’s shoulder as she looked at the stress level markers and made her choice. She pointed to the weakest chain link, “Send those coordinates,” she said and moved back to the middle of the deck to organize the move. “Ok there is a large piece there,” she pointed to the right of the viewer and the camera panned over to a large broken strut still clinging to the side of the outer sphere and not supporting anything anymore. “Grab that and set it between links 2 and 3.”

She watched as everyone did their job and unconsciously chewed on her right fingernail as she half held her breath.

Ari
CO

[O] Stand by. I’m heading into position right now. [O]

It was a bit before the Alison called back again.

[O] Bonaventure. I’m in position. [O]

Ltjg Barr - CSO

“Ok, folks… let’s do this.”

It took a couple minutes to get the piece lifted to the right spot, but the Bonnie did her best. If she could get it in place they would be set. [O] Stand by, Barr… when you see it stop, phaser that thing as quick as you can.[O] She watched with crossed arms, one hand to her mouth as she tapped her nails on her teeth in nervousness to see if they could make it work.

Ari
CO

As they worked, the bright light of the phaser shot out on the viewscreen, looking all the more bright in that it was contrasted against virtual darkness.

The downside that Locke would see was that there was strain on multiple sections. Ages of stresses was now coming to fruition. The best that they could do was buy time .. but any time was good time ..

As the reinforcement went on, Ari tapped out for her cook to bring her and the bridge crew something to eat. She then tapped out for the galley to send food to the main departments for crewmen unable to get to the galley to eat. Her final command was to the various department heads to remind them to rotate folks out to give them a break.

They weren’t out of the woods, yet. And if company showed, they needed no one passing out from hunger.

One piece then a second were welded into place. That was the plan for the other 2 chains as well if nothing else went wrong.

Ari
CO

The ‘plan’ was trekking along well … until sensors detected three objects coming in. Where they came from was anyone’s guess but course readings suggested they had came from surface areas. They were not together as one but coming in from three different directions. They were large, about a Bonnie and a half in size and looking more like a square body with spidery mechanical legs. They had similar signatures to the outer skin of the Dyson Sphere.

They were heading toward the location of First City. The only transmission which was eerily not focused was more toward one another in a wide band than toward the Bonnie. =^= Bane Vessel detected. Intercept. =^=

What was, perhaps, a more troubling event was that the huge doors to the outside were slowly closing …
- Wookiee

Ensign Bohannon took his station and waited further orders,

Bohannon

Ari stood up as the objects broadcast. [O] Shuttle… get your butts back here RIGHT NOW! Just stop and do it! We have company. [O] Ari’s hand was on the chair arm as she spoke, the broadcast hitting the shuttle and the Bane ship as well as the MACO and away teams. Everyone heard all the messages. [O] BANE! They are here! Barber… time is up. Get those folks on board or they are left behind. ]O] The ache in her chest at the realization the wouldn’t get everyone was evident in her voice.

“Helm… soon as the shuttle is aboard, get us thru that door.” She was watching it close wondering if waiting would take too long. She did the mental calculations of just telling the shuttle to run for the door and join up once outside.

Ari
CO

Tactical would show that the course of the trio of ships was directed straight toward Bane’s ship. ETA was just under 5 minutes.
Wookiee

[O]Captain?[O] After a minute Alison responded again. [O]I’m on my way back.[O]

Ltjg Barr - CSO

Ari hated it but she tapped the console. “Damn it…[O]Shuttle… haul ass… we got incoming and need to hold them off to give the Bane as much time as we can…[O] Helm… get us out of here as soon as the shuttle is in.”

She hated not shoring up the sphere better. But five minutes wasn’t enough time. And as much as she hated to possibly strand or doom the rest on the sphere, her crew had to come first.

She watched with her finger tip in her mouth as she watched the enemy approach. “Red Alert!” she called out. If they could, they’d run… she just hoped they could.

Ari
CO

Naomi tensed from the CO’s unexpected touch. An impulse she couldn’t help as her head jerked to the side, spotting the CO. She immediately relaxed upon realizing the source. All her attention returned to the console screen when the Captain made her orders. Naomi’s fingers flew across the keys, sending the coordinates to the shuttle.

Things appeared to going well until the Bane ship arrived. As the CO called the shuttle back, Naomi monitored the Bane ship’s approach. When the deck blared the alarm and flashed red, her heart began to race and her breath became short. Calm down… Calm down… She pleaded at herself as she continued to focus on her current task. It seemed to work for now, but she didn’t know for how long.

–ENS Naomi D. Locke, Sci

(((OOC… just a hint, Bane ship is inside with us… enemies of Bane AND us are approaching in those three ships))

[O]Understood Captain. We need just a couple more minutes.[O] She said as she maneuvered her way toward the Bane “Everyone let’s go. Move move move.” She said as she heard the sound of atmosphere escaping. She pushed people onto the ship as she stepped onto the Bane. She finally had a chance to look behind her “Let’s move people don’t stop to talk. We can talk later.” She ordered, her voice carrying over the din. [0}Captain, we have everyone as far as I can tell. The Bane is clear to leave. [0] She said hoping that no one had gotten left behind. She looked out the small window as the door slid shut, if anyone was still on the sphere, it was too late. She swallowed down the feeling of uncertainty. This was an emergency situation and people would die, more would die if they didn’t leave now.
