Bane appeared the long suffering being that a future Q might make. “No, the smaller living spheres here. Like Dal’s and others like them here inside this Dyson Sphere. You are focused on this large sphere - granted that is failing and will soon be pulled into the singularity - I am asking about the others that live beyond Dal’s smaller home sphere. Are they left behind? From my speaking with the others in the shuttle there may be again that population of beings not in this First City Sphere. “

She was at her wits end… save some, save none, leave others to chance? How did one make such a decision?

She gave a short barked laugh that sounded like it bordered on hysteria or helplessness. “I don’t suppose you know how to fix the black hole so we don’t have to worry about it?” She knew she had to make a decision fast. Save who she could, or risk losing everyone.

“Would that the Bane could,” he said.

Melissa responded [0]Can we suspend some of them in the transport buffer for the time being. We still have a large portion of the population down here.[0] She said quietly [0]We tell them 20 more and we’re going to have a riot on our hands. Lt Black believes that it is possible based on research. It’s not perfect…but we have to do something.[0]

Numbers would be limited that way .. and experimental. Transporter tech was still fledgling. Risks were high.

Ari sat back in her chair a moment, her console bringing up the information as it came to her chair. A sigh settled out of her and she shook her head. Pressing the comm she responded to the MACO [O]We could try. But honestly, it’s risky. I can’t say with certainty how many would survive and be restored later. I....[O] she paused a moment and exhaled long and slow. [O]Stand by…[O]

She stood and looked at Bane. “I know the risks, but it can’t be helped. We try and see how many we can help… or we do nothing and everyone dies, regardless.” It was a hard decision, but she had to make it. “Take us to Red Alert,” she ordered the bridge. The red lights falling around the ship as tactical posts were soon being scattered to.

Her gaze went back to Bane. “I accept… how do we get everyone onto your ship?” It was the best she could come up with. She was still loathing ever coming out here in the first place.

Bane, in Ari form, frowned in thought. “I can dock with the City Sphere and start .. small. I can expand. But I don’t know at what point the Sentinels here will pick me up.”

With that Bane essentially dissolved, a trace of cloud floating toward a bulkhead and disappearing through it.

Ari nodded and watched the Bane disappear. “Ok everyone. Brace for incoming.” She tapped the console. [O] Attention all away teams. A ship will be docking with the City Sphere. I want everyone on board that we can get. Shuttles, keep bringing them here. If we are stuffed, we’ll see about crossing to other ship at first opportunity. And guy… be alert. We are gonna get resistance from outside. I want everyone at Red Alert.[O]

She didn’t like it, but she had no choice. Her conscious was already screaming at how many would get left behind.

[O] Understood Captain. Just cleared the Bonaventure, and making my next run. [O]

Hearing the red alert, Ensign Bohannon walked onto the bridge. “Ensign Bohannon reporting for bridge duty” he said.

Bohannon

[0] Captain, what are your orders. Where do you want me to direct people. [0] Melissa asked as she separated people into groups of 20. “Everyone listen up.” Melissa said “We have another ship that is going to dock with us. Prepare to move out as soon as it’s docked.” She said

MACO

Ari tapped the comm on her chair, her finger rising a moment to pause Bohannon a moment. [O] Get them to a central evac point. The ship will be docking with the ring. It’s Bane’s ship.[O] While it was really Bane, and not so much a separate ship, it was easier than trying to explain at this moment. The important thing was to rescue who they could, as quickly as they could.

Turning to Bohannon, she smiled. “Take up the engineering post, I need to make sure we are ready when this fight arrives.” She nodded to the vacant post and turned back to the view screen.

[O]Yes Captain.[O] She said as she began directing others to a central evac point for the incoming ship.

MACO

She said and stepped away and took out her communicator [O]Bonnie this is Barber-Tafoya. We need an emergency transport of three people to the Bonnie. We have a critically injured woman and a child. Isaac is coming back with them. I will be on the Bane. [O]

MACO

It did seem to take a while - certainly more than anticipated - before they could detect the formation of ‘something’ not far off from the City Sphere. At first it was nothing more than a swirling mist not much bigger than a shuttle pod. This grew slowly into a form of a rectangular box like shape that was no larger than the Bonnie, though it moved up against the Sphere and docked.

At that moment, though, another gravity repulsor failed and fell into the void. Alarms went off - the City Sphere was being pulled against the huge chains and cables that held it. With the repulsor gone the City shifted on its moorings …

[O]Copy that… three for medical. They are standing by. Get everyone else on that ship. We need to get out of here before the enforcers show up.[O] She wasn’t sure who they were expecting. She just knew they would surely be here at the wrong time.

The sensors monitoring the motion of the City Sphere went off on the Bonnie and Ari caught it even as her engineering post notified her. “I saw it!” She hadn’t thought to ask Bane how to communicate with his ship, so she merely reached out to the others.

Suddenly another comm would come to the MACO. [O] BARBER![O] The call was impulsive. She knew they were there, but her mind reeled a moment and she just needed to hear the woman’s voice that she was still standing and capable. If she was, then the team was. If it was different, she knew Melissa would tell her.

She kept her face to the view screen as she called absently over her shoulder to those on the bridge. “I want to know if the tractor beam is strong enough to stabilize the sphere till Bane gets everyone off.” She was at her wits end. And her ideas were running out.

The mass was pretty high with the City Sphere. It would be more likely that the Sphere would bounce the Bonnie about. The greater concern would be if the chains that held the city down to the surface gave way … something perhaps may be better done that way ..

Melissa’s voice came back hard and cold, giving the indication that things were not going well on the sphere [O]Captain, we’re here. Issac is transporting back with a woman and a child. The woman is is critical shape.[O]The groaning chains could be heard and Melissa’s voice growing louder directing people to the ship that had now docked with the sphere [O]I will be on the Bane. [O] She said and the comm link went dead.
