Once everyone was in it was apparent that this airlock could accommodate three times their number - if a bit squishy.

The door they entered through had a similar internal mechanism on the inside of the door. Securing the door from the inside was a matter of a wheel that again secured the bolt like levers. The additional separate lever that was only at the far door looked to have something to do with atmospheric pressure within. An engineer looking at that showed that likely to be pump action activation or at least geared to (pardon the pun) activate on use of the lever.

Ari’s voice, albeit a bit shaky, was being broadcast to all the away teams. [O]This is the Captain… shove who you can in transports and get them out. Everyone else get into groups and prepare for transport. The Bonnie is coming in.[O]

Alison had her hand on the lever when she got the comm from the Captain. Pulling her hand back she instead tapped the comm circuit on her environmental suit.

[O] Understood Captain. We’re returning to the shuttlepod. Barr out. [O]

“Sorry everyone, looks like we have a change in plans. I’m not sure what the Captain is planning, but for now let’s head back to the shuttlepod, and back to the Bonnie.”

Moving back over to the door they came in, she pulled it back open, before making her way down the ladder and retracing their steps back to the shuttlepod.

“Damn, I was looking forward to more exploring” replied Jay.

But following orders he headed down the ladder and back towards the shuttle pod.

“Me too Ensign. But if the Captain is bringing the Bonaventure into the sphere, things must have accelerated quickly. They are probably needing to start mass evacuations, and are going to need us back up on the ship,” Alison said as they made the trek back to the shuttlepod.

When they finally arrived back at the shuttlepod, everyone got settled in while she repressurized the pod. As soon as the light turned green, she popped the visor on her environmental suit, quickly followed by pulling her helmet off.

“Alright everyone, hold on,” she said as she tucked the helmet down behind the pilot’s seat. “Let’s get back to the Bonanventure and see what is going on.”

Jay took his gear off and took a seat..he wondered if he was in for a bumpy ride.

Hitting the accent thrusters, Alison started the process of getting the shuttlepod back to the ship.

The trip up was as .. interesting .. as the way down with the tangle of girders and metal bedrock warped and torn through the years. Knowing what to expect, Barr was able to better negotiate their way through it without bumps or scrapes. It was not long before they spotted both First City’s glowing great sphere and detect the Bonnie on their sensors.

Around the sphere there were a number of transports or repair pods docked at points along the ‘equator’ of it or hovering nearby.

“Well we certainly missed something,” Alison said as she craned her neck to look out the pod’s window. Where had all of those transports come from.

[O] Shuttlepod to Bonaventure. This is Lt Barr, we are on our way back. Are we clear to dock? [O]

The Captain’s voice popped up. [O]Barr.. make it quick, and tell them they are unloading and heading back for more. We need as many runs as possible. Clear in docking bay one. Unload and get everyone to you bring in to the mess hall. We’re gonna be crowded quickly. Minimal rations when they get hungry but let’s hold out as long as we can on water and juice and tea till we see how bad this is gonna be.[O]

[O] Understood Captain. As soon as we dock, we’ll flip this shuttlepod and head back for another load. [O]

“Alright everyone, it looks like we are looking to evacuate the surface. So as soon as we dock, head for the mess hall, and I will go back for another fun.”

Docking would go smoothly allowing everyone clustered in the shuttle to stream out.

After docking the young Engineer would respond, “Lt. Barr, I think I better head down to engineering to help there in this time of need. Thank you for allowing me to join the landing party.”

“Ensign,” Alison said turning around in the pilots seat as she was finishing up the landing check list. “You’re welcome to join my team anytime,” she said with a smile before turning back to the controls.

Time seemed to slow down. Despite the bustle, people weren’t coming to the Bonnie quick enough.

Shuttles from the cities and from the star ship worked quick and sure. And the transporters were popping folks aboard one by one. Ari watched the stats and listened to the comms as she also watched the structural integrity readings… she wasn’t sure they’d make it.

[O]Barr to the bridge. I am unloaded, refueled, and headed back to the surface for another load. [O]

As she said it, she signaled to the watch officer that she was ready to depart.
