Walking up to the Captain’s office, Owen straightened his uniform and took in his surroundings before making himself known to the person inside the office.

“Come…” The words were clear and the door slid open at the voice. When he walked in, he would see the Captain in the chair behind her desk. Her brunette hair plaited in a coil on the back of her head and her hazel flecked blue eyes darting between a monitor screen and the PADD in her hand. The room was modestly decorated with ‘just’ enough to personalize it but not enough to make it seem a museum. There was a bat’leth on the wall behind the desk and various oddities on a shelf along the window’s edge including a couple crystalline rock samples, a jar with iridescent blue liquid and a branch with a half open blue flower bud frozen in suspended animation.

Stepping through the door, Owen looked around the room taking in all the surroundings and making a mental note in his head.

She looked up at he entered and a smile lit her face.

“Commander Xander reporting for duty Captain” he spoke stepping towards the woman, extending his arm for a handshake.

Ari smiled and rose up to go shake his hand. “Welcome to the Bonnie, Commander. Call me Ari, when we’re not neck deep in aliens or space messes.” She laughed and offered him a seat. “Can I get you a cup of tea or juice? If you want something else, I can have some sent.”

Sitting back on her chair, she leaned back and watched him a moment before speaking again. “So what, in all the four quadrants, made you want to come out to the far side of nowhere on the Bonnie?” It always made her curious how folks ended up out here with her ship. Scientists, she understood. They wanted the unknown and deep space was where that was. But everyone else? The lure eluded her for others outside that limited category.
