Melissa brought her shuttle toward the sphere and docked =^=Barber-Tafoya to Bonnie. I am going to explore the sphere and the city within it. I will contact you shortly with what I find out.”=^= She said as she secured the shuttle and stepped into the sphere.

MACO

OOC: Just to clarify my addled Monday brain cells .. this is the Sphere City within the Dyson Sphere? And, anyone else with you? . Gene

OOC: I can make some NPCs otherwise not at this point....
OOC No problem. If any of the crew wanted to join you from your group just insert them ..

The sphere was not just ‘one’ that made up the city but a whole collection of them. They ranged from large to small, made of the same milky translucent material that Dal’s home sphere was made to a mix of that and metal or other items cobbled together, to metallic. Many were grouped and connected by way of tubes though some were independent. The shapes were generally spherical, though some were of various other shapes. Outside of the general range of the collection of spheres were a veritable battery of anti-grave repulsers. While many were active, still others were not.

There were few space vehicles about though some were docked to the largest of the spheres. Most looked as cobbled together as any Melissa had seen. She passed from the pod to a staging area that formed the shell of the sphere. The inside reminded her of the inside of a wasp nest where the decks were in the central core and visible to the eye (as in no shell around them). They were connected by long rope bridges. Melissa could pick out commercial and residential areas though manufacturing or other might e elsewhere.

OOC: Am I remembering correctly that the MACO’s took a medic with them?

OOC: In this particular thread I’m fine with more than Melissa tracking about there :) .. Plant yourselves in if you like .. Gene

NE Blackwell followed the MACO team rather nervously, this was her first mission with an armed escort and the first time since joining the Bonnie she’d left the ship “Where do we go Ma’am” The doctor said in her Bristol accent.

NE Blackwell

There were no less than four different ‘race’ types that they could see at that time. The thin, slight race like Dal, and the more bulky reptilian race like the ‘mayor’s’ bodyguard. But there were two others that they could see in the distance - one a shorter, squatter being looking like a cross between a dwarf and a frog. The fourth were taller and sleek with three legs but cowled in a monk-like habit. Heads turned, though didn’t pay a great deal of attention to them - yet.
- Wookiee

Blackwell looked around the room with great interest. She had rarely seen aliens beyond the odd Vulcan or other similar species with relations with Earth. This was like one of those outposts she’d read about in Medical school. Luckily she was there to aid the MACO team and not attempt to service these strangers, that was beter left to people who actually specialize in that.

NE Blackwell

Melissa watched Blackwell “Just keep a low profile, we just want to get a feel for what is going on. Don’t over react, just keep cool.” She said knowing that this was Blackwell’s first mission as an armed escort. “What are the rules for first contact?” Melissa asked the younger MACO.

MACO

OOC: Blackwell is a junior Doctor/Medic under Dr Grey, not a MACO.
IC:

“Stand back and allow MACO’s to operate, Ma’am” The young woman said after a moments consideration. “I have directions from Doctor Grey to focus on providing Medical services just to your people and to give advise if neccecary” She tried her best to hide her nervousness, although to the MACO it would be rather obvious.

NE Blackwell, Doctor

Melissa looked at Blackwell “Don’t change anything in the civlization we’re in. Blend in as much as you can and keep yourself safe.” She said “Keep close and if you see anything say something.” She said as she moved confidently through the area, taking in the sights and sounds of the sphere.

MACO

Blackwell nodded, trying to shake out some of the nervousness “Yes Ma’am, I’ll do just that” She smiled awkwardly but didn’t look back at the MACO.

Dr. Blackwell - NE

The bridge that they crossed to get to the main ‘honeycomb’ was patched and looked more like a rope bridge made of structurally more sturdy materials. Thus it did’t so much sway when they traversed its narrow, barely two way path, but creaked. The gravity was about half earth normal which mean there were some kind of generators going. Whether this was normal or reduced was anyone’s guess.

Their path took them into a narrow street that was laden with street vendors per se of each of the four races that they’d seen thus far. They appeared to be flogging goods anywhere from what looked like junk salvage to foodstuffs to art or other trinkets. In a way it appeared more like a junkyard salvage of sorts than anything that was ‘new’. It also appeared that the currency was more barter of sorts than anything, though they could see some of the barters involving the handing over of small discs.

As soon as the group was passing through there were beings in front of their stalls who were approaching them, reaching for anything they had that was visible - not as a matter of theft or anything hostile (unless one took market vendors hostile) but of interest in their goods.
- Wookiee

Melissa watched the interactions carefully and thought to herself ~I should have done more research and made sure we had currency.~ Melissa kept her eyes open and stopped at one of the stall that had food and politely asked what they were serving at the stall. It smelled good and she was curious. She also wanted to show the Ensign how to be a bit more relaxed when meeting a new species. “This smells very good.” She said to the vendor “What is it called?”

MACO

Blackwell watched carefully as the senior officer talked with the aliens. She thought back to the memorandum her… eccentric boss had written up regarding the specie. She had made a note of the curious nature of their food and the sparsity and value they placed in it. Quetly she picked up her bioscanner from her bag and scanned the foodstuffs as per protocol.

NE Dr Blackwell

Scans showed the food was edible. Fibre content was high and vitamin and mineral levels on the comparatively low side. It was distinctly spiced and with a sauce; it would have a strong and perhaps spicy taste. There as no real meat content - everything was vegetable based and, in this particular run of dishes looked rather like a dipped small pineapple cooked on a skewer with a line of them on the skewer. “Reute Nut,” was the reply from the vendor. “Cooked in Domeg Root sauce. Very good. We trade?” The vendor was one of the squat bipedal dwarf-like frog beings. The voice was surprisingly higher pitched and while not a perhaps expected croak, was more screechy.
- Wookie

Blackwell looked over the scans a couple of times before speaking “It’s vegetable matter, Dr. Grey mentioned something similar in her report, although I don’t recall anything regarding monetary value and I don’t have anything tradable on me” She remarked as she looked at the foodstuffs, having just realized she was becoming rather hungry.

NE Dr. Blackwell

Melissa smiled and shuffled through her pockets for something to trade to try the skewers “Let’s see, I have some credits, some chocolate and a protein bar.” She said “Which would you like to trade for one of the Reute Nut?” She asked.

MCO

The vendor looked the items over, examining the credits with some intent before tapping the protein bar. “Food for food?” A small crowd was forming around them. As much as they were one of a number of ‘alien’ types there they were still unique. Small conversations of various types sounded about them. “You have more for trade if good?” it asked.
- Wookiee

Blackwell looked at the MACO, the bar then at the Alien Vendor. then she looked around at the small crowd and instinctively grabbed her medkit a little tighter. Suddenly she regretted not taking some snacks with her here, she hadn’t expected that they would be doing any shopping. Actually she hadn’t really expected much of anything, or she had expected a great deal just nothing that had happened. So for this was a rather enjoyable experience “I have nothing to trade on me” She smiled apologetically. She considered that her boss would probably have all sorts of knickknacks in the multitudes of pockets in her uniform.

NE Dr. Blackwell

Slowly it seemed there was more of a crowd forming about them, with one particularly, and unusually tall being that was of the more reptilian ilk peering over the others. It looked to be more of a security role than a merchant role. The general ‘murmur’ is that of not having a clue who these pale aliens were.
- Wookiee

Melissa handed over the protein bar “I do have two more.” She said being very aware of the growing crowd, she took the food from the vender and gave him the protein bar. She turned to the group and took a bite of the Reute Nut. It was actaully quite tasty “Very good.” She said as she handed him another protein bar for another skewer of the food. She nodded to the tall reptilian in the back and moved toward him “I’m Lt. Col Melissa Barber-Tafoya.” She said.

MACO

Blackwell clenched her bag tighter and grimaced at the move. She didn’t have it in her to just move over and talk to a stranger, let alone a strange alien… guard? She guessed by his demenour. She wondered if the rank Lieutenant Colonel meant anything to the alien or if their translators could translate it. She didn’t have any experience with such devices as they weren’t that commonplace on Earth, at least not in Bristol.

NE Dr. BLackwell

The large ‘alien’ looked from Blackwell to Melissa and snorted, its expression one of skeptical thought but at the same time straightening. “Regent,” he said in a bass voice like it came from within a cavern. “Why you come? Where you come from?” He looked at the Reute Nut. “Reute. Good.”
- Alien Critter

Melissa nodded “Regent.” She repeated making sure that she had heard him correctly “We’re here to meet some of the folks here and learn more about the multiple cultures here.” She said “We…” Melissa looked at those with her “We come from a place called earth.” Melissa took another bite of the Reute “This is very good.” She said “How many species do you have on the sphere?” She asked looking for a common ground.

MACO

The creature looked confused - apparently that was at least to some degree universal. “No, you are Regent.” The possible supposition on there was that the ‘rank’ Melissa had said had translated to another name with him. “Earth. Ground. This home has dirt?” he asked. “Is it near?” That apparently interested him greatly.

“I am R’way. We are four here.” Looking at Melissa again he then said. “Five now.”
- R’way

Melissa smiled catching on that Regent was a rank “Yes, Earth has dirt. It is many light years away from here.” She said “We are explorers and our mission is to meet new species and discover new worlds. ” She added “It is nice to meet you R’Way. I am Melissa.” She said “This is Dr. Blackwell, one of our healers.” She said “This is Private Emerson, one of my staff.” She said speaking to R’Way.
