Baumann stepped off the lift and onto the bridge, looking around.

It was quiet, as it typically was so late at night… or was it early in the morning? Sometimes the transitional times were hard to discern on star ship moving through space. Baumann made his way to the center chair and looked at Lt. Kolf. “Lieutenant. Status report.” the big German said as as the Lieutenant stood up and he took the seat.

“All quiet, Commander. Engineering is running diagnostics on some secondary systems. Medical reports two in Sick Bay, nothing major, both expected back at full duty within hours. Science has begun processing scan data from the comet we encountered yesterday. Other than that, nothing reported.” Baumann nodded and said “Thank you, Lieutenant. You are relieved.” in his typical formal manner; but then in a small, but less formal, manner he added “Get some sleep. Well done.” Kolf nodded once and excused himself, leaving the bridge to do as instructed.

Baumann leaned back in the chair, and watched the stars pass by on the view screen in silence.
