She left the comms open as they had been, but she turned her attention to Barr. “It makes sense. In a closed environment like that, whether they know it or not, some kind of hierarchy was bound to be created. Ok, so we can’t really make the weakest the strongest. But we also can’t help the strongest stomp the weakest. So… suggestions? My thoughts are we get the leaders together and see if there is a way to work together, or separate them in the sphere so they aren’t on top of one another. Then maybe work together to stay alive?” She had no idea what had started the infighting, so figuring out a solution at this point was premature.

But then she sighed again. How do you tell someone the inside of their world isn’t all there is? She knew it wasn’t her place to simply say ‘hey, there’s a whole universe out there’. But at the same time, she couldn’t just turn her back on them now they were here. “I should have stayed a scientist,” she thought just as her comm system beeped. There was an urgent incoming message. A frown darkened her features as she rose and moved to her ready room, “Barr… hold things together a moment, I need to get this message.”

Growling at the timing, she closed her door and tapped out the code to retrieve the message…

Captain Bovar,

At this time we would like all exchange officers who are in Command positions in Starfleet to stand down from those positions. This is due to some reorganizations in our different member ranks.

In this regard we would like Commander T’Leia to step down into an advisory or diplomatic capacity until things are finalized.

Thank you for your cooperation at this time.

“WHAT!?” Her growled anger was heard on the bridge a moment before she came back to her seat and tapped the comm. [O]T’Leia, as of right now, you are adviser to Lieutenant Commander Baumann, who is hereby field promoted to XO. Orders from High Command.[O] She knew it would throw things into a kilter on the away mission, but if she didn’t do this now, things that occurred after the missive had reached her, and she’d been seen as reading it, could make things hairy for them all. She just hoped everyone could keep it together and just do what they were doing. She had faith in Baumann to step up, he was practically her third in command down there as it was.

[O] Lieutenant Baumann, you are hereby field promoted to Lieutenant Commander and made XO for the duration of the mission. T’Leia is your adviser. Mission parameters haven’t changed. I have every faith in you. [O] She knew the words weren’t very comforting, but it couldn’t be helped. Still… the question remained… how do you help a sequestered species without interfering too much?

In his typical even and calm manner, Baumann responded over the comms to T’Leia and the Bonaventure bridge. The only response was [O] Understood, Captain. [O] and then his comms switched back to the frequency that included the ‘discussion’ with the Raider group.

The simple fact that Baumann didn’t react in any particular way was a sign to Ari that he would do what was needed, but when he came back, he would want an explanation. She waited for T’Leia’s response but knew they were busy enough not to be bothered. It was logged, it was done, that’s all that was needed for it to be official. Now it was time to get back to the task at hand.
