At this point the two elders turned and moved to where many of the clan was clustered. With both gestures and short cursory words they urged them to move. A half dozen immediately went down a ladder to a level below, and a smaller number went up. The rest, yet a mix of perceived genders and ages collected the young among them into a group.

Dal replied to Locke and Alan. “They gather what is needed. Food. Necessities. The others go to the pod. We can all fit, but the pod will not support us all. Not enough air/power.”

From the window, one of the crew would see two other dots, faint but approaching more slowly from the opposite direction of the other two.

Alan thought for a moment. “Wuh hash tor etwel hali nam-tor ri wu. I ri tor fai-tor na’ ac’ruth, hi sos’eh kuv du nem-tor tepul sad s’ ek’ torektra kaula mishu heh ha’kiv nenikaya, kupi du tor ish-veh wuh zamu minutes?” (The flight to our ship is not long. I do not know for certain, but maybe if you take power away from all systems except engines and life support, could you make it a few minutes?) he was no engineer, but maybe more power would buy them more time.

Dal replied, his demeanor sad.

T’Leia nodded, that was a good question that Dysart had asked. She looked toward Dal as they awaited the answer.

Commander T’Leia

“It is not power. It is space. Once there were three such transports. Long ago. Now there is one. One was bartered. The other took apart for parts.” He gestured to their living sphere. “This does not move. There is power, but no way to move it. And even if it was so, then what? Where would we go?”

Rachel went with the rest of the team, assisting those in need. She prioritized those that were very injured, the elderly and those that looked like children. With some effort and hard work they could get this crew away in time… Hopefully.

Dr. Grey - CMO

It was a challenge to see just how bad some were what with the physiological differences, but there was some semblance of satisfaction in the end that Grey had done her best.

Naomi had edged over to Kenny. She subtly and gently elbowed him in the side then gestured to the issue he could resolve, either by boosting the power or rerouting power from non-important systems. As she noticed the group begin to collect, she inhaled and moved forward. Her eyes scanned through the numerous individuals as she picked out the wounded. Those she sent over to Dr. Grey for treatment and to become more stable for transport. The healthy ones were grouped together and gradually lead to the pod. Once there, she helped them find a spot then prepare for departure.

Bump 6.4.

Soon they all moved through the tube to their transport. The two new ‘dots’ slowly grew larger, but were still too far off to have visibility on it besides the fact that they were evidently ships of some kind. The transport was a smaller squashed sphere. It looked like it was used for whatever this clan actually did and there was a fair amount of cargo space. Still it was geared for only a few crew and the rest being cargo; it was cramped to begin with. They all worked on crowding in depending on how the Elders and Grey sought to lace them which was in line with the females and young. The Elders, however, insisted on others younger than they entering first.

Seeing the elders had insisted on females and young going first, Naomi took pains to make sure they were in the front. She quickly helped the individuals to tightly squeeze in wherever they could. Any unneeded baggage was quickly removed for additional room. Any stragglers she quickly encouraged a faster pace than their current one.

Her eyes glanced toward the view where they could see the ships in the distance. Though they looked far off, Naomi knew they wouldn’t stay that way and tried to retain her calm.

T’Leia looked toward Lt. Commander Fleet,”Chief I would like you to have a look at their engines. Perhaps something can be done.” She said as they came up to the vessels side.

Commander T’Leia

The ‘vessel’ that T’Leia referred to had seen better days. Peering out a long thin rectangular port hole at it, the design was basic as a flattened cigar with a slight indentation at the forward area for, presumable the bridge or control room. It looked to be shaped for storage or cargo moreso than passengers; the central hold was the largest area for placing the clan. Even so it would be like stuffing a telephone booth with people. Dal tugged on her tunic. “How can Dal help?” He asked. By his movements he was nervous and shifting from one foot to the other. Behind him others of his clan were approaching with sacks of what might be foodstuffs. Beside one of the ‘little’ ones, followed a creature about a meter long that looked for all the world like a giant millipede, but it was following the child at her heels.

“Kanok-veh, nem-tor ish-veh shitau. Either svi’ wuh hali il svi’ zehl.” (Everyone, take your places. Either in the ship or in line.) Alan looked around. So many people. he thought.

Rachel continued with her assisting of the elderly and injured. “Arrange them in a way that prioritizes seating for those with difficulty standing” She quietly informed her crewmates. She talked softly and had a kind smile on as she continued with her work.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Naomi caught Rachel’s direction then nodded. She adjusted her tactics to usher everyone into the shuttle with those having issues to stand being seated. Throughout the process, she tried to remain calm. Her face revealed none of her panic in her core and her heart seemed to tick down the seconds they had remaining. Would they survive this? The question poured into her head as the fear turned up a notch, trying to unnerve her. She fought against it with some heavy effort.

They moved in. Some were calm and some were confused and afraid, and that went throughout all the age groups. When the realization hit that not everyone was going to be going and that some of the sub families were going to be split then it became all the more emotional. Some small children tried to break away to get to their fathers who were out in the tube; two broke away and moved to rush out …

OOC: It looks like we have lost our only CE and engineer as I can’t get a hold of Miriam so I will play an NE to cover for this while we search for a new one.
OOC: Eep!

IC: Nodding to the Commander NE Phillips, toolkit in hand moved to where the engine compartment was and set his kit down. Opening it he took out the tools he needed as he began an assessment of the engines.

There was a premium on seating which were more like old round bar stools at points where there were consoles. Some had brought along things that appeared to be small bean bag pillows. They crowded in as much as they could in the cramped cargo space, leaving a number still out in the round tube like hall.

The engines were ion based and distinctly sub-light. Their general condition was at best poor. They look to have been maintained, but with ad hoc parts, chewing gum and baling wire. At best it may make .1c thoguh that may be a stretch. The life support on it was the challenge - it was not designed for a packed ship. They only had a limited amount of time they could actually be out - and that was less than an hour.

NE Phillips looked back up to Commander T’Leia who was standing just inside the ship’s hatch as she watched the displaced people settling in and glancing at Phillips occasionally.

“The engines aren’t great, Ma’am but we could definitely get the ship moving though not very fast. It’s the environmental that concerns me more. It is not designed to function with this number of people aboard.” He reported.

“Could we get parts beamed down that would increase their efficiency?” T’Leia asked as she absorbed what he said.

Phillips frowned as he considered her question in light of the systems before him.
