“I would tend to agree. Or at least that is Dal’s function. As a goodwill ambassador. Though he seemed rather nervous. Maybe he’s new, or they’re open but not used to visitors.”
-Lt(j.g.) Alan Dysart, Linguist
As they progressed further into the sphere, the communicator activated. [O]Baumann, T’Leia… we have something detaching from the ship. Something large. Keep your hackles up.[O] came the voice of the Captain. Baumann stopped for a moment and said [O] Understood, Captain. Please keep us updated [O] and he looked at Commander T’Leia. “Commander, perhaps a query to our guide would be prudent at this point?” In his mind, Baumann was in charge of Security. He would let the discussions and negotiations be handled by others. Looking back at Woods he said calmly. “Head on a swivel, Mr. Woods. We may have further guests.”
Baumann, AC
T’Leia nodded as she took a step forward closer to Dal.”Can we ask what the object was that just detached from your equatorial region? It has our ship concerned.” She asked hoping she would be understood, she looked toward Dysart in case his translation was needed.
OOC: GM, is Dal speaking standard now? Or are our translators working? Or is he still speaking the Vulcan hybrid?
Commander T’Leia
OOC: Made it! Never good when the boss is coming into work early and overlapping with my ‘STF hour’ that I come into work early to do! Your translators are working .. it is a bit choppy, and if there are verbage not connecting it will show. There is the similarity to Vulcan speech as well that makes thing curious but workable as well. .. Gene
Rachel cocked her head slightly. The German Armory Chiefs advice made sense. She was going to wait until she’d see some more people before asking about any injuries there might be. right now she just followed her training, stayed in the smack middle of the group and cautiously eyed the Dal alien.

Naomi had been slightly distracted by the alien they encountered. The individual, Dan, appeared to be an evolutionary visual of the 21st century feathered reptilian, the Archaeopteryx, and a hognose snake. At least those were the memories that surged into her head when she got her first good glimpse of him. The scientist within her couldn’t help but smile at the image, noticing the differences and ignoring the buzz of excitement that encouraged her to make a fool of herself.
After their introductions were made, their ‘host’ turned to guide them deeper into the station. Her attention returned to the XO’s orders as she pulled her bag closer. She dug around in it, finally pulling out her palm size tricorder and flipped it on. It began to scan the interior f the catwalk collecting data over the gravity, atmosphere, and materials used to construct it.
Her peripheral vision caught Kenneth’s shoulders fall and appeared upset about the XO’s mistake, attributing to the nervousness they all felt in the situation. It was actually nice to see even command and Vulcans could make mistakes.
As they walked, her pace allowed her to fall back beside Kenneth. While holding her tricorder with her right hand, she let her left hand grip his fingers and briefly squeeze them in a comforting gesture. If he actually look at her, she gave him a little smile.
“I’m pretty sure our XO, like all of us, was a bit nervous. If it helps, we all know you can engineer circles around the Armory Officer any day,” she spoke softly in an attempt to make him feel better.
Realizing the Armory Officer could likely hear that, she paused and tacked on another comment. Mostly to keep him from shooting her later, “No insult intended, Sir.”

Baumman didn’t turn but said simply “None taken, Ensign. But keep alert, please. Proper titles can be addressed when we are not inside a alien craft.”
Baumann, AC
Alan looked at T’Leia. “Commander, would you prefer that you speak to Dal or that I do in case of communication difficulties? You are the authority figure and therefore more likely to be respected, but my linguistic skills may be useful.”
-Lt(j.g.) Alan Dysart, Linguist
OOC: Waiting to see GM’s response to my question before I answer this.
Kenny smiled slightly at Naomi. He wasn’t really unhappy or offended, not deeply, but he was a little upset at the feeling that he had been overlooked somewhat by the XO. Ah well. He continued forward with everyone else, interested in where they were headed but on guard for danger.

Max stayed alert from the rear of the group. Barely listening to the chatter from the other officers. He looked around and quickly pivot to behind him to see if they’re being followed.

Ari tapped the comm on her chair arm, [O] Baumann, T’Leia… either of you have anything yet?[O]Rachel looked at the Commander and Armory Chief awaiting their response to the Captains Query.
Dr. Grey - CMO
Baumann spoke softly and said [O] We have initiated contact with one being called Dal. We are following him further into the sphere. Security team has secured and is guarding the shuttle, and second team and myself is with the exploratory team, Captain. [O]
Baumann, AC
While she understood the importance of the mission, their behavior and attitude were the first thing seen. It would represent their species to the individuals they encountered. She personally felt being too stiff could result in a bad impression. However, Baumann was her superior and she didn’t need the paperwork that follows being a bit lippy toward a senior officer. Her eyes glanced at the floor while she waited for the scanner to finish its job.
When Kenneth smiled back at her, her spirits rose a bit. It was a bit infectious because her own began to return. While the Linguist and the Commander talked, she continued to walk beside Kenneth.

Out from the tube, the group entered into the ‘main’ sphere - or a level of it. immediately they began to feel an increase in the humidity of the air. It was still cool, and they could smell an ‘earthy’ tone to the air now mixed with a staleness that made it feel like potted plants inside one’s aged relative’s home. The ‘floor’ was a single unit, open space concept with enough standing barriers that would make security’s hackles rise. A central core ‘tube’ of black was the only thing that broke the open space. It was some five meters in diameter and had openings to it in even distances, about 45 degrees from one another. Low tables that were round or oval were dotted about the place, and the only ‘chairs’ were varying ‘bean bag like’ ones the color of grey stone. Some potted plants were there in clusters - they looked to be less decorative and more utilitarian with each sprouting some kind of grain or others that might be vegetable or fruit in nature. Large cages that looked like floor to ceiling bird cages that spanned at least 2 meters in diameter held small creatures.
Here and there through this were over 20 beings that were much like Dal. If some were female it was hard to tell, but one could tell the smaller young to the mature to the aged. The primary difference was the colored crest, that had different shades to it, with the young being an off shade of white to the aged which was a deep blue purple. Dal stood in the middle of all of this .. mess - it was not precisely the neatest organization but seriously ‘lived in’. “Welcome,” Dal said again. “My family.” The translator came out with a confused rendition of clan/tribe/family but settled on the latter. The close Vulcan equivalent would be tribe. “Come. Join. I will introduce.” All the others were pretty stock still in staring at these strange beings, with one ‘young’ evidently startled into diving under a table and peering out with wide eyes.
