Good Evening all;

After careful consideration and an extended effort to find a new Commanding Officer for the Sojourner, including additional time for recruitment and advertising, it is with sincere regret that the decision has been made to decommission her.

As Jack explained in his post here and in Command, this was not a choice made lightly. Despite our deep attachment to these ships and their histories, the club is facing a challenging period. Our membership has declined to around sixty active members, and maintaining so many vessels is no longer sustainable. To keep our community strong and our stories vibrant, we must reduce to approximately twelve or thirteen active ships — a level that allows us to properly support Command, Department Head, and GM roles.

I know this news is deeply disappointing. It is for me as well. The Sojourner (and before her, the Bonaventure) has been a remarkable ship — one I’ve personally invested years of time, energy, and passion into. But like all of you, I’ve had to accept where we are as a club and what is needed to ensure its continued health and longevity.

Thank you — truly — for the time, care, and creativity you’ve given to the Sojourner. I’ve greatly valued writing and roleplaying alongside you. I hope you’ll consider bringing your talents, enthusiasm, and storytelling spirit to another ship that could benefit from your experience and dedication.

If you would like assistance finding a new placement, I’m more than happy to help you transition to another crew. You’re also welcome to reach out directly to the Personnel Department for guidance or contact the Commanding Officers of any ships with open positions. Your skills and creativity are valued, and there are places within the fleet that would be fortunate to have you.
