Big snip

Ensign Serinde was indeed correct, it was not an accident. Looked at the data it appeared that there was a massive diversion of power to the plasma cannon. In a way it was lucky they had taken the hit from the asteroid field, otherwise they wouldn’t have spotted it. It would seem that someone had hoped to cause an overload in the canon the next time it was fired. At best it would have left them defenceless. At worst, the damage could have been catastrophic.....

Sasha noted almost at once that there was a sudden power surge in the system and gave a small yelp of surprise, the yelp accented in Russian of course. [o] El, power is spiking back to normal levels. One of those two regions is causing the issues. [c]
El was watching too even as she chewed a nail, and thought. [o] Sasha, I’m going to bring back power to the Launch Bay. Let me know if anything bad happens. Switching in three, two and now. [c]
[o] Minimal power loss. No more than what should be drawn for that area. [c]
[o] Okay, Sasha, give a yell that gravity is coming on. Give it a .1 g increase every 30 seconds as we don’t have comms to let the ship know. I’ll look at the armory mystery. [c]
Sasha looked around and planted his feet. Above and forward he could just make out Lt Green at the thruster controls. “Attention! Gravity coming on slowly in 10 seconds. Gravity coming back!” he called out. It was the loudest he had ever spoken on the ship and he felt the echoes coming. Counting out the 10 seconds in his head he then started bringing gravity back up on the ship.

Despite the warning there was a loud shout of .
“Oh fu.....” That was abruptly cut off with a sickening crunch followed by a scream.
“Man down over by the engines! Gill’s down, looks bad.” The voice was panicking.

Fiona Cleare, chief petty officer, who had not long before had gotten out of her suit and was part of the damage control group cleaning up from the fire, shifted over, muttering in her Irish fiery tongue, “Gill. Maco’s. You’d think they’d be better on their feet and not slip in the retardant.” .. She took a look at him and hit a wall panel. [o] Engineering to sick bay. We’ve had a fall. Man down. Injuries unknown. [c]

Two others, Maco’s as well slid down the ladder nearby and rushed in. Florian, a giant, and with him his sidekick (at least in Fiona’s mind) Benji, dwarfed beside him came. One, Benji, had a first aid kit with him .. “Don’t touch him yet,” he said ..

OOC: Since we’re over on our allotment of engineers down or active, I’ve imported a maco as a helper as other departments are rolling in to help too.

Fiona .. and MACO’s ..

Meanwhile El was striving to bring back power unit by unit to the Armory and marking the power trace. She came to the plasma cannon and suddenly the the power she had had was sucked out. Slapping the switch she killed the power to the unit before things went bad again with gravity. Then she locked out power to the cannons so that they couldn’t be used. She sat back in the seat and thought. That was both a software and hardware problem. Programming had to have been employed to hide it from their scans but the damage and repair attempts revealed an issue. But hardware had to be adjusted too to not flag the power. Using that much power would have destroyed the cannons and, if it had been sabotaged more, could have caused a feedback surge that, well, if she was going to want to do damage and make it look like an accident, route the power surge to the magazine.

Leaving the computer core she scrambled to engineering to report this ..

Paige pulled herself out of the hatch for the service tubes and let out a sigh of relief feeling gravity slowly coming back on.

“I’m not sure it is a good thing that I leave and things start working again.”

Taking a look around her eyes settled on Sasha. “What other good news do you have?”

Lt. Paige Garrison - CE

Stewart followed Garrison out of the shaft and looked around curiously himself.

OOC: I’ll forward this just a little in time to catch up with the other threads ..

The large figure of NL Reginald Green answered the question. “Chief, we have just these last minutes restored gravity. Ensign Gagarin is taking a crew out on an EVA to repair the port thruster. It looks like it was struck by an asteroid and requires physical repair. Warrant Jackson and two others - Walters and Sideris are with them. They should be almost ready for the EVA to start now.” He took a breath. “Serinde isolated the power leak which helped to get our gravity back, but she thinks there was intentionality in this. The additional power was directed to the armory.” He looked at Stewart then. “Any use of the plasma cannon would have, in her estimation, created a feedback that would at the least have destroyed the cannon and possibly crippled or destroyed the ship. I have given her 30 minutes to prove her theory as we will be needing her in the machine room to conduct the repairs.”

He looked back. “One injury. Helper feel from the mid level of engineering. Sickbay has been called. Two of your people, Commander, are helping.”
“And sickbay has answered,” came the sound of a woman’s voice. A lanky woman with an angular, sharp face and piercing gray eyes came in. She appeared to be pushing 40 and some grey mixed into her brown hair. She would be recognized as Lt Jg Glass. Her name, Misty, was rarely spoken and even more rarely the two put together. Looking at the two she said, “Where is my patient?”

Stewart stood by quietly while the Chief was being updated, sure that once the Chief had things straight that he would given a job to do.

bump to keep on the boards

OOC: You could go and check on your injured fella .. Gene

OOC: Who Stewart? I thought there were med guys over there?

OOC: Well .. okay ..

Two engineers lugged out a length of cabling even as straw haired engineer crewman approached where Stewart and the others were. He was carrying what looked like a tracer unit. “Chief, Lt, er, Commander,” he began. “The blowout took out communications and other cabling from the junction up to Charlie deck. The junction box C19-A is where we think we can best run the line to and splice it in.” He glanced back at the engineers setting up a lift then looked to the officers.

Stewart looked up to the area the crewman was talking about and then watched the crew setting up the lift.

Green said, “Dorian, get up to the junction and confirm that the cabling is good from there. We’ll need to fish cabling up through the deck conduits. We can do that from up there,” he said, gesturing to where the burnt out area is that was just getting attended to. “Up three decks. Commander, we could use your people, one with an engineer and one of yours on each of these three decks. CD and E to help fish this cabling through.” As it was there were two hale and whole Maco’s on the deck there.

“Aye, aye Ah could help with thrreading the cable and any splicing if any o’ that is needed. Ah can start helping out on C deck up therre? Is that what yerr saying lad? Just want to be ssurre Ah underrstood ye corrrectly.”
Stewart asked looking back at him to be sure he’d understood correctly.

~Lt. Commander Alexander Stewart CAO

Green nodded. “Yes, sir. We could use support on each deck. C, D and E deck where we are..” He was scrutinizing the lift as it was set up. “Fiona!” he called out to get the attention of the ginger engineer. “Ensure the mag clamps are active on that lift just in case we have any more gravity issues.”
Fiona paused in her walk, a flash of impatience crossing it before it erased. “Aye, Lt.” Turning to the two engineers with Dorian. Aeled, Fawkes. Full safety gear too. We can’t afford any more injuries as we fix the ship. Doctor, as Fawkes gets geared up can you look at his leg. You’ll take E deck work. Aeled, you’re feeding from D deck. Dorian, you go to C deck. Move it people!”
NL Green and Fiona

Meanwhile NL Glass came to where the fallen Maco was. “What happened?”
“When gravity started coming on he slipped on the fire retardant goo and went over. Gravity had not been fully restored so could have been worse.”
“Hmmm.” was her response as she ran a scanner over him. “Goldbricking. Mild concussion and wrenched a shoulder. You’re right. Would have been a good crunch if gravity was full on.” She gave him a hypo with an audible hiss. He groaned soon after. “When he comes around I’ll help him to sickbay for a fuller scan. Some physio on the shoulder and rest for the concussion and he will be fine.”
NL Misty and NL Green

Stewart nodded and made his way toward the lift, where he was outfitted in fall rest gear, to prevent injury in a fall. Once he was outfitted he followed a similarity outfitted Dorian onto the lift and up to C deck.
Upon alighting off the lift he watched Dorian doing his checks and waited for orders before assisting him in threading the cabling through where it was supposed to go.
