Frank Silva (Scientist, Botanist) in Side Sim- Infirmary - Following Bread Crumbles : : : : : : Snip : : : : : : : : : : : Rachel stood behind the pair chewing on her apple as they not-so-expertly avoided answering their question “Listen, kids.” Despite being considerably taller than the pair, towering over Locke by about a foot and the Botanist by almost fifteen centimeters she couldn’t be any more than a few years older than the pair “When Traveling aboard an Earthfleet Ship, doctors are bound by United Earth Laws like Doctor-Patient Confidentiality. These protections can only be broken if the Security of the Ship is at risk.” She smiled as she took another bite out of her apple “And it may just be the orange tinting in my sunglasses here but there ain’t no red in these here uniforms” She said between chewing loudly but elegantly enough that there no juices popped into their faces. She, however, seemed too amused by the situation too be inclined to do anything other than slightly torturing the two junior officers, although looks could be deceiving. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Dr. Grey CMO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Deciding to answer the Vulcan first, before the Chief Medical Officer, Naomi added a bit of truth to the tale, “As I said there was reports, which I was filing. I was hoping to make things much easier on myself without literally talking with every single individual involved in the science department to see who owned the report.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Naom pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to ease the headache budding and add merit to her white lie, “I’m the one filing the reports since I lost a bet.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : She inhaled then scratched her neck, “I don’t want to literally track down every single department officer in order to find out who filed the report. It’s easier to find the actual victim then ask about who was involved. I’m trying to ensure everything checks out before I enter it into the computer because if it doesn’t, I’m the one that’s going to hear about it.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Naomi then mumbled softly, “You can’t fault me for trying to make things easier.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : –ENS Naomi D. Locke, Sci : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : A few more seconds of chewing before Rachel Answered: “So someone filed an incident report that they’d been injured by exposure to hydrofluoric acid in the Science labs without signing their name?” She moved around them very slowly until she reached the main Bed and leaned on it “And now you think that this person poured some HF on themselves, wrote up a report but didn’t sign their name and went here for some slight treatment and went home and no one noticed?” Rachel took another bite and started chewing, shooting Stovik an amused look “A simple spill would have burned the clothes of their back and the fumes themselves would make your Lab inhospitable for some time. The act of traveling here would most likely require help” She stopped occasionally between words to chew. It’s a shame they met her, the Andorians trained her to spot liars, if it had been just Stovik he might not have pushed them she presumed, the information wasn’t really private. Maybe she should get her people together to teach them how to spot lies… or lie better. thoughts for another day “So I guess the fault is in that famous sciency lack of awareness” She swallowed and smiled at the pair in a truly friendly manner. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Dr. Grey - CMO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Stovik’s brow rose as the logical, if convoluted, line of thought of the CMO revealed the incongruity of the officer’s report. He looked back at Locke and Silva to see how they would explain it. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Healer Stovik : : : : : : : : : : : : Looking between Locke and Grey banter back and forth, finally the elder scientist interrupts. “Doctor, If I may, Dr. Locke isn’t being entirely truthful in this issue.” He gives a look to Naomi before he continues, “I am new to the ship and was given the task of inventory. I found that the acid bottle was lighter than it should be. While Locke is fibbing, she is fibbing on my behalf as, well, a new member of the crew I could get in a lot of trouble if I cannot explain the missing chemicals.” : : : : : : : : : : : : Frank Silva, Botanist. : : : : : : : : : : After another moment of apple chewing the wide grinning Doctor continued “So because you couldn’t find some missing chemicals you decided, instead of reporting a potential security breach, to go in here and lie to us to gain access to privileged information?” She asked with a certain grim tone of amusement “The truth shall, as they say, set you free” She took another large bite, almost finished with her apple. : : : : : : : : : : Dr. Grey CMO : : : : : : : : Since the CMO seemed to understand this situation better then he did, Stovik kept quiet and watched. He was becoming a bit lost. : : : : : : : : Healer Stovik : : : : : : “Yes, and just give the security officers more to gossip about…” Naomi muttered but tried to rein her temper. : : : : : : She was really disliking the superior attitude the department head was giving, reminding her of another superior who felt her complaint about the neglect of the lab animals was unnecessary. It was hard not to feel that same dark, worthless feeling wash over her. The JO brushed it off as she spoke,“I want to make sure there’s some evidence that security needs to be involved. People lie, but they also get lazy. Last time I went to a superior about my concerns, they were labeled as ‘unnecessary’. I don’t feel encouraged to repeat the experience again and risk a write-up.” : : : : : : Her word rang truthful about the desire, though not her primary motivator, and experience. It was the biggest reason she didn’t like Delila Holtz because the woman felt superior in every way toward Naomi. People like that often left a bitter taste in her mouth thanks to the past scars. At this point, she was about to call it quits and investigate it on their own. : : : : : : Distracted by the two females, she didn’t notice Merlin Stasky push past her when he walked inside. A hand was cradled close to his side while he approached a nurse. It was hastily bandaged, appearing to be self-done and terribly. Spotting the wound, the nurse gestured to look at it. He shook his head, declining. He appeared to be nervous and unease at being here. : : : : : : “Please, I’m just here for my medication. It’s just a slight wound that will heal,” He explained. : : : : : : –ENS Naomi D. Locke, Sci : : : : Rachel opened her mouth to answer when she saw the man walk past “Oh for the love of” She said in an exasperated manner “Stovik would tend to Mr. Exacerbater over there and treat his arm before it drops of” She turned back to the Scientist “There are fifty-five souls onboard this ship who’s well-being I’m responsible for” She placed the rest of the apple on a tray next to her then both hands on her hips “Lying to avoid a write up is a way to get into deeper trouble Ms. Locke” her smile faded but still half remained “Now if you’d just come in here and asked for help without any of the lies this would’ve been over with by now” She removed her sunglasses and placed them in the left ocket of her white coat “So I’ll just ignore the blatant disregard for Protocols and violations the pair of you have commited.” Her smile widened again “So long as you never lie to me again” She placed her large hands on the shoulders of both scientists “Because I will know” He face looked friendly but her tone of voice was more intimidating “So now, who would have had access to besides the two of you and Lieutenant Barr?” She asked finally stopping her game as she’d been entertained enough. : : : : Dr Grey CMO : : Stovik nodded and made his way over to where the other crewman had accosted the nurse.”As you are obviously not a physician you are not qualified to make that judgment, Creman. You have been injured while on duty and an examination is required by regulation. Please, allow me to access your injury.” The Vulcan Healer asked softly in a non confrontational tone of voice. : : Healer Stovik Silva returned his hands behind his back and waited for his superior to take control once more.
