Coming out of the same spot that the XO had disappeared in she blinked to get an idea of the situation. The Captain was held by the ankle. The Armory officer was clinging to the console for dear life. The pilot was focused like a statue. The engineering crewman was looking lost. Pushing off Maria-Teresa came up to him and slowed with a grab to the console. “Captain,” she said, twisting in her place. “Engineering has had an explosion at a power junction. Fire control is containing it. We have lost communication to Engineering with the cabling severed so I have brought a communicator up to talk to them. We are working on power distribution issues. Engineering 2IC is at the deflector control and are working out a fix. Power lines are fused going to the dish. We’re still struggling with power distribution and gravity. Two engineers are down.”

With that she opened the communicator [o] Bridge to Engineering. Chief, I am at the bridge and have briefed the Captain. [c]
- Maria-Teresa Morales, C Eng

Petrenkov XO/CSO

[O] Any luck figuring out what they are trying to do? And any chance that they can stop?[C]

Lt. Paige Garrison - CE

Stewart gave up trying to get the deflector dish working, no sense with it fused at the moment. Instead he hung on as he watched his boards as best he could. Being upside down made this difficult.

~Lt. Commander Alexander Stewart CAO

The rocks were thinning out which gave Helena more time to aim and maneuver, but she wasn’t so arrogant to speak up and say they were clear. She kept her focus on the sensors and the screen, continuing the Sojourner’s hobbled limp out of the field.

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

Just before Natalia arrived, Maria-Teresa managed to glean from the engineer on deck what had transpired without interrupting any of the activity on the bridge otherwise. She relayed this down to engineering .. though figured the XO would have a similar report when she got there. [o] Chief, we had picked up a weak transmission and moved into an asteroid field to get closer and investigate. The asteroids were many and the ship was doing evasives to avoid them until the explosion that took out the power junction and deflector. They’ve been doing what they can to maneuver out from there utilizing nominal thruster power available. By the look of it we’re almost clear from the asteroids. [c]
-MT Morales, C Eng

[o]Understood. Do what you can to help them get out of the field as quickly as possible, and to deter them from doing that again.[c]

Lt. Paige Garrison - CE

Marie-Teresa looked around the bridge. With the way that things were it looked like artificial gravity was the priority before everyone floated about like motes in the air. [o] We will do what we can Chief [c] she said before closing the communicator. Crewman Darlene Kohl was there with her on the bridge. Two relatively inexperienced crewmen at least on the scale of rank and time compared with say Lt Green or Warrant Jackson. MT rubbed at her brow and forehead that had taken a bit of knock in her travels. “Is there any way we can isolate some power to just the bridge and get even a fraction of the gravity back?” she asked.

Darlene, a dark haired slim woman whose legs were tucked around the seat she was in to keep her steady. “Diverting power to AG would not be hard on that scale. Power is coming in here. We just have to send it to the AG emitters.” She looked about. “But what power?”

“If we take say the primary lighting and move to emergency lighting and knock out the three auxiliary station power.” She looked around her. “And the ready room and cut power to the situation room aft side. That still leaves tactical, our station, comms and helm and the viewer.” MT hung on. “Run that through a power comparison. How much would that give us for AG if we transferred that power over? Even a tenth would keep us on the deck. It would be like moon training.”

One by one Darlene isolated the power and put it in the ‘bank’ as she was thinking of it then compared that to what was needed for AG on the bridge alone. “Running the numbers. Let’s see what we get,” she said, both women peering hopefully down at the screen.
- Darlene and MT, Eng

Disabling those system and rerouting what power it freed up would give them enough juice to power the anti-grav at about half capacity on the bridge.

The ship finally cleared the asteroid field and was met with empty space ahead of them. Nothing was on sensors for several light years ahead of them.

~Creeping Dread

“Captain, we’ve cleared the astroid field,” Laursen reported. “We’re in a slight free spin though without thrusters. Using the one we have will only keep us spinning.”

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

Darlene and MT looked at each other after the declaration that they were clear. Both seemed to shrug at the same time. Finally Darlene sighed and called out. “I can get us half gravity on the bridge,” she called out without saying how. That could come later. “Engaging one tenth G in 10 seconds. Another tenth every 30 seconds after that.” She hit the button for the countdowns. At the 10 second mark she felt the gentle addition of the gravity and whatever was floating to slowly descend. The two engineers looked at each other and blew out a simultaneous breath. “One down. How many to go now?” MT said quietly.
- Darlene and MT, Eng

Stewart felt himself beginning to lower as the gravity was adjusted and inwardly he sighed with relief. Once he was on decking again he checked his boards.

OOC: Tactical console is not affected. Basically killed every one that didn’t have a person at it .. Gene

The communicator brought up by the Engineer earlier chirped. The voice of the Ships medical officer came through the speakers, she sounded almost cheerful [O]Grey to Bridge, I’ve got injured trickling in but no status updates from the rest of the ship. I’m sending my other doctor, I have another doctor since five minutes ago. I’m going manual to look for patients. Triage is setup in Sickbay, do you need medics on the bridge[O] She spoke fast but still understandable.

Dr Grey- CMO

As gravity began to turn, Marceau made his way careful back to his seat, having been floating near the floor after Aiden’s rescue attempt. “Engineering, damage reports and get those engines running, medical, take care of those injured. Tactical, be at the ready. Science,” he looked at Natalia, “Keep an eye on the sensors and watch for any other trouble.”

~ Capt Renault

“Aye sirr!” Stewart said as he scanned the immediate area surrounding the ship.

Helena had been using her legs, wrapped around the leg and console support to keep her at her chair to navigate the ship. She’d relaxed some once they were clear, but was still anchoring herself to her station, just incase. When the gravity returned she sat back in her seat and unwound her legs from the supports and let her grip relax on the controls. Her muscles spasmed painfully, twinging and twitching in what she knew would be a horrible attack. Not now. She forced herself to turn her head to look at Renault to give him a reassuring outrageous grin. As if that was fun. It had been nerve wracking and frightening, and too familiar. That was when she saw the small drops of blood floating around her head, and the smear of blood on the head rest of her seat. Crap.

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

Marceau was hurt too. There was no blood, but he was hiding pain. It was more obvious when he moved. He glanced around the bridge and added, through the Comms, “Medics are requested, doctor Grey.”

~ Capt Renault

[O]Blackwell to Bridge, Doctor Grey is on her way, Sickbay out[C]

“Captain,” Darlene said, craving coffee and was convinced there should be a coffee station on the bridge, and in any room on the ship for that matter, “Engines are online. A team is working to fix the deflector so we can see where we are going. Thrusters are ..” She looked at Marie-Teresa who gave a small shrug. “.. are on the list as is gravity control. It is still out everywhere but here. We’ve rerouted power to get .. .48 gravity on the bridge. The explosion in engineering is contained. Damage there is uncertain. Comms is cut from here to engineering which is why we have the communicator here.”
- Darlene Kohl, Eng Crewperson

The turbolift doors opened and the fuzzy curled mane of one Rachel Grey hopped in, it seemed as though her hair did not do well with no Gravity, although it was held back with what appeared to be straps meant to tie down a patient, the back end, which had originally been a bun, was now a loose frazzled mess “Who needs me first” She immediately looked to her two troublemakers, the Frenchman and the Icelandic helmsman.

Dr Grey- CMO

“Helena,” said the offending Frenchman, “I saw blood. Then check the rest of the bridge crew, s’il vous plaît,” he added. He nodded to the engineer Darlene, “Je comprends, merci. Please, keep working and say if anything changes.”

~ Capt Renault

Helena lifted one hand in the air. “Hit the back of my head on my chair when the asteroid hit the ship. I didn’t pass-out, lose vision, or vomit.” She was too afraid of Grey to protest. She could hear the pain in Marceau’s tone. It had to be a lot for her to hear it.

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

“Then the Captain,” Aiden put in. “He hit the ceiling fairly hard. Most of the rest of us are just bruised, more or less.”

Helena glanced over at Conlon, glad that he had spoken up. Helena knew Renault was in pain, but arguing over him first wasn’t the proper code of conduct.

Rachel made her way to the Helm station and took a knee behind her. She put the Medical kit down and removed a medical scanner from one of her jumpsuit pockets, she’d left her white coat back in Sickbay “I don’t want to use any traditional pain relief until you’re no longer needed on the bridge but I can numb your leg if it’s too much” Rachel said in a hushed tone for Laursens ears only, it wasn’t her usual airy way of speaking but a much calmer almost cold tone, now was business, she could have playtime after she made sure the others didn’t die, or at least did so with dignity.

Normally, she’d simply drag the pilot from her seat kicking and screaming,g but she was also well aware of the situation and they did not need a drugged-up pilot making bad decisions.

Helena turned her head to look at Grey. She hadn’t said a thing about her legs or arms or anything. Had she already taken a scan and it showed up. Helena nodded slightly in agreement to the numbing, “Thank you, Dr. Grey. My head is starting to throb some, but my vision isn’t blury. I guess something else was finally harder than my hard head,” Helena joked.

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

Stewart kept his head down, ignoring his own bumps and bruises and not wishing to catch the doctor’s eye. He was definitely not hurt enough to require the attentions of the doctor.

~Lt. Commander Alexander Stewart CAO

Rachel grinned at the pilot as she prepared a numbing agent for the ailing leg, she was mostly being smug as the leg jab had been a guess. She injected the leg then did some rough dermal work where she’d struck her head “I want your replacement here as soon as possible, I’m not seeing any signs of a major concussion but this little thing isn’t the most precise neurological scanner” she said again in a low voice just for the pilot “Any nausea and you leave immediately” It wasn’t a polite request, although Rachel wasn’t known for her politeness.

Helena had no problem with that. She could be stubborn and prideful at times, but she wasn’t so full of herself that she would put the crew in danger by flying when she shouldn’t. “Understood. Thank you, Dr. Grey.” Yes her head was still pounding, but that should subside after another moment. She turned back to the screen and her controls.
Rachel stood up and visually scanned the bridge then moved to the Captain and knelt next to the Captains chair and moved the scanner over “vous êtes blessé?” She asked quietly, although her French was more accented than her English it was surprisingly good pronunciation-wise.

Dr Grey- CMO

She’d heard Kohl say the engines were online, but not the thrusters. The deflector dish was still out as well. “Engaging impulse engines to correct our drift and coming to all stop, Captain.” It would be smoother to do it with the thrusters, but beggars couldn’t be choosers, as the saying went. Helena engaged the impulse engines at 1/32 power, set a trajectory directly parallel to the asteroid field. Once they were moving in a straight line she engaged the all stop so they would stop drifting.

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

A call came from deflector control. [c] Bridge. Engineering. Green here. We’ve rigged something to give you either long range scans or local navigation. Not both. It is a manual switch that is manned here by crewman Clark. Aeled can switch it one to another but you will have a 30 second delay at least. The power cabling is jury rigged and when we switch one off we need to verify power is stable before changing it to the other. Right now you have local navigation scanning as of .. now. [c]
NL Green

“Do a local scan,” Marceau said. Close as she was, the good doctor could see the way he took a breath to speak, the pain must be in his ribs. He seemed surprised and impressed to hear her French, her accent didn’t bother him. He’d always been proud of his heritage, and ever since English had become, without a doubt, the Lingua Franca of what would become the Federation, regions with other languages would have to ensure pride in their heritage to keep their language and culture alive.

“J’suis bien,” he said softly, “well enough, anyway.” But her scan showed a broken rib, a bruised tailbone, and deep bruising along his body where he’d collided with the ship’s ceiling. Zero gravity was always dangerous.

~ Capt Renault

Rachel tsked at the results “You’ll need to strap in and do your utmost to stay still” She rummaged in her pack “You’ll have to come later for Osteogenic stimulation, for now I’m gonna give you something for the inflammation and pain, only enough to keep you from dropping unconcious from the pain mind you so no sommersaults” She used the hypospray in quick succession, beggining with an anti-inflamatory fofllowed by a subdermal adhesive to keep the broken rib from doing something unsavory, then finally she injected him with some mild pain relievers.

Marceau uttered a string of French curses and that was how they knew it hurt. He groaned softly as he tried to reach for his seats straps. The pain meds made sitting perfectly still bearable. They had to be weak, so he could stay in command. “Attachez-moi, doctor. Buckle me. S’il vous plaît.” Helena would recognize that tone, from the shuttle.

“Mind you, just ten or so years ago, you’d be stuck healing for a minimum of six weeks” She flashed her trademark Cheshire grin. She stood up and quickly turned to look around. It was clear she favoured her left leg but she still had such spring in her step it wasn’t easy to notice.

“Then it is lucky it isn’t ten years ago, no? Check yourself too, Grey. We won’t get anywhere without a doctor.”

She moved to the armory chief next.

Waving her scanner into the face of her fellow Scot “Ye aye alive auldjin?” She said cheerfully and began scanning.
