It was going to be two months until they reached their destination and until they could begin the investigation into the missing ships. Natalia had only been on board for a day but she was keen to get going. The thing was, space was big and it took forever to get anywhere. She sighed to herself in the the CSO’s Office. She drummed her hands on her desk, stood and headed to the CO’s ready room. She whistled as she went and hummed. She loved music, especially the blues. It had just grabbed her the moment she first heard BB and Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn. She was hooked.I’ve been downhearted baby.
Ever since the day we met........She knew the song so well she could hear every note in her head, she was almost lost to the music as she went.
Our love is nothing but the blues.
Baby, how blue can you get? That song touch her to the core and almost brought a tear as she thought about him. As she got closer to the Captain’s ready room she pushed thoughts of her ex-husband out her mind. She straightened out her uniform and pressed the chime waiting to be called in.
Commander Natalia Petrenkov, XO/CSO
The “ready room” was a small and cramped office at the back of the bridge. Inside, it had a small french flag on a small desk, a bookshelf full of French medical texts, and a painting of a French city on the wall.
In the chair behind the desk was a thin, friendly, and notably stressed looking man with curly, floofy, bright red hair. When he let the door open and beckoned Natalia inside, he stood and smiled, speaking with a heavy French accent. “Natalia Petrenkov, yes? I am Capitain Renault.”
~ Capt Renault
Natalia entered the ready room, the Captain’s heritage was quite plain. She noted the flag and the painting. She was shorter than the Captain and was thin but muscular. Her dark brown hair was tied up in a bun and her green eyes seemed to light up her face. Come on Natalia, make a good first impression, don’t mess this up. She thought as she stood in front of Captain Renault.
“Bonjour Capitaine, comment allez-vous?” She asked in hesitant French wanting to make a good first impression on the Captain. She had worked hard to do away with her Russian accent when speaking English but that wasn’t the case for her French.Commander Petrenkov, XO/CSO
Marceau smiled, “Bien, bien.” Her French was accented, but more than understandable. After all, he’d helped Helena with her language courses and Helena was no linguist. “Est-il plus facile pour vous de parler français ou anglais?”
