Heather chuckled. “Was she in the bed when you moved it?”

Cmdr. Grace - XO / CSO

After Heather entered the room, Naomi smiled. “Sadly no. Else the bellend’s screams would’ve gotten us caught. Last thing I wanted was to waste more hours writing maths.”

She moved toward the drink table and nicked a cup. Placing a tea bag into the center, she poured the hot water pot and filled it up to the top. Next she dipped some honey cubes into the hot liquid to make it extra sweet followed by some milk. Turning to her superior, Naomi then asked. “Do you want a cup o’ tea?”

Heather laughed, “I’ll have to admit my ignorance when it comes to tea. The only time someone drank tea in my family growing up, it was iced, black, and sweet. I know there is a lot more out there then that, but when I finally left home, it was straight to the Academy. So it was drinking whatever would keep me awake to finish the next project.”

Cmdr. Grace - XO / CSO

“Iced?” Naomi’s eyes widened then she cringed and shook her head. “No, no no. There is a proper way to do tea. Let me show you.”

She gestured for her superior to follow her to the table set up. Her hands moved with purpose as she set cups, milk, sugar, and some loose leaf onto it.

Her hand slide a tray in front of her as she placed several items on it. Two cups, milk, sugar, and loose leaf tea bags settled into a neat arrangement. A smirk brushed her lips when she spotted some bourbon biscuits and oatcakes, adding them too. Finally, she poured the hot water in and let the tea bags seep.

“Do you like your tea sweet or strong?” Her attention turned to Grace.

Heather chuckled at Naomi’s expression at her tea revelation. “Well if you are going to show me the right way of drinking tea, what do you recommend? I grew up on a strong and sweet tea, but I’m willing to be open minded here.”

Cmdr. Grace - XO / CSO

“I suggest some sugar and milk then,” Naomi stated. With the tray still in hand, she pulled away from the setup and scanned the room. A table with two chairs tucked itself into a corner. Perfect, the woman thought. Gesturing with a nod, she led the way. Once they arrived, she laid it in the center before she took one of the chairs. She pointed to some shortbread cookies with dark chocolate on top.

“Those are the best to dip while it’s still hot. I tend to do that so I don’t look too greedy with the sugar.” Naomi took one to demonstrate as she dunked it twice into the hot tea, enjoying the softened treat.

Following suit Heather dipped the cookie into her own tea cup, letting it soak for a second before taking a bite. Her eyebrows raised as she savored the bite of the cookie, it was good. How had she not known about this all this time? Not to mention it was a great excuse to take a cookie break during the day. She dunked the cookie back into the tea before taking another bite.

“Was drinking tea something that your family did growing up?”

Cmdr. Grace - XO / CSO

“Oh yes. You’re not British if you don’t know your tea.” Naomi smiled, showing the pride she had in her country.

She took her own cookie then dipped it into the tea and bit into it. She savored the taste and how it brought back memories. Often, she’d help her mother in the kitchen. They have a kettle boiling water before sifting loose tea leaves into it. In that moment, the struggles of her childhood disappeared for a moment. They never lasted long enough, even now.

“Mum taught me the best way to enjoy a cup. When I was young, she bring out a whole plate and we finish it off in one go. Left me pretty chuff afterwards.” Naomi smirked at the memory before her smile fell. “Sadly as I got older, my father worried about my weight and the indulgence. Our afternoon tea times became less and less.”

She cleared her throat politely. “Use to purchase a tin and some tea when I came to visit. It wasn’t often, but Mum always appreciated it.”

OOC: Well the question is, do you want to keep this thread going, even though I’ve switched characters on us now?
Steve

OOC: I mean, I am good either way not going to lie. Though I will admit, I missed the switch due to moving. :P
