Heather grumbled as she made her way back to the bridge. She had just been about to head down to Earth when the message came through from command, all crew leaves were cancelled and crew were to return to the ship immediately.Stepping off the lift she forced her face to a neutral state, which was good as she caught a couple of young officers also grumbling about the cancelled leave.
“Alright people, looks like Starfleet has a hot one for us. Where are we at in getting all of the crew recalled? What is the status of the ship? And has anyone talked to the Captain yet?”
Cmdr. Grace - XO / CSO
OOC: So I am a bit confused and have gotten lost…are we starting an entirely new sim? So that one where we were investigating the murders is no longer running?
~Lt. Commander Alexander Stewart CAO
OOC: We never had any murders (unless I really missed something. Which is totally possible.). We had found an old NASA craft way out nowhere. But yeah that ended, and Matt is starting a new sim.
Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer
OOC: With Matt stepping in to replace Rob, we decided to start a new sim. So hurry up and get back to the ship!

Aiden had barely even left his station when the notice went out, and so he was already on the bridge, taking messages and watching everyone filter in. He was in shockingly good spirits for having had leave cancelled, and bounced to his feet at Commander Grace’s arrival. “Good morning, ma’am!” He looked back down to his console, then continued. “Fifty-three percent of the crew has acknowledged the notice, and Petty Officer Walters from engineering has notified us that he’s coming, but will be late due to shuttle mechanical issues. No word from the Captain as of yet.”
Ensign Aiden Conlon
Linguist/Comms OfficerChief Petty Officer Fiona Cleary, the engineering staff currently on the bridge at least until its departure, her ginger hair surrounding a round freckly face shook her head. “Imagine that, our top shuttle mechanic engineer, having mechanical issues. The irony. He’ll be wearin that in the mess later.” Her Irish lilt was strong. The last time he’d come up sporting a black eye from scrapping with his elder brother. Was this another such delay? “I have two shuttles queued up to dock and disembark. Bay 1 is departing now. Shuttle Sparrowhawk can be cleared to dock in two minutes.”
- CPO Fiona Cleare
OOC: Just adjusted the PO name to fit my list :)“Let’s keep those shuttles flowing. And redirect any as needed to the spacedock landing pad.”
“Aye Commander,” Fiona replied. “Requestin a reserve spacedock hatch for an extra slot.”
Settling into the center chair Heather was wondering where the Captain was at, and hoping he would get back soon. It was unexpected for them to suddenly called back from leave, but not hearing anything was a bit strange.
As she was wondering there was a little chirp from the communicator in her pocket. Wondering why someone would be reaching out to her directly, and not calling the ship, she dug it out of her pocket.
=^=Commander Grace here.=^=
=^=Commander, this is Lieutenant Earl, attache to Admiral Cane. I’m sorry for reaching out to you directly, but it is an emergency.=^=
=^=Go ahead Lieutenant. What is it?=^= Heather responded even more confused.
=^=There was an accident at the research lab, it’s your father. He was seriously injured and is currently enroute to the Starfleet Medical Center in critical condition. The Admiral has already granted you emergency leave, and has a shuttle enroute to take you directly there. A temporary replacement has also been assigned to cover your duties.
=^=Ma’am, you should get here as soon as possible.=^=
Thank goodness Heather was already sitting as she was knocked by the news.
=^=Commander?=^=
Turning her head she looked down at the communicator still in her hand.
=^=Um, yes I’m still here Lieutenant.=^=
She cleared her throat before sitting up again in her chair. She looked around the bridge at the crew that was there.
Everything had seemed to have stopped in this conversation where nobody was listening but everyone was listening. Fiona felt bad for the commander. One of her good friends had died in a workplace accident. She, a lawyer previously, saw the system fail her friend - and herself! That had seen the fiery Irish woman walk away from law and to Starfleet. She hoped for the commander that it was just that and nothing that would be worse than a recovery.
=^=Thank you for letting me know. I’ll be ready once the shuttle arrives.=^=
=^=Understood Ma’am. Please contact me if there is anything else the Admiral can assist with in the meantime.=^=
With a small chirp the comm ended, leaving her sitting there still stunned, it was her dad. There were still so many questions, but they would have to wait till she got back down to Earth. Standing up, she tucked the communicator back in her pocket.
“Chief,” she said looking over at Cleare, “find out which shuttlepod that is coming and give them priority clearance to land. I’ll meet them in bay shortly.
“Of course, Commander,” she said, turning to the console. It was not hard to find for the only one in space that was flagged as Fleet Priority stood out from the rest in a bright yellow. [o] Commander, Shuttle Ganges is en route with an ETA of 22 minutes. I have reserved shuttle pod hatch 1 for it. [c] The others can queue up. The Captain was not yet aboard and nobody was moving before the crew was there.
“Ensign,” she said looking over at Aiden. “Keep trying to get a hold of the Captain. Let him know what’s going on, and please pass along my apologies for the sudden departure. In the meantime, you have the conn.”
Without waiting any longer she headed straight for the lift. There should be just enough time to grab a few things from her quarters before the shuttlepod would arrive.
Cmdr. Grace - XO / CSO
“Aye, ma’am. Best of luck,” Aiden agreed, not moving to take the now vacant seat. Rather, he stayed put at Comms, watching messages filter in and waiting for some word from the missing senior staff and CO.
