As the shuttle came to rest and he and the team disembarked onto the Sojourner once the formality of requesting permission to come aboard had been dealt with. The team then lined up, “I’ll check in with our new CO later today. For now, ” he said looking around at what they had to deal with.“Thompson, Collins take the crate to our quarters on D deck, should be just past the armory. In fact Stop at the armory and inform them of the gear we are bringing on board.” he turned his attention “Hayes, you head to the bunks as well get squared a way and inventory your medical supplies ” he turned to look at the deck. “Well this is home for the next tour so get to know every inch of her.” he paused “Training at 16:00 lets get it done” he finished.
“Aye, Aye Staff Sergeant” they responded then went to work.
Travis made his way through the decks of the ship admiring the ship, It’s amazing how far his people had come in such a short time. The ship was well built and would serve as a good home. Certainly was better than the Jungle he and the team had been in the past year.
Finding his way to B deck he entered sick bay and looked around for someone to help him with his physical. He really wished he had found the time to shave before he had come on board.

M.A.C.OJust as the Staff Sergeant entered Sickbay a rolling chair flew across the room at great speed, sitting in it was what looked like a fluttering white robe and mess of red curls. The chair stopped in front of a cabinet and the seated officer flung open a door and grabbed a vial, slammed it closed, then turned around and placed a leg on the cabinet before turning her head and looking at the newcomer “Ah welcome” She put the foot down and spun the chair around to face the MACO and smiled widely. She stood up and walked towards him in just a few long strides.
Standing close her height became apparent, taller than one might expect and also with wider shoulders than many in her profession “Staff Sergeant” She said eyeing his Chevrons curiously “Youngish but not overly” She leaned in to examine the uniform “New design is better, although always had a soft spot for the Martian pattern” She leaned up and examined his face, she gave the impression like a crow examining something shiny “They give dispensation for Shipboard Maco’s to have beards?” She asked with genuine curiosity then blinked in surprise as if realising that she was being rude. She leaned back and laughed or more precisely cackled “Apologies Staff, Been a while since I’ve seen sharkies” she grinned “Leftenenant Rachel Grey, CMO, I can I be of assistance”
Dr. Grey - CMO
Travis remained calm as the strange woman examined his appearence. Given her hight it was likely the chief medical officer. Still her extra hight was apparent as she was looking down at him. Travis’s dense muscles tensed , his neck muscles drawing tight momentarily as she drew in even closer, he had not expected a doctor to inspect is outer appearce in such detail. She certianly was an odd one, he had heard the fleet was a little more relaxed when it came to formalities. He would not be however, “Staff Sergeant Travis Surtherland, reporting as ordered!” he said with a slight click of his heals as he snapped to attention.
The Doctor blinked at the very formal way of going to attention, she might have expected this from some private but a Staffy going so far was certainly amusing.
“Appologies for the beard sir , I have been in a jungle for months and had chance to shave.” he noted is eyes locked forward waiting for her next order. His deep blue eyes briefly caught hers but only for a moment. There was a sence of joy and curiosity in them he thought before correcting the breif shift in his eye position.

M.A.C.ORachel snorted at his answer and took a step back “You don’t need to apologise to me, I’ve always considered the regulations to be too stiff when It comes to affectations like beards” She waved her hand dismissively “Well go on take a seat and try not to sprain something” She said with no small deal of humour in her voice “Where you assigned directly then? No dirtside checkups?” Her voice turned more serious although the ghost of her smile remained.
Dr. Grey - CMO
Travis smirked, “No Lieutenant, PFC hays our combat medic gave us all a once over, but fleet wanted us here as soon as possible.” he said paused a moment and looked around sickbay. “Impressive ship” he noted as his eyes traced the room. “You know we have been off planet now for almost a day and I swear I still feel rain hitting my skin.” he paused giving his forearm a swipe. “It’s like the jungle imprints itself on you.” he said shaking his head.

M.A.C.ORachel nodded “I was assigned to cross-training with MACOs before I took my commission, We spent most of our time training in environment suits training low gravity manoeuvres in a desert setting and an urban one. Sometimes I still think there’s sand everywhere” She said in a commiserating tone. Rachel reached into her coat pocket grabbed a small hand scanner and started waving it around the MACO.
Dr. Grey - CMO
“I’ll take the jungle over the desert anyway” he said with a laugh. “The sand is relentless” he said remembering the hours it took to clean all the gear afterwards. He looked Grey over briefly. “You would have to check with the CO, but you should train with us from time to time. ” he noted looking around the room again.
“What did you think cross training with us? A bit different than fleet?” he asked. This was his first tour on a star ship most the time he was just hopping rides to get from A to B.
Staff Sergeant Travis Sutherland
M.A.C.ORachel nodded appreciatively at the offer to train with the MACO’s, “Quite a lot different, my fleet training was mostly about how to operate different systems aboard a Starship, practical knowledge of a different kind. When I trained with the MACO’s I hadn’t gone through any Starfleet training yet, it made my physicals a little easier though”
Dr Grey- CMO
Travis snorted unintentionally. “If you were able to keep up, I imagine the Starfleet physical was cake” he stated in agreement. His eyes worked her over briefly assessing her current physical condition “You look like you maintain yourself, should not have to much problem keeping up.” he said with an odd approval in his tone.
His face flexed into a smile. “So Doc, ” his tone becoming a little more familiar. “Do I pass the bill” he asked.
