The intrepid pilot entered the medical bay, watched closely by the captain. Helena made her way over to an empty exam bed and hopped up. She was favoring her left side, perhaps limping slightly, but didn’t seem to be suffering from any fatigue or muscle spasms. “Dr. Grey, I’m back.”

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

Marceau was right behind her, but stayed near the doorway, out of the way. “She was doing stretches. Said it hurt. I thought it was best looked at.”

Rachel was sitting in front of a small computer on the other end of the small sickbay when the two entered. She spun around in her swivel chair and smiled her wide Chesire grin and stood up “I have just the thing” She ran across the room and grabbed something from the counter “I had this made by a friend in Starfleet Engineering back on Earth” She walked back holding a small rectangle, no larger than a standard hand scanner. She placed it down on a counter and turned it to face the pair, it looked similar to an alarm clock, two screens with simple numbers. Under each screen was a flag, one French and the other the Icelandic flag, both of course blue, white, and red. On the top there were two buttons and she pressed each once and each screen showed the number one in blocky white numbers.

Helena looked at the little display and laughed, “So what exactly are you keeping score of doctor?”

Once she’d proudly displayed her latest toy the Sojurner’s Medical officer pulled out the scanner from her pocket and pointed it at the pilot “I’m also thinking of requisitioning some proper lollies”

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Ohhh…a lollie? I might come in here even when I don’t need to.” The scan showed no signs of muscle fatigue or strain, but there was inflammation and enough activity to suggest deep tissue bruising close to the right femur at the hip joint.

Marceau smiled just a little. “If that’s all it takes I should’ve started keeping those in the med bay years ago.”

Rachel chuckled as she went to the nearest medicine cabinet and rifled through it “My old uh” She said her voice echoing from inside the cabinet “Pediatrician always had lollies when I was a baern, don’t ken if it really helped the other children like coming to a doctor but I think it worked fer me” She closed the cabinet, holding a small vial and returned to Laursen and the Captain. She placed the vial in a hypo and adjusted the output then placed the hypo on the Pilot’s neck and injected “Some anti-inflammatory medicine” She explained “What exactly was the exercise in question, you’ve got a bruise forming up here” She pointed to the upper right thigh.

Helena looked puzzled over the diagnosis. “A figure four stretch for the glutes and outer thighs. I haven’t fallen or hit anything.” She tried to imagine what she’d done. It was the first stretch she’d done when they arrived to the gym. She hadn’t done more than that. Her hand moved down over the spot Grey indicated. Realization dawned on her face. “That’s where the join in the helm chair is. Between the seat and the arm. When we got hit by one of the cargo ships yesterday, I was sort of slammed into it when the ship pitched. It didn’t hurt yesterday, and I didn’t think I’d hit it that hard.”

Rachel raised an eyebrow “They should really consider cushioning those seats” She said mostly to herself as she walked to the main bed console and activated the more detailed scanner to make sure there wasn’t any further damage “Just to make sure you didn’t break anything important.”
