Hi Rob et al and maybe James since he built this thing :)

Weapons specs say:

2 plasma cannons mounted forward, 1 to port, 1 to starboard each with a 180 degree coverage and 90 degree angling capability.
1 plasma cannon mounted aft on the rearmost end of the hull with a full 180 degree coverage and angling capability.

During the refit these plasma cannons were upgraded to the latest phase cannons, positioned in the same layout and number.

The plasma cannons have a maximum effective range of 10 kilometers and a maximum output of .5 megawatts. During the refit this output and range was upgraded to .6 megawatts and 35,000km.

Rob .. I know you mentioned in your note that the phase cannons are not implemented yet with the current year of 2150. The specs suggest the refit occurred .. tense there is odd, suggesting the refit was done, but maybe not yet. Perhaps an addition to the specs suggesting the upgrade was performed during a refit in 215X so folks reading are on the same page?

Enterprise launched April 2151 and had its phase cannon refit in Sept 2151. So the Sojo would be after that .. so yes, have a couple of years before that happens but may be good to add the date in there for perspective. The above is confusing giving old and new stats and suggesting the refit is done but isn’t.

Ok so to clear this up the ‘refit’ for the Sojo is in reference to the Xindi crisis which is later then 2151 I put in both references for the tech the ship has so it can be used either pre-xindi crisis or post xindi crisis So all the tech ranges etc are accurate we’re using pre-refit

Morning Rob. Totally get that and quite understand. Was just wondering if a little date help would be helpful such as adding .. ‘for those who are playing prior to Jan 2052 you are using pre-refit specs’ or something like that .. anyway, that’s my Monday morning pre-coffee thinking :)

Well for sim planning purposes last I was aware we’re currently still in 2150? I know STF uses 1:! year advance but like with the Merrimack and other alt-era ships this would quickly get us out of the range of things. I assumed (wrongly i guess?) like on the bonnie we were keeping the exact date vague unless sim plot needed a call out (say if we ever decided to have me run a rommie/earth war sim series)

I think Gene’s point is that the spec doesn’t indicate which year is pre and post refit. We know what year we are RPing in, but having that date listed in the spec would help us know what to look at and what we have to work with.

We do advance year with STF and therefore are in 2151 as we discussed previously, Rob. For the spec thing Gene, we are following the spec before the refit which is the Xindi crisis refit. Personally, I agree that adding a date of refit effect would be useful in clarifying the spec both for now and in the future.

Out just by one year there River .. we’re 2150 now. We were 2149 last year.

Just thinking too for any future ships that may want to play in this timeline to have that distinction.

These four ships would encompass a mixed suite of lighter armaments, moderate hull polarization systems, robust sensor systems and a strong power plant for its time. As well as the ability to be outfitted with internal or external equipment or rooms for further testing. During the Xindi crisis of 2154they were hastily upgraded to more modern equipment packages across the board from experiences with the NW and NX program developments and missions.

As for the usual 1:1 i still disagree on this, as it’d mean very few icly played sims happening year to year. Why not leave it flexible and advance when sims require it? Seems the lesser headache for all especially me as GM. But either way we’re 2150 for now

I think that’s a great stopping point. If there are any more questions regarding what year the Sojourner is in, I ask that you please direct it to either myself or River.
