Heather raised an eyebrow at that comment, “I think I’m going to have to talk to some of those junior officers.”

Stepping to the side as Naomi moved past and into the lab, Heather turned and followed her. “I came on about 2 days ago, after finally making it back to Earth. I was on a survey mission out at Neptune when the orders came in to report to the Sojourner.

“So, looking for something in particular?”

Naomi didn’t say anything. She held her comments as she pulled up a list, finding much to her relief that the hazardous materials were already secure.

“I got positive news, the hazardous materials are secure. Most of what’s here is equipment that needs sorting. Do you see the test tubes for the lab?” Her eyes were already glancing about the various labels.

“Well that’s a plus at least. The last thing we need is to be moving things around, and to spill something hazardous across the lab.

“As for test tubes,” Heather said looking around. “I thought I saw something over there.”

Walking around a few of the cases, Heather pushed one to the side and picked up a case from the bottom of the pile, marked fragile. “Yup that seems about right, bottom of the pile.”

Cracking open the case she did a quick peak inside, nothing seemed to be broken. “Do you have a manifest of what we were expecting to be delivered? All I have are the requests, but no confirmations on what they were going to deliver.”

Naomi managed to keep the cringe from her face when she glanced over. The test tube location wasn’t ideal and even hurt her attempt to be positive. She kept her lips tight, listening to the question.

“Yeah, on my PADD.” Immediately the scientist pulled up the list.

“Ugh, this might take a while.” She offered Heather the device to see how extensive it was.

Heather looked over the list, it was long, but that was to be expected for a brand new ship. There was a lot of little things that went into the labs that no one ever thought about until you needed it. But that only helped them a little bit today.

“Okay, let’s see how far we can get today. The rest of the science team should be here tomorrow, and we can see about getting their help to finish getting everything put away then.”

Pulling out her own data pad, Heather made a copy of the list. “Why don’t you start in that corner with getting each case sorted out, and I’ll start over on that side.”

“I hope it doesn’t take too long. I haven’t eaten since breakfast and was hoping to grab something in the gallery.” Naomi stated as she glanced through the list. She sighed then moved to the next box marked fragile. It was a small collect of droppers, slides, and petri dishes.

“Found the droppers, petri dishes, and slides. Putting them over there.” She picked up the box careful then shifted it over to the cabinets where the delicate things were stored. It was dangerous to risk glass shattering and floating in space.
