SS Sojourner

Main Sim - Bridge

[snip]

=/\= What?! Wha…I..We dont know what you’re talking about Captain! Slaving local life forms? T…thats just insane in this day and age! =/\= He stammered but was clearly caught off guard by the sudden change in tone and forceful nature. A second later a muttered, =/\= Shit we have to take them out! They can’t let Earth know! =/\= Was heard by another voice, and the comm suddenly ended.

On screen all three cargo ships began to slowly accelerate impulse reactions to spread out, their own hull polarization systems came online and their plasma cannon signatures also showed powering up. While the three Earth cargo ships were not the deep space hauling types that were more common they were smaller though still slow in relation to say the Lunar Rover class. But because they were so sluggish they were usually known by many to have their captains layer more hull plating then normal, some even had one or more plasma cannons added.

Odina kept her mouth shut but her expression was furious. Slaves, Earth’s history was filled with slavery and those who fought it and defended and finally gotten that abolished. To know that Terrean cargo ships were sinking to such awful lows to do that another planet’s natural inhabitants. She made sure that tactical console was as ready as it could be and had her spare parts ready to make fast replacements if it came to it.

“Helena.” Marceau just said her name, she didn’t need more than that. [O] “Red alert, ship to red alert. Battle stations. Polarize the hull playing. Engineering, Security” he looked to Marshell, “be ready to relay coordinates and aim, helm weapons controls are still out.”[O] He glanced around the bridge. “This kind of behaviour we cannot stand for, however we will try not to destroy the ship, only disable. Am I understood?”

~ Capt Renault

Helena didn’t need more than that. “Buckle up.” Not that it was necessary with artificial gravity. The ship moved, and the Sojo was more responsive and faster. The thrusters and impulse engines fired to life and the ship moved and swiveled into a position slightly below the other ships, giving their plasma cannons easy direct fire at the two ships close together and with the 180° adjustability of the aft cannon, firing range to the third ship. “Security, let me know what and where you want to hit, and I’ll get you there,” she called over her shoulder.

Lt. Laursen, Helm/Navigation Officer

“Ready Sir.” Odina replied, she had every confidence in Green and the rest that with their hard work and dedication to the ship, together they’d be able to keep the ship’s armor plating and weapons up to par for this and once it was over she was going to send some letters about the parts, codes, ethics, and most of all team work to keep the ships of the Fleet in the best condition they should be in.

Not long after the red alert sounded there was a comms in from Engineering. =^= Engineering, Bridge. Gagarin here. Additional power allocated to critical systems. Damage control parties standing by. =^=

Heather just nodded as she turned back to her own console. It was time to see what sort of surprises those ships might have in store for them, as she had only known them to stay stock for the time they came off the assembly line to being placed in their first Captain’s hands. Refocusing the Sojourner’s sensors on the 3 freight ships, it was time to see what they were up against.

Aiden tapped away, trying to disrupt or intercept communication between the three cargo ships - after all, a confused enemy was a weaker enemy.

As the Sojourner went to battle stations, they had just gotten their polarization systems online and charged as he first plasma bursts came in from all three ships. The cannons were obviously been upgraded a little from Earth Cargo standard. As it had seems their impulse engines. Their speed output was about 10% or so higher then normal for ships of this cargo class, and their weapons impact was about 8% more damaging and accurate. After the initial 6 bolts had struck along the port and starboard bow of the Sojourner minimal damage was reported, but the overall effectiveness was down in those areas to 93%. Based on the angles all three ships it could be figured were used to working in a pack formation using numbers and flanking to perhaps try to overwhelm an enemy target.

The first of the cargo ships was breaking to port, intent upon a dive to likely swoop up on the Starfleet vessel’s underbelly. The second one to starboard banked hard to go above the main line of the forward end of the ship. While the third dove starboard and angling for an equal underbelly strike. While the Sojourner probably had the edge in speed, if they got themselves pinned in the three cargo ships could make life rough for them, not to mention if they had any other secrets up their sleeves.
