Rachel stayed quiet as she got herself set up with the second team. She hadn’t left the ship since her first arrival and she was admittedly excited with the prospect. Although she did enjoy the quiet of Sickbay she did occationally feel the need for action.Dr - Grey - CMO
Baumann listened to the distress call as they waited for the Captain’s orders. He made sure that recording was made, as well.
Baumann, AC
Meanwhile, Rachel did some stretching to limber up. She looked around at the teams and made mental notes of each and every ones physical histories. Anyhting might become pertinent.
Dr- Grey CMO
Kenny gradually slowed the shuttle, pulling back on the throttle and not quite proceeding through the entrance that had been opened for them. “Should I go through?” He asked Baumann, scratching his nose slightly and watching the Armory Chief for instruction.
Kenneth Fleet, CE and Navigator
“The Captain said hold.” Baumann said calmly, although Fleet could see his jaw clenched tightly. “Although I do not relish the idea of floating here as a stationary target. Perhaps a precursory pass to see if we can garner any further information?” he asked, his eyes focused on the sphere.
Baumann, AC
Being stationary would yield some information that … might be interesting.
Over the entrance they detected no weapons signatures at all.
However, sensors detected a gravitational pull that was immediately evident: at the center of the space within the Sphere was a black hole. This far out the shuttle was in no danger of being sucked in.
As well, there were numerous power sources along the inner edge of the Sphere. They were centralized and of varying strengths but nothing ‘mammoth’. In fact, on many the shuttle could put out a similar output. The Translator finally began to put something together. “Hello? Hello? Are you really from beyond? We need your help. We’re all dying here.”

Baumann looked back at the XO and said “First contact, Ma’am.” and he then motioned for her to come and man the communications.
Baumann, AC
Suddenly the Captain’s voice came over the comm. =^= Shuttle, hold back. There is a huge gravity well in the middle of the sphere. Barri is trying to calculate the safest entry depth. We ‘have’ received a transmission for help along with some telemetry. But till we are certain, hold outside the sphere. =^=

((cross posted from bridge))Baumann looked at Fleet and said “Well, I suppose that answers that.” in a most uncharacteristically sarcastic and playful manner. Baumann then keyed the comms. [o] Shuttel to Bonaventure. We have the same readings, Captain. Be advised, a large area of the sphere has opened inviting entry. Dimensions are immense. Bonaventure would fit easily inside. We will hold position until further instruction. [c]
Baumann, AC
Rachel, who was now upside down standing on her hands finally spoke again “Don’t worry lieutenant, We’ll get to leave soon” Her left arm rose carefully “We just need to be patient and hopeful” She said with her crooked smile.
Dr Grey - CMO
Naomi’s ears caught T’Leia being called over. Her eyes crunched up and stared, slightly surprised at the sudden stop. It got her attention distracted from the fact they were stuck inside the shuttle and a black hole rotated some distance away. She was glad that they didn’t move closer personally.
-–ENS Naomi D. Locke, Sci
Kenny was a little aggravated that they were being told to hold position. The Black hole was far enough away that it wasn’t effecting them, and there were people in need of help. “What should we say to those folks in need of help right now? Sorry, but we’re too scared of the black hole to help you? Enjoy dying?” He muttered under his breath. It might be rude, but he didn’t like to let people die if he could help it. He held his position though. He might talk, but he wouldn’t disobey a direct order.
Kenneth Fleet, CE
Baumann didn’t turn to the CE but said in a low voice “If a few moments is all that stands between them and death, then it is unlikely we could help by rushing in and finding ourselves in the same situation. We would be a poor search and rescue team if we killed ourselves trying to save them.”
Baumann, AC
“Commander, keep up communications with them.” T’Pris said.”The more we are able to communicate with them, the more we can understand what they need. Ask them what danger they are in and what they need.”T’Pris said as she rose from her seat and moved forward to stand behind Fleet.
Commander T’Leia
max had Delta team recheck their equipment during the delay. “Could we slingshot in at an angle to land?”
Woods
“I’m not a communications officer, Commander,” Kenneth said, concentrating on his piloting. “That was my sister’s specialty. I’m a bit busy trying to calculate approach vectors”
Kenneth
Baumann simply nodded at Kenneth and then said into the communications [o] Unidentified vessel, this is Shuttle Alpha of the SS Bonaventure. We read your call for assistance. Can you specify the nature of your distress, and how may we be of assistance? [o]
Baumann, AC
After some time the reply came through [o] Nature? Uhhh .. [o] A couple of words that just didn’t translate [o] We are down to only one good ‘klinker’. The others failing. One stolen. If the good klinker fails we are dead. [o]
Rachel meanwhile continued her exercises, now with her face close to the deck floor, still standing on two hands. She trembled slightly in her new position and thus elected not to speak for the moment.
Dr. Grey - CMO
Baumann herd a mutter form behind and turned to see the CMO in their pose. Turning back to the console in front of the co-pilot’s chair, he simply shrugged and repeated the call again. After all, everyone had their own way of dealing with apprehension.
Baumann, AC
Tapping the console beside her she hailed the shuttle. [O] Ok shuttle… You can enter but remain close to the walls. If you sense anything amiss, don’t hesitate to haul yourselves out right away. And Barr thinks we should be able to send in a probe and scoot it around the inner perimeter to see about additional readings. Watch that singularity and keep the comm open. Proceed with caution. [O]
Ari

((Crossed from bridge))[O] Copy, Bonaventure. We will proceed with caution and keep communications open. [O] Baumann responded. Without looking back, he said “Mr. Woods, prepare to deploy and secure the landing area as soon as engines idle. Delta, form escort perimeter on the mobile team as soon as we are clear of the shuttle.”
Baumann, AC
With a sigh of what was probably relief, Fleet directed the shuttle in through the hole in the structure, carefully piloting the small craft inwards and keeping close to the shell. He glanced around, looking for the distressed vessel visually while also pressing a few buttons to get the shuttle’s sensors searching to pinpoint a location.
Fleet, CE and Navigator
The shuttle entered the Sphere. Immediately it began to feel the tug of the singularity. They were, however, far enough out to be able to compensate. The atmosphere was thin and extended nearly 300 km in height, though the surface of the interior of the Sphere was like a bleak metal grey wasteland. What looked like cities dotted the surface at regular intervals but there was nothing that looked alive there.
Floating in the atmosphere were globes. Some were lit and some were dark, and were the size of a large house to ones that might fit a football stadium. They were made of different materials and while some scanned as well put together some were patchwork. Each was tethered to the surface by a hundred kilometer or more cable. Some had other spheres attached to it like a bizarre molecular structure. Farther out were the power sources. Scans would indicate that they were anti-grav units that were facing toward the singularity.
The location of the transmission was from a dimly glowing sphere that had two other spheres attached to it. Scans would show that there were some near 30 life signs in it.
Wookiee
Leaning over Baumann’s seat T’Leia frowned as she looked out the front viewport. “What do we have, Chief? Can you pinpoint where the transmission is coming from?”
Commander T’Leia
Baumann looked forward and pointed. “There, Ma’am. We are seeing… approximately thirty life signs. Trying to get a better reading on what kind of life forms they are and where exactly they are located now.” and he began concentrated scans of the sphere. A thought then occurred to him. “Ma’am, Bane said that the object we found originally was a prison. What if this is, as well? Look at the spheres. Isolated areas, only affixed to the deck at high altitudes, and separated from other clusters. Perhaps we should keep that in mind going forward, Ma’am.”
Baumann, AC
The life signs, from what could be gleaned, were humanoid. Scans of the spheres and their make-up suggested a size comparable to most humanoid species, though they knew that that could be pretty far ranging in specs - take Andorians and Vulcans for example. Temperature within the spheres were just over 10C so fairly cool but certainly not cold. Power generation varied from what looked to be small fusion reactors in the anti-grav units to something more chemical based in the globes powering their machinery.
“Indeed, that is a possibility. Though we cannot know without more facts.” T’Pris said as she paused to consider the AC’s suggestion. It would seem logical that this sphere had some connection to Bane or the other race they had met. It was a relatively small area of space for them to not at least be aware of each other.
Commander T’Pris
Max stood up by the doors “delta team on your feet” he exclaimed.
Woods
One thing that was noted, however, was a lack of vessels. One transport attached to the side of the sphere they were scanning was of the size of one of their own small shuttle pods.
