Evie walked towards her Department Head’s office, her cat in tow sticking to her owner’s side. Sometimes Evie was convinced that Bijou was far more intelligent than a normal cat.

She stopped at the doorway and picked the cat up, who happily climbed onto Evie’s shoulder and sat down, her tail wrapping around the other shoulder.

Evie took in a breath, then knocked on the door.

There was almost a full minute of silence before anything could be heard on the other side of the door. There was a slight shuffling and muttering before the door slid open revealing the Sojourner’s Chief Medical Officer. Rachel Grey was over a foot taller than Brooks and her mess of red curls made her seem even taller. All of that combined with an athletic figure and broad shoulders made for an intimidating first sight, then she smiled widely “You must be Ensign Brooks, come in come in” Her Scottish accent was tempered with a hint of English RP. She took a step back allowing Evie to enter the small office.
