[snip]With gravity returned to normal the mess of blood, guts, and such came down with it. Making marks every which way. The worse though was over the damaged tactical/weapons console. Perhaps now they could focus on the strange signal they had picked up just before this mess with the alien bug. They also had to figure out what if anything to do with the natives they just discovered and what was causing the strange power losses from equipment on the planet. They also had to finalize their survey and finalize their buoy claims to the system.

“Anyone who is touched with alien bug goo should go to sickbay and be checked out,” Marceau ordered. The tactical station was going to be a big problem. He pointed to the engineers on the bridge, El and Green. “Check the damage to the Tactical station.” Then to another officer familiar with Comms, “Use Aiden’s station to check on that signal.”

Helena was already anchored in place so as the gravity returned she bent her knees to absorb the shock. She handed the gun back to the armory officer. Somehow it had managed to not get goo on it, but she was covered. Great, just great. She smirked, “Guess I get off duty early today.” She was a seasoned, experienced officer. She absolutely would not show the repulsion and panic she had buried deep inside over the alien bug’s innards all over her. If she panicked then the younger and less experienced officers would as well. Instead she was light hearted and joking. Absolutely no one would know she was having a private little freak out in her head. She headed for the lift and stepped onto it, waiting for the others that had to report to sickbay as well.

Heather was still standing to the side just holding the net with the remains of the creature, covered by a good amount of the goo. The perfect cap to the day. All she wanted was a hot shower, maybe boiling hot, anything to get rid of the smell. But for now she had to wait to get checked out in sickbay.
“I’ll go ahead and drop this in sickbay while I’m there. We can review what is left later. Maybe after I’ve had a chance to take a bath in boiling water.”
When the lift doors opened she followed everyone else in. Hopefully the check-up in sickbay wouldn’t take that long.
“On it Skipper,” Green said even as El navigated through the mess of people toward him. She had avoided the goo but he didn’t know how but then so had he with him being farther apart. Well, perhaps not the spanner that had hair and goo on it where he had struck the creature. “You’re not in uniform, Ensign, in any form of the word.” His tone was unhappy. This whole scene had upset him and his fear that had nearly overtaken him gnawed at both his ego and his sense of who he thought he was. She did have tattoos that he otherwise would never have seen in polite - or official - company, and frowned.
“The Commander told us to follow her. We had not all gotten through decon.” She looked down at her as though it was her first recognition that she was as she was. “It sounded like an order. No time to dress.” To him her tone was meek, but was there an edge to it? Green kept the frown that looked stern behind the visage of this beard. “Hmmm.” was his only reply.
“Go back and get suited up and bring two others with you to look at these panels with diagnostic equipment.” He glanced at the console top and the scorch marks. They had the newer processing boards under there and they may have shorted from energy feedback on crushed micro contacts on the console. “Bring up a couple Energon 351’s. They may need to be replaced. If we’re lucky it will only be fuses cut out at the power mid span.” Looking at the top of the consol. the damage was around the firing and targeting systems. There might be more damage than seen. Could a computer AI relay module be shot? Who of them knew that best? His finger tapped at the side of the damaged console, thinking. “Get Warrant Officer Jackson as one of your two,” he said. He had the most experience outside of him and has had more hands on on these systems in his years. “Tell him things are stressful up here. No ball caps.” As a second thought as he looked at the damaged vent. “And get Gagarin up with a helper and a Crawler. We need to see what damage that thing did in the vents.” The, Crawler, or Duct Walker being a robotic unit with sensors and cameras that allowed them to see in those places that they couldn’t fit.
El nodded. “Aye, sir,” she said and turned to exit. By the shift of her shoulders Green could tell she was tense but was that from what was going on or her reaction to him? Was that a snake tattoo climbing about her spine? He shivered despite himself, seeing her nimbly avoiding the goop on the deck.
[o] Green to services. We need a clean up crew on the bridge. Bio-matter protocols [c]
Turning away he knelt down to start removing panels on the underside in preparation for the crew to come up. The large man didn’t fit well there but their safety had been compromised on more than one level. That thing had blew through filters too. It was taking time to get

Naomi listened to the answer over the communications. Her head tilted enough to keep tabs on the hostile still struggling in the net. She had put as much distance between them as possible, not trusting the materials to hold forever. She had already suffered enough head trauma and she didn’t need more.
When the pistol fired, she flinched at the sound. Globs of blood poured from the creature until its death throes finished. Thankfully, she had made sure not to be in the trajectory of the exit wound.
When the gravity came on, she lowered like the rest. Her knees bent and she caught her balance easy enough. Unlike the others, she checked herself over for goop.
“Somehow, I managed to avoid it.” Her eyes widened at the mess left.
“Umm, Captain, should I collect samples of the creature’s blood? I’m not sure it’s helpful now, but it might be later.” Her voice held some hesitation in what she said, but the intentions to be useful were there.

Marceau, on his way out with the other goop covered officers, nodded. “Yes, Lieutenant. Just in case it ends up being useful.”
With everyone back on their feet NE Guy came over and as Naomi spoke he did too. “..I can get a sample prepped for review later. I too doubt anything is gleaned from it but you never know. having one in deep freeze would help us refine internal sensors if we ever have something like this happen again..” He explained.
Looking at the weapons console, it was quite clear the targeting and firing controls were shot and would require quite some time to fully repair, they would even need to meet up with a cargo ship to get the repair parts or return to Earth directly for repairs. In the meantime any weapon orders to target and fire would have to be done from the armory. Tactical scanners for detecting ships and the like were damaged on the console but parts were on hand to replace those given an hour or two.

“Exactly.” Naomi agreed as she grabbed a tube and a spatula, stepping closer to the CO.
She gently scrapped off a dangling glob and plopped it into the tube. Sealing it, she began to help the NE collect other samples to shortly analyze.
Nkosenye stood at the back conferring with the Armory officers. How someone that large had managed to come onto the bridge without being acknowledged before was a mystery, but he was making notes on on a pad and recording who had been exposed and who was clear.

El got onto the lift with the Lt who was pretty .. gooey. El wrinkled her nose with the smell and wondered how the Lt was taking it. It wasn’t quite as bad (to her) as that Worker Bee smell from a month ago that she still was reminded of now and again if only in effigy by now. “Not your normal shift,” she commented to her, speaking of the day on a new world and now this. She glimpsed Lt Green making a disgusted face as he looked at the console and kept in mind what she was supposed to do before returning to the bridge. By now this was likely news all over the ship; gossip like this traveled faster than data on an opti-cable.
Helena shook her head, “No, not it is not. Even after all my years in the fleet, I can say this is one of the most not normal shifts ever.” Given the amount of destruction and life just one of those things took, Helena thought she might prefer to go head to head with Naussicans again. “Glad you managed to avoid the goo.” Helena breathed shallowly through her mouth. The stink was pretty bad.
Meanwhile Green was growing more unhappy. How could a creature like that do so much damage with its nails?! On glass and metal! His mother’s cat had a propensity to shred an old chair that she kept patiently upholstering, but that was cloth. He started to have concerns about parts availability in this detail and, while waiting, stopped to make a note that the ship’s inventory should have a replacement set of such sensitive controls. To be taken out so easily with no repair? There should be some jury rigging possible. He’d get the team on that; they were too far out to start going hat in hand because of a big alien bug.

Marceau followed the others onto the lift. An NE helped Ensign Conlon to get him to Sickbay.
~ Capt Renault
Helena moved all the way to the back of the lift so there was room to move Conlon safely and so he was the first off the lift and into sickbay. He had managed to avoid getting hit and she didn’t want to drip on him.

Once everyone entered the lift, Naomi chuckled. “I’m so glad I didn’t get that stuff on me. It reeks.”
