Helena made her way with a stony expression toward sickbay. She swore Grey was going to lock her up or something. This stuff was nasty and smelled and clung in places like it was holding on to dear life. She swore if that lizard thing dropped eggs all over her, once she was cleaned and cleared and not at risk of one shooting out of her stomach like something from that old sci-fi flick…Alien?…she was resigning from Star Fleet. She was done. No more alien diseases, infestations, or attacks. She shivered at the thought. She walked through the doors and looked around. “Hey Doc…where do you want us before this stuff starts dripping everywhere?” She jerked her thumb to the other bridge officers who’d gotten hit by the goo that were filling in behind her.Laursen, pilot
“And where do you want this?” Heather asked holding up the net with the creatures remains. “It’s what is left of the creature. Sadly someone put a hole through it, but hopefully you can get some information on it, at least enough to keep these off the ship in the future. I’m hoping your imaging scanners will be able to get more information then I could get in the science labs.
Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO
Helena knew the comment was directed at her. She wasn’t going to apologize for one following the captain’s orders. She also wasn’t going to feel bad over killing something that was making huge strides to get free and keep attacking them.
Marceau followed the two of them into Sickbay. “‘Sadly’? It was murdering the crew! Look at Ensign Conlon.” He said to Grey, shaking his head. The stuff was stinky and all he wanted was it off of him, but that would come soon.

Heather turned around and looked at the Captain was he walked in. “And it had already been captured at the point it was shot. Now we won’t be able to figure out why it was motivated to attack the crew. Can you say for certain Captain that we didn’t start this? Perhaps we killed a member of its crew first. Or do you intend to shoot first and ask questions later every time we meet an alien species out here, sir?”
She was tired, hungry, sore, desperately needed a shower, but above all frustrated. Protecting ship and crew were important, but she had figured that a former doctor wouldn’t be so quick to shoot first and ask questions later like a common security officer. Especially a creature that was captured and no longer an immediate threat.
Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO
Medical gave them a pretty good reason why it was attacking them. Driven by instinct to feed, grow, and then lay eggs. Apparently it didn’t need two to procreate either. It would feed and kill until it laid its eggs and then die. Maybe Grace didn’t hear that report from medical?
“Protecting my crew is my number one priority, Commander.” Marceau replied sharply, shooting Grace a look. “Whether we started this or not,” and Marceau didn’t believe they had. No, he was certain the bugs were no different than wild animals. “I will not stand by while they injure and kill my officers. I did not ‘shoot first’. They did. They just had claws instead of guns. And you had it in a net, but it was tearing its way out already. It could’ve hurt someone else. You.” He glanced at Helena, the other bridge officers in need of de-gooping, the Sickbay staff present, then back to Grace, “I’d like a word in private once we’re cleaned up.”
~ Capt Renault
Did Grace really just challenge the captain in front of almost the entire bridge crew and medical department? Yes she was second in command, but in front of everyone? Renault was mad. She’d heard that tone before and it never ever ended well for the other person. Don’t look, don’t look, DO NOT look at them Helena, she chanted to herself.
Heather met Marceau’s stare without blinking. “Noted. Captain.”
She was not backing down, but she knew enough that no was not the time to push it. Besides arguing here in sickbay wouldn’t accomplish anything except delay getting them cleaned up.
Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO
Helena kept up her mantra. She had to work to not laugh, this wasn’t funny, but she had to irrelevant thought that she needed popcorn and a soda to watch the show. Don’t look, Don’t look, Don’t look. Just wait your turn.
Laursen, pilot
Rachel had opened her mouth to speak when Laursen came stumbling into her sickbay again, but every time she’d opened her mouth either the Captain or first officer had put in some acidic comment or something other unbecoming of Senior Staff. As they exchanged comments her hands slowly rose until she had two fully formed fists on her hips and an expression of pure annoyance “Laursen drop off some samples on the table there then get into decon and shower off, same goes for the rest. Spread the word, and I’ll have someone taking samples from each goo’ed crew” She looked Helena in the eye for a moment “You did well” He said with a slight smile, indicating support if just quietly “Then I want you back here for a checkup”
When the pilot left her Sickbay, Rachel turned her attention to the Captain and first officer and her expression dropped, her kindly smile and understanding eyes faded into something closer to anger at the two seniormost officers “You, put that on the central bed with the bioscanner” She said to Commander Grace, there was an expectation of being obeyed in her tone despite the fact that she was his direct subordinate. This wasn’t words from a junior to a senior, this was the scolding one got from their mother for sneaking treats. Rachel turned her gaze to the Captain “I will not have my Sickbay turn into a debate platform or the backdrop for a shouting match” She said in a more quiet tone of voice as she leaned down to be at direct eye level with the Captain, clearly using her heights more threateningly than she’d done before “Your ship, your command, my sickbay” She was putting a metaphorical foot down. She nodded head head to the first officer “Would you like him softened up whilst you get cleaned up?” She asked fully serious.
Dr. Grey - CMO
Marceau was made Captain for a reason, and he would not be intimidated. Standing with a straight posture, he met Doctor Grey’s gaze steadily with his own green one. “Have your sickbay, doctor. But outside matters regarding the health of the crew you are subordinate. Something you will do well to remember.” His voice was icy calm, the sort of tone that conveyed carefully controlled anger.
Rachel cocked her head to the side expression not changing, the change in the Captain’s attitude seemed to have no effect.
He stood tense and still. When it came to health, he’d let her do what she needed to do. He’d been a doctor, it was needed for her to effectively do her job. But he would not tolerate insubordination, from either of them. “I already said Commander Grace and I would speak privately about her behaviour later. There is no screaming match in your sickbay, nor will there be.”
~ Capt Renault
Heather just nodded as she took the net and placed it with the alien creature on the bed. She was done talking for now, her stubbornness was prevailing. All she wanted was to be done with this, and grab a hot shower. And her stubborn streak was definitely not going to be helped by being the last one helped, if the doctors comments and attitude were anything to go by.
Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO
“Then please allow me peace to do my work, Captain, I will have a report for you about the creature likely within the hour. She crossed her arms giving the Captain a critical look “I suggest adjusting the decon showers to colder temperatures at first to assist in removing the goo” She spoke levelly as if giving real advice, both officers should note that she was telling them both to cool off without saying so directly. Then as if a switch flipped her serious attitude faded and her usual crooked smile reappeared “I think I should get to dissecting.
She quickly spun on her heals and walked to the bed, activating the scanner.
Dr. Grey - CMO
Aiden, having avoided being goo-ed, simply collapsed on the biobed the captain and a nurse had helped him to, breathing shallowly. He caught the vague idea of the shouting match, but he was too exhausted to really figure out the details. He just laid there until the room fell silent, focusing on staying awake and as alert as reasonable given the circumstances.
“I’ve had all the officers this goo landed on report to sickbay to be sure there are no eggs. I’d like everyone to get a checkup.” Marceau said to Grey, then made sure to leave samples of the goo on him. He stepped into the shower, scrubbing himself thoroughly to be sure all the goo was gone and he no longer smelled… well, like the worst smell he’d ever smelled in his life. And that was saying something.
The shower was less than relaxing. Once the goo was off, he turned to water off immediately. When he stepped out, he was dressed in a clean uniform.

Finally, the room was absent terse or hostile conversation. Aiden mustered the will to manage a weak “Doctor? Some help, please?” then laid back, the cuts searing and distracting him from much else.
