[snip]Meanwhile El had followed up behind the XO. She couldn’t do much and knew it. The gravity was off and she clutched at the crowded edge of a handhold to keep herself steady. She looked at the creature flailing in the net and edged another few inches away from it. At the mention of damage she peered around and locked eyes with Lt Green who himself was looking wide eyed at her. Was that because of her state of dress, presence or something else? She didn’t know. Scanning her eyes around she saw where it had emerged and had skittered onto. Did it really do that much damage with its claws? She glanced at it again, happy that the security group were keeping their eyes on it. Still she could smell the coppery scent of the blood, not to mention blood in the air and the sounds of the injured Ensign, and was quietly grateful that it hadn’t gotten much bigger or it would have been on PO Rick’s nightmare list if it hadn’t been already. Where was he? On another lift? He wasn’t in theirs, and the security group had come up on the second. He must still be down there on B deck waiting.

Laursen looked around. There were no gun stashes on the bridge nor did she have one on her person. AH! The armory officers. “Aye, Cpt.” Helena pushed off and using random consoles made her way over to the armory Officer. She hooked a foot around his leg to stabilize herself and grinned. “Alright you heard the Captain. Pistol please.” The armory officers knew her rating, it was better than most. She had earned expert marksman and worked to keep it. She checked the chamber. “Cmdr Grace, just hold it out as far from you as possible.” Helena moved so the angle of fire had no one directly behind it. She was steady, but the thing was wiggling like crazy. She steadied herself by anchoring to a console. She took a breath and a truly deadly look came over her face. So completely different from the laid back, cocky pilot. She aimed and fired.

As the shot hit the insect alien the plasma bolt burned into its thick hide, and burned it badly. After a final pair of twitches the goo and guts inside its body slurped out of its mouth and back end making a gory mess all over the 0-gravity still bridge and yet more messes for the poor NE staff to clean up later.....
But in the end the shot was clean and the creature quite dead and no longer a threat. Though several of the folks near the net would be covered in its remains quite well, which smelled awful in so many ways.
Just then NE Guy came onto the bridge getting caught off guard from the 0G and stumbling into the open air....” WHOA! crap forgot you all turned this off!” He said trying not to fly about uncontrolled.

Marceau had put himself between the creature and Ensign Aiden, and had protected the injured officer from the goop… Mostly. But he was quite covered himself in it.
El reached out reflexively and grasped Guy’s ankle before he careened off. Her other hand gripped at the console more tightly to have a base for capturing Guy and slowly reeling him in. The smell was horrid and her nose curled as it wafted past her. The scent salad would linger too until they scrubbed it off the deck. For once El was happy that she was not assigned to any bridge duty. Pulling back slowly El reeled Guy in and steered him somewhere in that crowded area to where he could find purchase.
With the situation under control and the creature dead; Green rather thought that he’d not want to meet Laursen in a dark alley given her unexpected actions just then. Since when did they actually follow what a Vulcan said anyway? Sure the creature was nasty and had killed two people. Two. Thankfully none were engineers but they were crew and part of the family. Reggie had had many such families but none to date had been torn apart by a wild alien creature. He looked at his hand that held the spanner. Some goo was on it and he set it down gently on the console and pressed his hand on it to keep it from floating away. When his hand lifted he noticed that it was shaking.
“Samuels, lad,” he said. “Lets bring gravity back in. One tenth G for five seconds then one tenth each second after that. Nice and easy,” he added.
He called over. “Ensign Serinde, a moment once we have gravity back.” His tone was back to normal; that girl had to cover up. The bridge was not a beach.

Aiden gently drifted down, collapsing to the floor as gravity returned. He couldn’t muster the strength to sit up, nor did he think it a great idea in his current condition, so he just laid there, feeling an odd clamminess in his extremities and lower arms.

With gravity returned to normal the mess of blood, guts, and such came down with it. Making marks every which way. The worse though was over the damaged tactical/weapons console. Perhaps now they could focus on the strange signal they had picked up just before this mess with the alien bug. They also had to figure out what if anything to do with the natives they just discovered and what was causing the strange power losses from equipment on the planet. They also had to finalize their survey and finalize their buoy claims to the system.

“Anyone who is touched with alien bug goo should go to sickbay and be checked out,” Marceau ordered. The tactical station was going to be a big problem. He pointed to the engineers on the bridge, El and Green. “Check the damage to the Tactical station.” Then to another officer familiar with Comms, (OOC: whoever that might be, I’m not sure) “Use Aiden’s station to check on that signal.”

“On it Skipper,” Green said even as El navigated through the mess of people toward him. She had avoided the goo but he didn’t know how but then so had he with him being farther apart. Well, perhaps not the spanner that had hair and goo on it where he had struck the creature. “You’re not in uniform, Ensign, in any form of the word.” His tone was unhappy. This whole scene had upset him and his fear that had nearly overtaken him gnawed at both his ego and his sense of who he thought he was. She did have tattoos that he otherwise would never have seen in polite - or official - company, and frowned.
“The Commander told us to follow her. We had not all gotten through decon.” She looked down at her as though it was her first recognition that she was as she was. “It sounded like an order. No time to dress.” To him her tone was meek, but was there an edge to it? Green kept the frown that looked stern behind the visage of this beard. “Hmmm.” was his only reply.
“Go back and get suited up and bring two others with you to look at these panels with diagnostic equipment.” He glanced at the console top and the scorch marks. They had the newer processing boards under there and they may have shorted from energy feedback on crushed micro contacts on the console. “Bring up a couple Energon 351’s. They may need to be replaced. If we’re lucky it will only be fuses cut out at the power mid span.” Looking at the top of the consol. the damage was around the firing and targeting systems. There might be more damage than seen. Could a computer AI relay module be shot? Who of them knew that best? His finger tapped at the side of the damaged console, thinking. “Get Warrant Officer Jackson as one of your two,” he said. He had the most experience outside of him and has had more hands on on these systems in his years. “Tell him things are stressful up here. No ball caps.” As a second thought as he looked at the damaged vent. “And get Gagarin up with a helper and a Crawler. We need to see what damage that thing did in the vents.” The, Crawler, or Duct Walker being a robotic unit with sensors and cameras that allowed them to see in those places that they couldn’t fit.
El nodded. “Aye, sir,” she said and turned to exit. By the shift of her shoulders Green could tell she was tense but was that from what was going on or her reaction to him? Was that a snake tattoo climbing about her spine? He shivered despite himself, seeing her nimbly avoiding the goop on the deck.
[o] Green to services. We need a clean up crew on the bridge. Bio-matter protocols [c]
Turning away he knelt down to start removing panels on the underside in preparation for the crew to come up. The large man didn’t fit well there but their safety had been compromised on more than one level. That thing had blew through filters too. It was taking time to get

Naomi listened to the answer over the communications. Her head tilted enough to keep tabs on the hostile still struggling in the net. She had put as much distance between them as possible, not trusting the materials to hold forever. She had already suffered enough head trauma and she didn’t need more.
When the pistol fired, she flinched at the sound. Globs of blood poured from the creature until its death throes finished. Thankfully, she had made sure not to be in the trajectory of the exit wound.
When the gravity came on, she lowered like the rest. Her knees bent and she caught her balance easy enough. Unlike the others, she checked herself over for goop.
“Somehow, I managed to avoid it.” Her eyes widened at the mess left.
“Umm, Captain, should I collect samples of the creature’s blood? I’m not sure it’s helpful now, but it might be later.” Her voice held some hesitation in what she said, but the intentions to be useful were there.
