NE Guy nodded, =/\= NE Guy here, bridge be on the alert for a very dangerous alien creature coming up there! It’s already killed one med tech in the decomm chamber, though some of the team should be on there way up soon! =/\= he said.

Looking around Sally pulled up a PADD and downloaded the vulcan information on the strange creature soon adding, =/\= Its a predatory insect from the Kaferia system, beyond known space by Earth. The Vulcans found it in a system known as Tau Ceti some light years from here as their origins. Something called like Vek’lee or something. Its born out of a small egg, and then seeks out prey the more protein and organic residue that it consumes translates to a faster growth rate. From what the Vulcans say the more intelligent the prey it consumes the faster and stronger it gets. Eventually it seeks to lay eggs in a selected prey upon full maturation before it dies after 5-6 days by our time once it lays its eggs. Life expectancy until then can range from 2 weeks to 5 months. =/\= She added.

The sickbay doors slid open and an out of breath Ensign Fletcher came running in, his hair a mess and his face slightly red. “I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get here…” he panted. “It’s been kinda difficult to get here.” He stopped a moment and lent against one of the sides, trying desperately to catch his breath. “Now… how can I help?”

Rachel arrived with the corpse of her medical tech on a stretcher, the body covered with a thin white blanket “Help me with this” She told Fletcher “This information, it came from the gathered samples?” SHe asked her team.

Dr. Grey - CMO

”..No ma’am, the information we got here came from our limited access to the Vulcan database..” Sally said.

NE Guy meanwhile dashed out of sickbay with a med-kit for the bridge.

“Yes Ma’am” Fletcher said, standing by ready for his next order. A cold shiver ran over him. He didn’t know who was under the sheet, but he hadn’t anticipated his first job aboard the Sojourner involving a deceased patient.

Getting the dead med tech from decom up on the bed was an easy task more or less, the time passage had not yet been enough for rigor mortis to set in so the body was still mostly flexibly in death. Sally looked over at the dead tech. “..We um....we should probably wheel him over to the bio scanner. These things can lay eggs inside kills. Make sure he’s not infested or something with more of these things..” She suggested.

Rachel nodded “Fletcher, you help Sally with the corps, I’m going to read up on the creature” She said moving away towards the Computer the two NE’s had been using previously and read over what they’d discovered.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Aye Ma’am” Fletcher responded.

For Grey beyond what had already been said nothing else was present to learn about. They were a pest plain and simple. A very dangerous pest if allowed to spawn and get out of control. But hopefully this had been the only one on the ship and based on what was said had not matured enough yet to get to egg laying.

Sally turned away from Grey to the covered up NE Tech, “..Come on then lets um....lets get to his autopsy.” She said looking squimish.

Fletcher nodded solemnly. This was not a task that he looked forward too. But, alas, needs must.
