Helena had made it through her first shift. Really it wasn’t bad at all. She sat the whole time, but got up to stretch and check the star maps a few times, and took a lap during her meal break. She had reported directly to sickbay afterwards. She was not going to risk annoying Grey. Now she was in her quarters having just stepped out of a very hot, indulgent shower. She slipped her compression clothes on, just to be cautious today.
Helena
Marceau had made it through his shift that day as well. His stress was still affecting him, and he was definitely hiding it from the crew. He had yet to speak to Grace about the shipwide R+R Gray had requested he set up. By the end of their shift, he’d looked worn out and tired and like he still wasn’t feeling great.
It was a while after their shift, when he knew Helena would be back from her check in with sickbay, that he headed to her door and knocked, wanting to see how she was doing.
~ Marceau
Helena finished pulling her shirt on and tugged it into place. She walked over to the door and hit the control. She tried not to grin to hugely seeing Marceau at the door. “Come in.” She stepped back so he could and then allowed the door to close. “How are you feeling?”
Helena
Marceau stepped in and moved away from the door, smiling at her. “Bien.” He answered in French, and then switched to English, “I am okay.” Then he sighed and smiled tiredly, “Maybe a little less then okay.” He looked at her, “How are you feeling? Have your muscles improved?”
~ Marceau
“I’m tired, but not like I was. I can still tell I over did it, but no out right pain or spasms.” Helena sat on her bunk, leaving Marceau the option to sit next to her or the desk chair. “Today was uneventful, so that is good right? Are the antacids doing any good?”
Helena
Marceau smiled as he sat next to her. “Good. No pain and no spasms is very good.” The news seemed to give him some relief. “It is. Uneventful is good. The antacids are helping with the nausea, but it’s still there. But I will be fine.”
~ Marceau
“It is. Dr. Grey is going to look at my PT records and adjust my routine if necessary. I will be much more careful.” She laughed a little ironically. “We make a pair don’t we, Marceau? We are both over working out of worry and stress and making ourselves sick. So,” she tapped his leg, “I don’t need to be a doctor to know we need better ways to relax. What are we going to do?”
Helena
Marceau smiled when she laughed. “We do, don’t we?” At her question, he sighed and shrugged. “Doctor Grey said I had to find ways to lower my stress levels or she may have to get Starfleet Command involved.” He looked at Helena, “She showed me the results of my scans. She would be right to.”
~ Marceau
Helena nodded, “She told me the same thing. In not quite so many words, she said not to worry about the disease getting to me, she would take care of my discharge herself if I didn’t behave.” It was a real threat and Helena knew it. Marceau would do the same if he had to. “So what are we going to do to make sure we are relaxing and distressing? Any ideas?”
Helena
“Good,” Marceau said. He would do it himself if he had to, for her health. He didn’t know what he’d do if her disease got worse. “I don’t know. I have to schedule a shipwide r+r per doctor’s orders, but besides that…” He shrugged. “I don’t know what to do to ‘relax better’.”
~ Marceau
“Hmmm,” Helena tapped a finger on her cheek, “Well I suppose we should make sure we leave our shift when we are supposed to. I mean you have other pilots and I know they are all fit and well trained. And you have Grace and the Gamma shift lead. Hmmm....what can we do together that isn’t work related. Keep each other accountable?”
Helena
“Definitely keep each other accountable.” Marceau looked at her and nodded. “Yes, we should both be leaving our shift when we’re supposed to… But what can we do while we are off duty…?” That was when what he’d been thinking of in Sickbay came back to him and he gave her a mischievous look, “There are a couple of things you and I could do.” He said, making it clear he specifically meant the two of them.
~ Marceau
Helena’s eyes widened slightly, her jaw dropping very slightly. Was Marceau openly and confidently flirting with her? He was! Then she grinned, “Well as you know I am a very visual and kinesthetic learner. You will have to demonstrate.”
Helena
Marceau was a much more confident flirter in private, with someone he knew would take it well. He liked her shocked look though, that much was obvious. He smiled at her, putting his arms around her and pulling her closer, though his face turned a little red, “Then that’s what I’ll do. And that will be very relaxing for both of us.”
~ Marceau
Helena couldn’t help but laugh softly. Not at him, she found this unknown side of Marceau fascinating and a delight. She put her arms around him leaning in closer. “I certainly won’t argue with my doctor.” Then she began to kiss him.
Helena wait
Marceau kissed her back. In a short break, he whispered, “It really is the best way to relax.” Then he was back to kissing her and wondering why he never told her years ago.
~ Marceau
Helena grinned, “Mmmhmm, totally agree.” After more long moments she pulled back slightly, her forehead resting against his. She had one hand resting against the back of his neck, fingers running through his hair. “I am much more relaxed. We have to keep this up. Now that I have you, I don’t want to lose you.”
Helena
Marceau leaned against her and smiled. “I’ll be fine.” Then he kissed her, a quick peck this time. “It’s you I worry about.” Then a little longer of a kiss. “I am definitely not complaining about keeping this up though.”
~ Marceau
Helena couldn’t exactly tell him not to worry when she was worried herself. Especially since, although the overall attack didn’t last long, it was intense, and of course she had made it worse trying to make it better. She gave him a sassy grin, “If you were complaining, we’d have a problem, Marceau.” She kissed him softly just longer than a peck. “You can check me every day if it makes you feel better.” She closed her eyes and sighed before looking at him again. “I can’t tell you not to worry, but I don’t want you making yourself sick over it either.”
Helena
“Je sais,” (I know) Marceau said in French. He leaned his head against her and sighed, “I really didn’t know it was that bad. I wish I knew why I’m getting sick over things.” He looked at her, as much as he could without moving his head too much. “It does make me feel better,” he said, “but I don’t think it would be practical for either of us to check you every day.”
~ Marceau
“No, probably not practical, but I bet you could come up with some very kiss creative kiss ways to check my muscle function.” She laughed low and a bit sultry. “And you are worried because you want to do a good job, and you are. They wouldn’t have picked you if you weren’t.”
Helena
Marceau grinned at her, a little mischievously but also lovingly, “If that is the kind of check we’re doing, I have some very creative ideas that could cover the next several days.” Then he kissed her, a little longer of a kiss. “I hope I can keep doing a good job.”
~ Marceau
Helena pulled back just enough to really look at him, but she was still close and had her arms around him. “Of course you will. If you don’t, you know I will tell you, you are being an idiot.” She raised her brows and gave him a serious look to make her point. “Now,” she kissed him briefly, “how about you demonstrate one of those ideas of yours.”
Helena
Marceau nodded, “I know. I’m glad I was able to get you for the ship.” A lot of ships would have liked to have Helena to fly them. He smiled at her request. “Well, first, we will have to play strip poker without the poker,” he said, and then he kissed her, a longer, lingering one.
