Aiden half-jogged, half-skipped along from sickbay to the turbolift, managing to compose himself somewhat by the time he reached the bridge. He stepped out into the stunning room and stopped dead at the sight of the starscape on the viewscreen. He’d seen space before, of course, but this seemed different somehow. Shaking his head to break himself out of his daze, he took a couple more steps into the bridge and said, still somewhat breathless, “Hi! I’m Aiden, your new linguist?”

Ens. Conlon, Linguist/Comms

Helena looked over as the door slid open and she grinned at the pure unfettered enthusiasm. She still felt that way every time she got behind the controls. “Welcome to the bridge,” she glanced at his uniform, “Ensign Aiden. I’m Lt Laursen, or Helena off duty, pilot and navigation officer. Though, I warn you, hanging out with me might get you in trouble. Cmdr Grace is usually there,” she pointed to the science station, “but looks like she ran to the labs. Capt Renault is the guy in the center seat there.” She winked at the Ensign and with a stage whisper, “He is a real stickler for regulation, and kinda scary when he starts rambling in French.” She glanced over at the captain and grinned.

Her antics got a grin out of most of the crew on the bridge. Helena was nothing if not outrageous, but an exceptional officer.

Lt Laursen, pilot

Marceau grinned too, giving Helena a look. He was well aware he was the opposite of scary. An average height of 5‘6’‘, he wasn’t the most muscular or big of men, but certainly athletic, with a mane of floofy, curly reddish brown hair on top of his head, complimenting hazel eyes. He had a softer, boyish look about him.

“Ensign Conlon, welcome to the bridge and the Sojourner.” He said, his voice soft and friendly, yet firm. He had a fairly thick French accent which mangled his R’s and softened the J in Sojourner into a ‘zh’ sound. “I am Captain Renault.” He pointed across the bridge, “That will be your station. You have an important job on this ship. I hope you’re up to it.”

“I’ll do my best, sir!” Aiden said, rushing to take his place at the communications station. “Is there anything I should know or any expectations you have aside from standard protocols?”

Bump!

Helena grinned and leaned over and whispered. “Hope you are fluent in French. The Captain sometimes starts spouting it and we have no idea what to do. We’ll be relying on you.” She winked at him and went back to her controls making a slight adjustment.

Lt Laursen, pilot

Heather came out of the lift at a hurry and turned towards the science station. She had been working with Engineering to see if they could improve the data feed between the labs and the Bridge. Anything that they could do to help make the analysis they were expected to do go faster. As she stepped up to her console, she blinked and slowly turned towards the comms console.

“Your new…” she said trailing off. It took her a second to get her thoughts back under her as she was deep down a different rabbit hole. “I’m sorry, Commander Grace, First Office and Chief Science Officer. Welcome aboard Ensign…”

Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO
“Pleased to meet you, Commander. I’m Ensign Conlon, and am indeed new. Anything you expect specifically from me?”

Ens. Aiden Conlon, Linguist

Marceau gave Helena a playful look and shook his head. “I don’t do that… I might do it sometimes.” He smiled at the new linguist and Grace. “There is nothing extra from me at this time, I will always let you know if something changes, Ensign.”
