SS Sojourner
Main Sim - B Deck - Sickbay

Reaching in Eric was slowly able to wiggle his arm down the vent and get ahold of the bones and bits of grilse just back at the juncture. The bones still had a cold slimy and slightly damp feel of a recent kill, only a hour or so old. Whatever had eaten t4his creature had really stripped the body bare of any remains minus a few bits of non-bone of the main lower body. The head as he found pulling his hand back was missing entirely as were the legs so all he had left was a sort of ribcage like area and a hunk of cool raw meat and slowly congealing blood. So they had their sample now to go down to the medical bay.

As they came out Rick had a queasy ripple run through his stomach and limbs. He did not like that. Never had. Wincing he said, “Eww. Not much left of that.” He thought of something nibbling on his hand and leaving, well, not much and toddling away with finger bones to boot. Maybe whatever was in the duct was just a baby? What if there was a mama out there? He swallowed and looked at his hand. Realizing that he still had the small flashlight he flicked it back in the passageway to see if there was anything else - especially anything else moving - before snapping it off and giving it back to the Lt.
He winced as he glanced at the ‘remains’ sliding wetly into the sample bag before picking up the grating again - perhaps a bit quickly - and putting it back into place.
PO Rick Walters
Eric grimaced slightly as he grabbed the remains with his glove hand. He tried not react as it went squish in his hand. He quickly pulled his hand back out and slid the remains into the sample bag. Once it was in, he quickly pulled off his glove and sealed the bag.
As Rick sealed up the vent again, Eric stood up.
With a last glance into the grate - not that he could see anything but he was just feeling nervous after that thought of that thing having a mama somewhere - yes, he’d have to lay off the monster movies, Rick too stood up and brushed his hands free of the dust after settling the tool and light into his kit. At a glance the ‘remains’ didn’t seem any better in the light of the bay.
“Alright, next step let’s head down to the med bay, see if the medical scanner can help pinpoint what exactly this is. Think Nessa wants to join us?”
Lt Eric - Sci
As if to answer Eric’s comment, Nessa fell into step by their side following along dutifully.
Rick looked over to Nessa. “I think so,” he replied and looked at the small dog. “Come Nessa. Back to sick bay.” Their travel would take them back up to B deck. They were getting their ship trotting time in this shift. Somewhere in there he would have to report into the senior about their findings. Their exit out of the bay was easy enough. “I wonder, if in years to come how big they might make ships. 7 decks. That’s huge now. What do you think Lt?”

Coming out onto B deck and down the corridor to the sickbay NE Franks looked up from where he was busy stocking some shelving. “..Oh hello sirs! Um…” glancing at Ness a second then to the pair, “..Something I can help you two with?” he asked. Nessa meanwhile took a spot to the right of the door sitting on her haunches out of the way just under the nearby work desk. Though some of her probably less then through training to not go wandering was evident in she was tempted it seems to go sniff and explore all the obvious smells, for the moment though she remained disciplined.
