Helena was lost and it was wonderful. She had a wild, outrageous, fun personality. She was a daredevil and a hotshot pilot. But right then Marceau was getting to see a much softer, quieter side of Helena as she relaxed against him.

The kiss eventually drew to its own natural end. Helena, pink cheeked, grinned softly at him. “I should have over done my PT years ago.”

Helena

Marceau kissed her cheek after the kiss ended. Then he gave her a goofy grin. “That is not the lesson you’re supposed to take from this.” He kissed her gently again, just a peck, and then said, “I wish it didn’t take overdone PT to bring us here.”

~ Marceau

Helena totally interpreted ‘not the lesson’ with that goofy grin as ‘stop being cute so I can stay mad at you for being reckless.’ She set her head against his shoulder as he held her to support her. A hug, an embrace they had given each other many times over the years, but it was different now. “Well the good thing is we are here now, so I don’t have to do that again. Which is good because I feel horrible.”

Helena

Marceau rested his head against her and squeezed her gently when she said she felt horrible. “I wish you hadn’t done that to yourself. I am making you take at least tomorrow off.” Then he grinned, “It’s too bad I don’t also have tomorrow off.”

Helena nodded and was tempted to argue, but 13 years and she knew when she could and could not convince Cpt Renault to change his mind. 13 years and she knew when Marceau would put up with her antics and when he would get more stubborn than her. Her next comment was inevitable, though unlikely. “Well you are the captain and make your own schedule. You always complain of sitting in the center chair with nothing to do for hours on end. Tell them to comm you, you are working from your quarters on reports.” It was well within the norm, and they weren’t scheduled for anything but more travel the next day. It was a small ship, getting to the bridge didn’t take long.

Helena

Marceau was tempted. He really, really was. But in the end he sighed and shook his head. “We’re supposed to pass some asteroid tomorrow. And I don’t have very many reports to do.” He sighed again and looked at her longingly. “I can’t do it.”

~ Marceau

Helena had only been teasing. The idea of playing hooky was tempting and fun, but they weren’t on a star ship so they could play hooky. She looked at him. “Then we will both be there. You want your best pilot near by if we’re gonna be in passing distance of an asteroid.” She held up a hand. “I sit at my station, it is not physically taxing.”

She kissed him again. “We’ll just enjoy tonight.”

Helena

Marceau gave her one of his looks. “You will be here, and I will have someone make sure you stay here if I have to.” He was being really stubborn about this. But then she kissed him again and suddenly he was mush. “Oui. Ce soir. We’ll focus on tonight.” He smiled and then leaned back on her bed, pulling her with him. “Let’s hope tonight is very, very long.”

~ Marceau

Helena chuckled as they laid back. “I will stay here, no need for a guard.” Helena sighed and went exhaustedly limp as she settled. “Do I at least get to go to the mess for food?” A serious question. Marceau was likely to have someone do it for her and that was a bit…embarrassing. She also didn’t want to risk him showing up and her gone and get in trouble.

Of course whatever his answer was, Helena was unaware. Pain meds, hot shower, physical exhaustion and his warm pressence, and she fell asleep almost immediately.

Helena

Marceau chuckled when he felt her relax and go limp. He expected her to get tired. Before he could respond, her breathing evened out and she was asleep. Marceau considered slipping back to his own quarters, but he had promised he’d stay, and honestly, he was comfortable. So, he moved over a little bit to give her space and fell asleep next to her.

Early the next morning, Marceau awoke feeling hot, sweaty, achy, and nauseous. He checked the nearest thing to him with the time on it. 0500. Looked like he was getting the day off after all. He felt like he’d come down with something. Not wanting to wake Helena so early, he slowly and quietly started getting up.

~ Marceau

Helena was a light sleeper though and so she woke immediately. Still sore and fatigued, but wide awake. To say she was surprised to see Marceau was accurate, but also pleased. He looked off though. “Marceau?”

Helena

Darn it! He’d hoped not to wake her. “Go back to sleep, Helena, you don’t need to be up this early,” he said as he stood off the bed, trying to act like he felt better than he did. But no, his stomach hurt so bad he groaned, “Ooooh, je me sens mal,” as he headed into the bathroom to splash cold water on his face.

~ Marceau

Okay, Helena couldn’t speak French, but she understood enough from being around Marceau so long she knew mal was bad. She stood up, steadier than she was the evening before. “Marceau, what’s wrong? Do I need to call medical?”

Helena

“Non,” Marceau said from the bathroom, the door left open. “I think I’ll be fine.” He splashed his face, trying to cool himself, then came back out into the room. He looked as green as he felt. “I feel a little unwell. I guess I will have the day after all.”

~ Marceau

Helena turned the lights up and looked at him. “No Marceau, you look awful. You need to go to medical. If you can’t walk I will call Dr Grey.” She set a wrist to his forehead, “You’re hot, Marceau. You probably have a fever.” She moved across the room to her comm panel.

Helena

“Helena, wait, I can check it myself. It’s just a little bug. Where’s my med scanner?” Marceau sat back down on the bed. “You should sit down before you hurt yourself again.” Another wave of nausea washed over him and he clutched his stomach, “I might need a bin.”
