Marceau had been assigned various small assignments. He had spent a few months on Lunar colony as a doctor working under more experienced doctors. He had even done a run to meet some generational cargo ships to help update their equipment, but he had finally received his first real assignment. A longer-term mission, on a proper starship. The ship’s mission was to bring a human diplomat to Vulcan, and extra straff was being brought aboard to be sure everything ran smoothly.

Four months and fourteen days later, the Forester had arrived at Vulcan ahead of schedule without incident, thanks to the extra engineering hands brought aboard. The trip had been way more boring than Marceau thought it would be. But he was hoping to get to see the planet. The vulcans’ homeworld! What could be more interesting than that? Marceau was sitting in the ship’s mess area, waiting to hear who would get to go to the planet surface.
