“Captain, I’d like to go with the team.” T’Leia said suddenly as she rose. “It does look like this more automated then manned and perhaps once we get down there my ability to access the Vulcan database may help.” It as obvious that most of the technology they had seen so far was unfamiliar to anything the Vulcans had come across but this appeared to be of a lower tech so perhaps similarities could be found.

Just like Naomi suspected, the sphere gave out a reading that it wasn’t running at full capability. It was still an interesting piece of hardware compared to human advancements. At least, it would’ve been if she had focused on engineering for the program rather than science. She wondered about it’s condition. The way it read, it could’ve been damaged or broken during some incident. The image of thing confirmed it for her.

Noami waited until the ones aiming to go with the away team left before she spoke to her CO. She had noted the woman had been pacing, signs associated to frustration and worry. Being a friend, she knew there was only a few ways to put that to ease. She wasn’t a big fan of risking her life on the away team, but seeing her friend being distressed didn’t help her in siding with her self-preservation instincts.

“Sir, should I accompany the away team too?” Naomi asked offering a way for Ari to feed her inner Science geek through a friend’s notes.

Ari caught Baumann’s eyes. She smiled that smile that said everything would be fine, she’d see him soon. Then he was gone.

The Captain then turned to attention to the others. Hearing Naomi speak up made her smile again. “Thank you, Naomi. Please do. But let security go first. Just observe and let us know if it’s worth a deeper look see.”

The Captain then turned to her XO. While part of her wanted to keep the woman here, not wanting to put a command crew member at risk, she knew that if they ‘did’ encounter anyone over there, an officer of her rank and caliber, as well as talents, might be necessary. Nodding her head, she smiled. “Bring me all the details. But she goes for you. Leave the heroics to those up front. Meaning not you.”

She lightly touched T’Leia’s arm as she passed her. “Barr, let’s see what we can figure out before the get there.” She glanced around then back at the view screen. She wasn’t happy with this. But she had orders, and now the others did as well.

“Aye Captain.” T’Leia said before nodding and making her way quickly off the bridge.

Commander T’Leia

“Yes ma’am, I’ll see what we can do. Perhaps if we launch a second probe we could see if we can bounce signals between the two and see if we can get a better picture of what is in that sphere,” Alison said as she started to think of ideas of how they could get a better picture of what is out there.

Ari nodded to Barr. “Put two more if you can. Triangulating all sides and keeping an eye on the perimeter would be easier that way.”

As they watched from afar, a touch later, as the shuttle approached the sphere, sensors detected a ‘door’ opening. On the grand scale of the sphere, it was no more than a dark spot on the side of it. Nothing changed along the rest of the sphere that they could tell, but for one thing - along the same latitude of the opening a light started flickering.

If it had a pattern to it it was by appearance random.

“Captain, I think it’s inviting our shuttle in. A door opened just opened on the side of the sphere.”

Alison used the opportunity of the opening in the sphere to redirect the probe closer to the opening, hopefully to see if she could get any readings from inside of the sphere.

Ari stepped closer to the view screen. “What’s that?” She pointed to the flickering light. =^=Shuttle, hold for a moment.=^= She then turned to her CSO. “Barr, can we put one of those probes inside ahead of the shuttle, I want to be sure it doesn’t snap shut once something passes inside.”

She frowned at the light flickering on the far side from where the shuttle was. “Barr, will you see if there is a pattern or anything to that new light?” Part of her was excited. Maybe it was a message. Unfortunately, the other half of her brain was seeing a trap along every line.

“Already ahead of you Captain,” Alison said as she adjusted the probes course again to direct it into the sphere.

As she waited for the probe to head for the sphere Alison looked at the light. “I’m not seeing a pattern Captain. I can try putting it through some extra decryption programs, but the computer is not finding any pattern yet.”
