Looking over the survey and relayed scans from the Sojourner showed the closest entrance on the maps was about a mile or so away up a slight incline to their east. The entrance opened into what seemed a deep cave mouth and then from what scans showed would twist/split/descend into other tunnels going every which way. Life signs so far showed the big cats mentioned weren’t nearby the closest surface dwelling pack being a group of six or so about 4 miles off to their north and east.

Heather was spending her time looking over the scan data that they had from the survey so far, as well as what information the Sojourner was continuing to collect from orbit. So far it looked like a pretty decent cave network under them, but it was definitely going to need more in person surveying. Hopefully that the closest entrance would prove useful to them.

As she was reviewing the maps, Crewman Useful came running back up to camp. “Ma’am, we got those wildlife monitors up to try and track the animals the Lieutenant saw. Lieutenants Grey and T’Mera should be returning shortly, they wanted to collect an extra sample on their way back.”

“Perfect. Let’s see what we can find out.”

Heather looked up from her study of the current survey results when the comm came through. She hadn’t been expecting to hear from them until they got back to the surface.

[O] Grace here. I can still here you back at our basecamp. Have you been able to find anything worth potentially mining yet? [C}

As she waited to hear back, Heather started to download an updated survey result from the Sojourner as it orbited the planet.
