The newly arrived MACO leader made his way to the bridge and found the door to the Captain’s Ready Room. Foregoing the chime, the tall German man rapped his knuckles on the frame loudly.Baumann, MACO CO
The room was small. On ships of this era, space was in extreme demand, and even a small office was lucky to have. Barren, metallic walls made it feel smaller. A small desk took up about a fourth of the floorspace. A painting was leaned carefully against the front side of the desk. It was a beautiful landscape of a city painted with vibrant oil paints. Painted across the bottom of the painting was a banner serving as a label. It read: ‘Marseille, France’. On the desk, a small French flag stood near the computer console. A small statuette, like the sort from religious scenes, was on the other corner of his desk.
Beside the desk was a stack of medical texts, the titles ranging from ten years old to brand new. The subjects were as varied as the age of the texts, everything from survival med, to immune disorders, to ‘alien’ infectious disease, to xenobiology and anatomy. Some were written by human authors, some by Denobulans. The Vulcans of course, did not allow humans access to their studies.
Marceau stood behind the desk, several papers scattered around the surface of the desk. He read over one of them, for what must have been the umpteenth time, then ran a hand through curly reddish-brown hair, muttering something to himself in French. It was then there was a loud knock at the door. “Enter.” When the door opened, Marceau looked up and smiled. “I was told to expect you. I am Captain Renault.” He was a little soft spoken, his voice carrying a noticeable French accent.

The broad shouldered German walked in and stopped short of the desk so as not to crowd the ship’s commander. “MACO Captain Wulf Baumann. A please to meet you, Captain Renault. My team and I have just arrived. They are sorting out our equipment and getting ready for departure. I was directed to report to you on arrival.” Baumann’s voice was deep and carried a thick German accent, but his tone was professional and just short of friendly.
