Helena was absolutely not upset, far from it in fact. She supposed after this long it just felt right for him to have it, to keep it. She poured the glasses and went and sat back down. She passed him a glass and grinned. “Sleep sounds amazing. I will follow any order you want, Marceau, if I can get 6 solid hours.” She grinned and then waggled her brows in a very exaggerated and comical manner, “I know we’ve shared a tent on more than one occasion but I think I had better go to my quarters or the gossip is going to start early.”Helena
Marceau started drinking from his glass. He grinned playfully at her statement and then yawned. “Six full hours would be good.” He looked up at her, he didn’t want her to go. “Let’s finish off the bottle first,” he said at last. “Then we can worry about the crew’s rumors.”
~ Marceau
A cold chill sent goosebumps over her arms, making the hair stand up some. She sighed, “Should have brought my bomber jacket. It’s warm.” The room wasn’t cold though, far from it. Helena moved and stole a pillow to put behind her as she sat back against the wall. She picked up her glass and drank about half of it. “What are your plans? You’ve made captain, now what?” She rubbed the palm of her other hand along her thigh. It was a nervous gesture she’d had for as long as Marceau had known her, but was it that or was she rubbing at a sore muscle?
Helena
Marceau sat next to her with a nervous chuckle and a shrug. “I don’t know. I didn’t really think I’d make it this far. I’m not interested much in being an admiral and working on earth… So I don’t know.” He watched her rub her leg. It had been a nervous habit of hers as long as he could remember, but now that he knew about her muscular issues that was all he could think about. Was she sore? He sighed softly and stood up, pulling his medical tricorder out of a drawer. “I know doctor Grey gave you a scan but maybe I could do my own? Informally, I mean.” The informally part was obvious, looking at him as he stood facing her awaiting her answer.

Kind of like when this tradition had started, Helena was exhausted and that made her a bit…silly and more outrageous than normal. She hid a grin behind her cup. “Ohhhh....are we playing ‘doctor’ now?” She knew it would make him blush, maybe stutter a big if he was caught by surprise, but really Marceau had known her long enough that he’d expect just about anything.
Marceau blushed and looked at her. “P-playing?” Then he grinned and shook his head. “Maybe we are. As long as I get my scans.”
Helena blinked, she must be a lot more tired than she thought because she thought Marceau had just said they were playing. No…??? She was more tired than she thought, that was why her heart was pounding. She needed sleep before she did some crazy goofy crap.
She set her glass down and then scooted down the bed and laid back, hands at her sides, ankles un-crossed. He’d already pulled out his medical scanner, she wasn’t getting out of it. “Of course you can. Besides even if I don’t let you, you’ll just carry that thing around constantly trying to take scans of me when I’m not looking.” It was said with a laugh and a lot of affection. Marceau was her best friend, but he had also been her doctor for a long time. If it made him feel better to run a scan over her, she wouldn’t object.
She glanced up at him, watching his face as he watched the scanner. Watching for his reaction. It didn’t help, his poker face was in full force when he was in medical mode. Marceau had never been chiseled or the most muscular guy in their group, but he had always been good looking. Apparently Marceau had been working out or something because he was trimmer and more defined. He looked good. She wondered if that was a by-product of being friends with Logan, that man was certainly built. Helena closed her eyes, nope not gonna go there. Marceau needed put on a long sleeve shirt with a high collar or something.
Helena
Marceau smiled, “I have to find out one way or another, yes?” He said, and then he began scanning her. Helena was, of course, very pretty herself, but Marceau had been a doctor the last thirteen years. He could look at someone without going there. There was, unsurprisingly, nothing on the scans. But Marceau still felt better for having run it himself. He was a well trained doctor and it helped he’d always had a good poker face. There was no inkling of his reaction on his face until he had put the scanner away. Then he smiled and lay down on the bed next to her, leaving space between them. “I am convinced. You are fine.” He said, turning his head toward her and smiling.

Helena crossed her ankles, hands folded over her abdomen and turned her head to look at him. “I know, and now you know it too.” She sighed as she looked at him. “I’m sorry, Marceau. I really am. I didn’t not tell you on purpose. When it started happening, you were away, and Admiral Ochoa had me running him all over the system, even out of the sector a couple times. I thought about sending a message, but there was nothing you could do from ship side. I didn’t want you to worry.” She’d wanted to, she had really wanted Marceau to be there, to tell her she was fine, when the pain had started. “I went to medical and they ran all kinds of tests.” They had told her when she’d recovered it they were 98% certain she would have complications later. “They said it was just acute inflammation. The episode lasted a little over a week. I even did better on my PT tests than my previous one. So the doctors weren’t concerned. They usually last a couple days. By the time you got back, I was just trying really hard not to think about it too much.”
Helena
Marceau nodded and then shook his head and shrugged. “It’s okay. I was on a ship. There wasn’t anything I could’ve done.” Almost everyone who caught the disease had some sort of aftereffect of it, and Marceau and Helena had both been extremely ill because of it, so it did not surprise Marceau that Helena had the aches. He just wished he’d known about it sooner. He took one of her hands and smiled, “You can always come and see me if it’s acting up. Okay?”
~ Marceau
Marceau and Foster were considered the experts on the disease so it made sense for her to go to Marceau about it. BUT Dr Grey was highly skilled as well. There was no reason to not see the ship’s doctor or to let the captain play favorites or step on toes. Not for her. She squeezed his hand. “I will, promise, but I’ll see Dr Grey too. There is no good reason for the ship’s doctor to not know what is going on.” She smiled and it might have been a little sad. “Though it feels really weird that you aren’t my doctor any more. I mean, you always will be, but…” and she shrugged. Just like the way Marceau trusted her to fly was how she felt about him being her doctor.
Marceau nodded. He understood how she felt, he still didn’t like flying with anyone who wasn’t her. But sometimes he had to, that was life in Starfleet. “The last thing I want is to step on Doctor Grey’s toes.” He said. “I still might have to do my own unofficial checks though, for you.” He added and smiled.
“Good, that makes me feel better.” Then she yawned and covered it looking sheepish. “Oh dear, if I don’t get out of here, I’ll fall asleep.”
Helena
Marceau shrugged, her yawn making him yawn. “Wouldn’t be the first time we fell asleep in one another quarters.” He grinned playfully if tiredly, “Then you’d just have to sneak out in the morning, to avoid the rumors.” They were no strangers to rumors, there were almost always rumors when they worked together. But he was a captain, and he should probably be a little careful about that sort of thing.
~ Marceau
That seemed to jolt her awake like she got hit by a low voltage taser. There were always rumors, some hit too close and some too far off. She and Marceau usually got a really good laugh about it. It wouldn’t be the first time, she doubted there would be other times, but she had to squash the thought forming about sneaking out. She squeezed his hand lightly as she stood and grabbed her things. At the door she paused and glanced over her shoulder at him. “Or ya know I could just stay instead of sneaking out.” Then she left, leaving the bottle and glasses, cards, and pack behind.
Helena
Marceau blinked, surprised. She’d up and left and left everything behind. Had he said something wrong? Was she offended he suggested she sneak out? That was what it seemed like. But Marceau wasn’t sure. Whether it was the correct reason for her actions or not, the idea was the only one that would present itself to him. He sat there a while, considering that and playing with the necklace in his fingers.
~ Marceau
Marceau didn’t have to sit there for too long, as the corridors of the Sojourner gave a person very little space or opportunity to hide.
That was the case when shortly after Helena left Marceau’s quarters, Logan turned a curve in the corridor walking the other way. He wasn’t paying attention immediately however, as his eyes were fixed on a report of diagnostics and tests that the department had planned out over the next few days as the Sojourner got her space legs.
Legs, were what Logans eyes first noticed coming towards him past the PaDD and he looked up at the person heading his way, moved to step aside and then paused, and his eyes shot up again. He blinked, and the face of the person didn’t change. That was good, that meant he wasn’t drunk or being affected by an Ion storm or plasma poisoning. “Helena?” Logans’ voice held a hint of concern noting she was carrying a bundle.
Helena paused and actually looked to pay attention to who was in the corridor with her. It certainly wasn’t Marceau’s voice. It would also be quite a trick to get in front of her. Recognizing the only other person who would call her by her given name (yet). “Logan?”
“You alrigh… hang on,” He pointed down the way she had come. “You’re quarters aren’t that way.” Leaning to one side on the wall, giving her space to pass if she wanted, he tilted his head. “Marcs are.” Logan took a moment to note the state that Helena was in, then raised an eyebrow. “My lips are sealed.”
Kelleher, CE
Helena raised her brows and put on a wide grin hiding anything else she was thinking. “So are yours. I got tired of waiting. I’m going to bed. Maybe next time. Night Logan.” She gave herself a covert once over....yeah she looked like she dressed in a hurry. Oh well. She winked at Logan and then disappeared around the corner.
Helena
Still leaning on the wall, Logan laughed. “Good try honey,” he spoke to himself seeing as no one else was around. “Like I’m gonna believe that one,” pushing himself off the wall, he suddenly paused and raised an eyebrow as he second guessed himself. What if she had been waiting for him?
Shaking his head, he grinned and put the thought away. Helena wouldn’t even have one drink off duty in fear of being grounded from flying, breaking and entering into someone’s quarters wasn’t in her MO as far as he knew. No, the only logical solution was Marc. Unless she was hanging out with Black in that state of rough redress, but he would put money on Marc.
Fifteen seconds later he was ringing the chime to Marc’s quarters and leaning on the frame of the door, arms crossed and a knowing smirk on his face.
