Melissa stood outside the 1st officer’s office and knocked. She was starting some specialized training and could not be the commander of the MACO’s.

T’Leia looked up from the ship status reports she was going through and called out,”Come.” as she pressed the control that would open said doors. She wondered why someone would bother to knock when there was an indicator that could be pushed to announce a visitor’s presence. She waited while the doors whooshed open and saw the MACO Commander on the other side. “Lieutenant Colonel, what can I do for you?”

Commander T’Leia

Melissa stepped into the room and came to her usual form of attention “I regret to inform you that I will need to step down as the MACO commander of the Bonneventure. I have accepted the opportunity to work on a special set of skills. I will remain aboard the ship, however I will need to focus on that.” She said looking T’Leia in the eye.

T’Leia studied the Colonel thoughtfully for a moment.”Might I ask what those skills will be?” She was surprised as she had received no notification of this upcoming training program. Given that it was probably Earth Fleet security related, that might explain it but still, she was the XO of the ship. Though it was logical to assume that some at Earth Fleet were not so sanguine about having a Vulcan in command level on an human ship.

Commander T’Leia

Melissa looked at T’Leia “It is part of the new part of Star Fleet.” She said “It is more of an intelligence section.” She said not exactly sure how much information she would be able to share. “I will be available for missions and to provide support to the new MACO CO, but they will be in charge as long as I can retain my rank.” She said more like a question than a statement.

Barber-Tafoya

“Of course, Colonel. Intelligence branch.” T’Leia said with a nod as she considered what the other officer was telling her.”That would certainly be an asset. Very well, let me know if there is anything you require.”

Commander T’Leia

“I will do so. I will make sure that if there is anything that you or the Captain needs to know I’ll let you know.” She said “Of course the information I have may be limited in what I can share.” She said.

Barber-Tafoya

“Not surprising.”T’Leia said dryly.”Excellent, dismissed Colonel.”

Commander T’Leia

Melissa smiled slightly “You know how things are. If they don’t want you to know, then you won’t know.” She said “It’s going to be a fine line, however I’ll make it work so that you and the Captain aren’t completely in the dark.”

Barber-Tafoya.

“Thank you, Colonel. I appreciate that.”T’Leia said as she rose and walked the Colonel to the door. “I understand the fine line you will walk as I have been walking my own.” She added dryly.

Commander T’Leia

Melissa nodded “I appreciate your position. I will come to the Bridge and work with the new commander of the MACOs. ” She said “Unless you have other orders for me.”
