Heather had just recently returned to the bridge, just for this occasion. There was still plenty to do in getting the labs set-up just the way she liked, but there was no way she was going to miss the launch of the ship.

Tapping on the shoulder of the NE at the science station, she switched spots with them, and settled into her station.

Helena had been on the bridge all morning, coordinating with Kelleher as she went through the pre-flight checks. Pre-flight for a star ship was so much more than one of the smaller transports or shuttle pods. Now they were ready to go. She’d programmed their course in and double and triple checked it. “Course to Wolf 359 is plotted and laid in, Cpt. Ready on your mark.”

Marceau arrived on the bridge just after Grace, hesitating only a moment before taking his seat in the chair. When Helena reported she was ready, and he’d confirmed they had the go-ahead to to take off, Marceau smiled and nodded, “Then allons-y, Lieutenant, warp 3.8.” he said using the French word for let’s go. Warp 3.8 would have them there in 33 days… rather than Warp 3.2’s 55 days.

Once the other was given and they were clear of the Sol system the Sojourner hummed with power and leapt to warp. Soon easily reaching warp 3.8. It was a bit of a trip and one of the furthest that an Earth Starfleet vessel had gone on its own so far. But hey things had to happen like this eventually right?

Time passed and it was now the late afternoon hours a day and a half later, when at the comm station NE McMillian spoke, “..Uh sir?” She said to Renault who happened to be present. “..NE Bills is calling up from cargo bay 1 on Deck E, he’s requesting an armory team come post haste to investigate some strange sounds he’s hearing from one of the recent shipping containers..” she said.
