She spoke up turning from her comm station with the ear piece in her left ear. “..Captain Renault? Alpha station has cleared us to depart and Command has given us the go ahead for our mission to the Wolf-359 star system. A Lieutenant Commander Beems has also relayed from Command to wish us the best of luck for ‘planting Earth’s flag’ on another system..” she said.

Heather had just recently returned to the bridge, just for this occasion. There was still plenty to do in getting the labs set-up just the way she liked, but there was no way she was going to miss the launch of the ship.

Tapping on the shoulder of the NE at the science station, she switched spots with them, and settled into her station.

Pre-flight for a star ship was so much more than one of the smaller transports or shuttle pods. Now they were ready to go. She’d programmed their course in and double and triple checked it. “Course to Wolf 359 is plotted and laid in, Cpt. Ready on your mark.”
