It was 1420 hours in the afternoon the next day. By now everyone that had to be on board the Sojourner had gotten their things stowed away and were at their stations for their upcoming launch and mission. Those who didn’t have to be there had long since departed earlier in the morning. Final checks of all ship systems had been completed and any tiny minuscule issues been worked out before 1100 this morning.

With everything set the bridge was humming with life from the four other NE’s on the bridge NE Boots, a spry quite small woman even by human standards being just below the 5ft range. She spoke up turning from her comm station with the ear piece in her left ear. “..Captain Renault? Alpha station has cleared us to depart and Command has given us the go ahead for our mission to the Wolf-359 star system. A Lieutenant Commander Beems has also relayed from Command to wish us the best of luck for ‘planting Earth’s flag’ on another system..” she said.

Heather had just recently returned to the bridge, just for this occasion. There was still plenty to do in getting the labs set-up just the way she liked, but there was no way she was going to miss the launch of the ship.

Tapping on the shoulder of the NE at the science station, she switched spots with them, and settled into her station.
