At the request of the new CO, and approval by the FComm/AFComm and signed off by your CockRoach President the Bonaventure will soon to be known as the SS Sojourner an Enterprise Era Light Cruiser (spec found here for now - https://www.star-fleet.com/core/command/edept/posts/155419/ ). Also to note with this fresh start the CO has requested we reboot the ship year to 2149 which is before the launch of the NX Enterprise and show by 1-2 years I think. So this means ALOT more freedom to do stuff but also really for a time ham up the early limited exploration Earth Starfleet had! Any questions please let River, Steve or me know. Word too is I hear we’ll be having some new blood joining us soonish too!

GM CockRoach

SO! Yes. We’re getting a new ship, new EVERYTHING really. I know it’s a lot of change so if you have any questions please ask!! We felt the renaming of the Bonaventure was necessary considering the change of spec, because the Bonaventure name was tied to the old spec. I am very excited to get started with Rob, we are rebooting to 2149 in order to give him more freedom to do stuff.

On another note… Please welcome Jenn with Helena Laursen, our new Helm/Nav officer AND David Shotton as our MACO Commanding Officer! Please give them a very lovely welcome! You are free to start roleplaying, the story is we are on Earth, getting a new ship, the Bonaventure crew is being transferred aboard the new ship in its entirety and our new crewmembers are joining the crew while the ship is at Earth.

Welcome aboard all!! And to you Skipper!

This is going to be something new for El to digest, but the timeline is good. Now what to do with my cast of thousands,or at least a dozen .. whilst on Earth for a bit. Any timeline on that folks on our RP time for Earth?

Gene

I am super excited to be joining you all! And congratulations to River you will be amazing!

Jenn

Thanks, aha. To answer the question, it will be about two days IC… sounds like about the same OOC but feel free to do some Earthside sims and just do STF timelining.

Wooo new ship smell!!
Steve

Woot, so excited! I’m looking forward to writing in this era, it’s gonna be great!

Also, slight change you may note. My Char put down his particle rifle and EM-33 pistol and had a slight career change to wrench jockey :D

Hiya .. couple of questions on the ship and her specs ..

If I remember right Bonnie had a 20cm thick hull. This is a double hull of 2.0cm on each? Am I imagining things?

Yes you are right the Bonaventure had a single layer 20cm thick hull, no paddings or such between them. So I don’t know the reasoning why the Bonaventure’s designer settled on this amount, but I might imagine one explanation could be the Bonaventure frigate was meant to be a more multi-role combat capable possible design? A thick hull means more punishment. That said going off non-canon sources for the NX-Class its hull thickness was roughly about what I had for the Lunar Rover. So take this part with a grain of salt :) on reasonings.

Specs have a 6 person transporter pad .. your revision does not have one using a transporter for people … should the specs not say ‘person’ there then?

A fair catch! That should indeed be listed there, I guess its implied that by 2151+ its living matter capable, especially given there’s a line there about ‘members’ meaning I guess people go through an airlock to decontamination. So for now just assume until we reach 2151 game year its not approved for living transport BUT as I note in the primer if someone does go through it we’ll run with the idea of them being sick or what not as a result of poor transport ‘safety’. I’ll note the rewording though if/when I ever do an update on any other fixes for the Rover class.

Can one assume in a way that the Engineering looks much like that on Enterprise to move and navigate about. This takes three decks rather than two but just wrapping my mind around describing it in proper setting. :)

Thanks!
Gene

Yes overall its very similar to the NX-Class engine room, slight difference in that smaller status displays are obvious, and there is an off-set room for a CE’s VERY cramped ‘office’ but not much else. Further across the hull there are maintenance and storage bays for parts and repairs. The only other big difference vs the Bonaventure class and NX-Class is the warp core and M/A pods can be ejected (basically the floor of the engine room has a hull side panel slid away and the whole rooms floor drops like a bomb bay). Though why the bonnie class and ‘detach its warp nacelles’ is a mystery to me go figure, anyhow hope that answers your question Gene!

Yep, thanks muchly Rob! .. Gene

The key thing to keep in mind is that the Lunar Rover class (or least the first 4 ships mentioned) were all meant primarily as protype testing platforms for designs, tech, and other ideas which could be field tested etc and then approved for use elsewhere. For the Sojourner you still have that ability and it will sometimes happen but its also a fully equipped ship for usual missions too.

GM CockRoach

Oh … one more that just popped to mind. Bonaventure had crew of 55 and so does the Sojourner even with 7 decks rather than 4. Bonnie specs had the department numbers listed, such as 15 for Engineering. Can we say that the numbers are the same for Sojo? I ask as I have cough nearly all of the slots identified for named and ranked NonComms and one NL (Our good Reggie Green).
Gene

You whaaaat? Do you have a list for those?? I want it! AHAH
